Is There A Way That I Can Live In A Small North Carolina Town With My Family With My Gf Being An

In North Carolina, if you invite someone to stay at your house without any written contract, is it legal to kick them out at will?

Well, that depends on a number of factors.  I don't know specifically about North Carolina's landlord tenant law, and you should talk with a licensed attorney about the specifics.  This is based on general property law.  If they have been there for a short period of time, most likely the answer will be yes.  In most states, you are perfectly legally free to have visitors for reasonable periods of time without adding them to the lease, though states will vary as to what a reasonable period of time is.  For the most part, if the person is staying longer than one rent period (usually a month on a residential lease,) then they will probably have to be added to the lease.  That would mean to evict the tenant, the landlord would have to go through formal proceedings.  If the person has not been added to the lease, then the person has a revocable license to be there with your permission.  You can take that back at any time.  If they refuse to leave, you can bring a trespass action against that person.  There are things that may prevent you from doing so, however.  One is estoppel.  The person would have to show in court that (1) you promised them a place to stay, (2) that promise was reasonable and they relied reasonably on it, (3) they have substantially changed position (4) to their detriment, like having given up their own apartment, and (5) the only way to avoid injustice would be to enforce the promise you made.  It's a pretty uphill battle for them, in other words.  Once again, this is based on the majority view of general landlord-tenant law.  For specifics, please contact a local bar-certified attorney in North Carolina.Edit: I misread the question a bit.  This would apply if you are renting the property you are on.  If you are the owner of the property, it would also depend on if you have accepted rent from the person or if they have done something in exchange for living there.  Most courts will impose a month-to-month tenancy absent a specific contract to the contrary under those circumstances.  If you have not, then you are most likely within your rights to simply have them removed as a trespasser.

What would you do if you had 30 million dollars?

Buy our own house and move away of this godforsaken nowhere town.
Set up a trust found for my niece and my nephews.
Pay our debts.
Help my brother see better doctors in decent hospitals and pay for any treatment he needs to get better.
Become co-owner of the store where I work and run it with my boss. Make the store bigger and better.
Go to university and study the career I dream of.
Buy all the books, movies and comics I've always wanted and cannot afford.
Buy awesome tickets for a White Stripes or The Gories concert.
Get a dog.
Get the super S-ERGO115 manual wheelchair I've always wanted.
Travel, see the historical sites and works of art that fascinate me in books.
Buy 2 cars, one for my brother and one for me.
Donate money to organizations dealing with inner city poverty and homelessness, public education, artistic and cultural activities, hunger and peace efforts.
After getting all the stuff I just listed and if there is money left, I would give it to my brother or someone else. I don't want to be rich, just live better.

BQ: dumb jokes make me smile.
I don't have any plans, just going to work, stay home and read
Same thing :)

Is Wilmington, NC, a good place to live?

It’s according to who you are and what you are looking for, and what your politics are. If you skew conservative, you’ll probably like it fine. If you lean liberal, it’s not very welcoming. I’ve lived here since 1081, and I don’t like it at all, but life has me more or less stuck here, probably until I die.The heat in the summers is horrible. The college is the best thing about the town-it brings in a lot of young people who balance out the town a little. The downtown area is much improved, and there is actually decent venues here for mid-level national music acts. There is no minor league baseball but there is a good wood bat college Cape Cod league type team here, and the UNCW athletics are usually entertaining, with a mid-major college basketball program that is pretty good. So there are some things to do.I’d move to Greensboro if I could afford it, or out of NC completely.

Were to live Raleigh NC, West Virginia, Pittsburgh PA or in the area and why?

I have been racking my brain comparing cities on where to move. I currently live in Erie PA the cost of living is great here rent on an average $550 for 2 bed but no jobs unless you want to work in retail or restaurant but it’s nice to have family and I can get almost anywhere in 20 min, my girl and I are ready for a change we are in our late 20’s early 30’s.

I have family in Pittsburgh I don’t mind visiting but traffic sucks too many hills and I get an older like feeling when I go there now I do like the fact transportation is available to get around.

I have a hand full of friends that live in Raleigh and Charlotte beautiful places I am just concerned since cost of living is a bit higher with rent around $800.

I don’t know much about West Virginia area only been in VA and I hated the traffic! My GF wants to move there I am just not convinced to live there.

Taking into consideration the job market my GF is a case worker with a Psychology DEG I would like for her to find a job 1st since I have a few DEG where I could work mutable areas in Electronics Tech, Biomedical repair, Cabinet Woodworking and so on.

I am looking for nice weather, not too bad for traveling I would prefer to be in a mid size town with access to a bigger town if needed affordable home is a plus 150K to 250K and outside things to do in the summer like outside bands, fairs and caravels.

If anyone have info or suggestion for other cities I would be great.

Would you ever move down south?

I could move "down south" to like, California. On the east coast, I don't think I'd go any lower than North Carolina. Maybe the very tippy top of South Carolina. Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri. I'd be okay with those. No way could I tolerate Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana.....too much for me.
I've visited Georgia, it's pretty and everything, and the people seemed nice in the town I was in, but I was soooo allergic to all the pollens in the air. It was awful.

And Florida is just awful. I lived there for a summer and hated every second, unless I was at the beach.
