Ive taken Adderall, just study for your test. Dont cheat.

Over the counter medicine to calm nerves?

Valerian does work, but it does cause notable sedation( in not such a good way) it does so by increasing the amount of GABA(a neurotransmitter in the brain) The problem is, it takes about a week taking it daily to really work and it is not recommended for use over 2 weeks. Believe it or not, Coriander seed, crushed and made into a tea may help you more and lasts longer. Passionflower is also an excellent anti-anxiety agent. It can be purchased in many health food stores in pills or capsules. Another option is Gravol or Dramamine depending if ur from CA or the US. But in some cases it is perscribed off label as an antianxiety agent
PS: please tell me if this is helpful. If you want more info such as coriander seed dosage by weight from someone who actually studies this stuff please ask.

I feel shortness of breath and cannot speak properly when I am under strain, excitement or any situation where my nerves get agitated. Is this a nervous disorder? If so, how do I cure it?

This sounds perfectly normal. It's your body's way of getting ready for a challenge. That's what causes all these crappy symptoms...Your lungs open up --> shortness of breath Your heart beats faster --> thumping chest Your veins open up --> blushing Less blood goes to your digestive system --> butterflies Your skin cuts off blood flow --> pale and clammy skin Your body is getting ready, and it's a good thing. The same thing happens with most everyone. Studies have shown that in high stress social situations (like giving a speech), the physical signs (heart rate, sweating, etc) are THE SAME in everyone, regardless of if you're nervous or not. So yeah, there's probably nothing wrong with you! OK, that being said, what can you do to calm your body when it gets too much? It's called DEEP BREATHING (aka pranayamic breathing): Take a huge deep breath completely filling your lungs and belly (5 seconds in)Hold it and really feel the stretch in your lungs Exhale slowly and completely (5 seconds out)The optimal breath is 6 breaths every minute. What this does is calm the physiology of your body by disengaging the sympathetic nervous system. Basically, in your lungs you have pulmonary stretch receptors. Your stomach and lungs sense the fullness, and send signals to your brain to trigger the relaxation system. Hope this helps!Dan Watch my video "Can Breathing Really Make You Less Nervous?"

Scared of social situations?

How can I get over the fear of being judged negatively in social situations? Thoughts like this pop up into my head and prevent me from being outgoing. I tend to avoid interaction with people.

"What if I sound/look stupid when I talk/do something?"
"What if what I say/do is stupid?"
"What if what I say/do doesn't come out right?"

Is there any immediate cure for panic attacks?

Attacks can be controlled by self-talk. You need to tell yourself that what you are feeling is irrational and remind yourself what is rational. That is a beginning. Next, I'd advise counseling to figure out when these started and why. When you find that out, you can move on.

I overcame my anxiety attacks and they were pretty bad too.

How to stop my heart beating so fast when I'm nervous?

You seem to have an anxiety problem. You said when you feel nervous, you have X, Y, Z symptoms. Those are the symptoms you should be getting when your nervous. Anxiety is a fight or flight response. Your body thinks it is going to shut down, so it focuses on your organs/torso and not your limbs. So your heart will pump extra hard to get your blood flowing, and you hands will feel icy because your organs are in survival mode and taking all the blood. The real issue is, is there something you SHOULD be nervous about? If you are sitting there worrying about school, then money, then your friends, then the guy you like...etc, then that's anxiety. Or, you can just feel anxious for no reason, that's also anxiety. If either of those two sound familiar, you have some sort of mild anxiety disorder. The fact that you're not having panic attacks is a good sign and means you don't have a panic disorder or GAD - also good signs, although they aren't difficult to treat.

Again, if those sound familiar you should try to seek therapy. They are easily treated, even just talking out what you worry about will make you feel a lot more relaxed, you won't even need medication. However, if you get panic attacks you really need to see some one quick.

How to stop uncontrollable shaking when nervous?

It's definitely visible because when I was singing with my friend she told me to "stop shaking" and I told her that I couldn't. I just thought it was a faze because it started happening when I was 13 and I am now 19 and it still goes on today. Whenever I would have to give a speech, sing, be in a group of new people or whenever I'm in an environment where I'm uncomfortable, I just start shaking. I did some more research and I read that it could be a sign of a panic attack but I'm not quite sure if that's exactly what it is.

And what's worse about the shaking is that whenever I try to make it stop, it seems to get worse. I feel like I can't move certain body parts. For example, when I try to move my arms to reach in my bag the shaking gets worse and even when I turn my head to look somewhere the shaking gets worse.

I don't know what to do to stop this, any suggestions?
