Opinion: Does a Canadian accent and an Alaskan accent sound similar?
In my opinion, yes. I'm Canadian and when I heard Sarah Palin speak, I thought that she sounded exactly like a Canadian. Alaska is not even attached to America. Geographically, it's a part of Canada. It only makes sense that we have similar or the same accents. Just because Alaska "belongs" to America does not mean that its citizens will automatically have an American accent. Also, some north American states have people who seem to have accents that sound like Canadian's. Again, it has to do with proximity.
