Is There A Way To Reduce Melanin Production Of The Eyes

Are there any ways to reduce melanin in the eyes?

Besides surgical options, there are many methods that one may opt to in order to reduce melanin in the eyes. The first is through subliminal affirmations. While there is no actual proof in this method, many people have gone and attempted this (including myself) and have noted changes in their eye color. My eyes were originally a dark chestnut brown, and are now a light brown with a green ring around the iris in direct light.Furthermore, there are eye drops on the market now that are made with Raw Manuka honey which has a high hydrogen peroxide concentration. The hydrogen peroxide in this raw honey is responsible for essentially “bleaching” the pigmentation of the iris resulting in a lighter eye color. I will not recommend any exact product, but the few that I know of on the market are LightEyez and iColour drops. As always, please be careful with what you put into your eyes, and make sure you do your own research before attempting to use a product.Good luck with your journey, and if you ever need more information regarding general eye health please refer to my website About Eye Floaters which will be updated often with general information relating to eye care!

How can I reduce melanin to look fair?

The parts of our body including our face, that are exposed to the sun can appear darker than rest of the body which is generally covered.Melanin is a blackish-brown pigment that is synthesized in the skin by specialized cells known as melanocytes, and this pigment is then distributed to keratinocytes, the skin cells. Melanin, once distributed amongst the uppermost layers of the skin cells, acts a protective shield, and prevents harmful rays of the sun from entering and damaging the skin. Now, this melanin production is increased in response to many intrinsic as well as extrinsic factors, the most important of these being sunlight. Sunrays contain 'Ultra- violet radiation' or ‘UV radiation' which penetrates the skin, stimulates these melanocytes and causes increased melanin synthesis. Moreover it also causes the increased distribution of the already synthesized melanin to the epidermal keratinocytes, and this is the most immediate and a relatively temporary response to significant sun exposure. This increased melanin production is responsible for tanning or causing the skin to appear darker than before. Therefore, to prevent this increased melanin production, we must protect our skin from sun's harmful radiation, such that the skin doesn't have to manufacture this protective pigment to shield itself.Adequate sun protection not only protects tanning , but also protects one from premature ageing and skin cancer.Measures for sun protection include :Avoiding sunlight especially between 10am–3pm.Using physical measures such as an umbrella, long sleeved clothes and caps/hats/ scarves.Using a Sunscreen- a chemical that prevents UV radiation from entering the skin.Using curtains, films etc to prevent entry of excessive sunlight in an indoor setting.#Helpful tip: Use a Sunscreen- that is 24–30 SPF, and has UVA protection as well, often denoted as PA + or PA++.Using a Sunscreen- beyond SPF 30, rarely has an added advantage, but significantly increases the cost.Use atleast 3 ml ( one and a half teaspoonful) of sunscreen over the face and neck, and apply this half an hour before venturing outdoors.Reapply in 2–3 hours especially post sweating etc.#Happy Summers !☀☀☀

How can I reduce the melanin produced on my face?

Believe it or not there are actual creams that can help reduce the production of melanin in your skin. The most commonly used cream is called Tri-Luma. You need to have a doctor prescribe it for you.The other way you can reduce the production of melanin is actually by avoiding UV radiation. The more you do radiation comes in contact with your skin the more your skin will try to protect itself by producing melanin. Therefore a good sunscreen is key to keeping the production of melanin lowing your skin. Remember melanin is produced by your skin to protect it from Sun damage. In my practice, I often prescribe a really great bleaching cream that not only reduces the production of melanin but also gets rid of the melanin that's already deposited on the skin to create a glowing complexion. I do advise all my patients to wear sunscreen, hats, and protective clothing went out in the sun! Best of luck to you

Is there a way for someone to reduce the pheomelanin in their hair?

You cann reduce it with artifical hair color. Pheomelanian(The natural Red or blonde in your hair) and Eumelain(The natural black or brown) are the natural pigment in your hair, and without bleaching or coloring your hair, You CAN'T reduce it.

Where do caramel colored eyes come from?

Eye color is the result of the presence or absence of melanin in the eye. Without any melanin, the eye looks blue because the molecules in the eye scatter blue light, in much the same way that the sky and the sea scatter blue light to make the sky and the seas blue. Blue color in bird feathers is produced the same way, by scattering blue light. There is no blue pigment in birds and mammals.

The eye does not look blue when there is melanin (light absorbing pigment) present because the melanin absorbs blue light and other colors of light and prevents blue light from being scattered. There are two types of melanin: phaeomelanin (red) and eumelanin (brown or black).

If eumelanin is present in large amounts, then the eye will look dark brown or almost black. If, however, a small amount of phaeomelanin is present but eumelanin is absent, then the eye will reflect yellow light while failing to absorb the blue light. The yellow light combined with the blue light scattered by the eye will produce a green colored eye. If phaeomelanin is present in large amounts but eumelanin is absent, then the eye will look reddish brown, also known as hazel. Caramel is just another name for hazel. Therefore people who have hazel eyes simply have large amounts of phaeomelanin, but no eumelanin in their eyes. Reduce the phaeomelanin, then the eyes will look green. So, a child born with green eyes may grow up to have hazel eyes, because people tend to have more pigment in the eyes as they age.

Cats are the same. Many are born with blue eyes, but as they grow, pigments become present in the eyes, and their eyes change color. White tigers, OTOH, retain the blue eyes throughout life because they have a genetic defect which prevents their body from producing melanin. Although blue eyes look good, their owners are more likely to have eye cancer because there is no melanin to absorb the harmful UV lights that can damage DNA and cause cancer. A pair of glass sunglasses can reduce the risk, because glass absorbs UV light. Plastic lenses won't work and can actually increase the risk because plastic does not absorb UV light, and the dark lens dilates the pupil, allowing more UV light to enter the eye than if sunglasses were not worn.

Is there a natural way to reduce melanin pigment?

There are so many metabolic mechanisms going on in our body that either produce melanin or use up melanin. Ofcourse it's natural process going on in our body.So go with the flow. Otherwise you may use pharmaceutical drugs or products that does so. And it will be unnatural, ofcourse!
