Ipu Counselling: Is there a significant chance that many seats will be vacant in the spot round of GGSIPU?
As a Matter of fact there is a high chance of stream upgradation or college upgradation in 3rd round counseling but only if you lie near to cut off ranks. Spot round counselling makes the difference of about 100-300 ranks in cut offs. So think twice before you pay.If u have a chance to get into good university with chosen stream then go for it. Are there only 2 rounds in GGSIPU counselling for a BTech?
GGSIPU usually only conducts 3 rounds of counselling. If somehow seats remain vacant even after the 3rd counselling is over (usually when students give up their seats because they got into some better college), a spot round is conducted.I would advice to go for the spot round if you have not managed to secure a seat as you can end up getting into the top colleges if your luck favours you.Still I would recommend going through the admission guide given on their website for more detailed information.
Is there any chance of downgradation of seat in sliding round in IPU?
This does not answer your question directly but I am writing this to remove the misconception people are having regarding pt 8.(a) given in counselling procedure.Here is the screenshot.Now lets diagnose this point - understand it word by wordAfter the sliding round of online seat allotment - We can infer from this that the sliding round will be conducted online and they are referring to a time i.e a time after sliding round of online seat allotment which is 21st July. So this line can be replaced by “after 21st July”.the candidates - refers to the CET qualified candidates.If allotted a seat/retained the seat from earlier allotment - A seat being allotted can mean the seat is allotted for the first time in any rnds as per rank of the candidate. Now here come the devil “retain”. This word is not properly defined. The word retain is derived from an Old French Word retino - re + teneo which means to hold. So by the word ‘retain’ they could also refer to the freezed seats as the word freeze doesn’t suit here much. Also by the word ‘retain’ they could refer to a scenario where a candidate was allotted a seat in 2nd round and then he participated in 3rd round but didnt get nay upgradation so his 2nd round seat was retained. It is nowhere mentioned that the seat obtained in 3rd round can be retained in sliding round. This point just lists those candidates who have to report to verify their documents. That’s it. (This pt is abt reporting, not abt sliding / retention)/upgraded to a higher choice/preference - This can refer to the upgradation in the first 3 rounds or even in the sliding round.,and if he/she has made the payment of part Academic fee of Rs 40,000, he can generate provisional admission Slip - We can infer from this line that Rs 40,000 is a part of the Academic fee and those who have made the payment can generate the provisional admission slip rquired at the time of reporting.CONCLUSION -This point just lists the candidates who have to report after the sliding round to verify their documents.
Should I wait for the 3rd round in IPU B.Tech counselling?
Yes you should definately wait for the subsequent rounds to take place.I myself got Ece in USICT in the sliding round last year( 4th online round).And no need to worry about filling of seats prior to completion of all rounds. Last year there were about 20 seats vacant in ECE in the spot round. Even if you aim for IT/CSE ,seats would be available till last round though the cutoffs are quite high as compared to ECE.Hence it all depends upon your rank and choice of stream.Hope this helps :)
Is there any chance of getting admission in IPU after spot counselling in a B.Ed?
There is a very little scope of the possibility of admission to any course after the spot counselling as they are bound to fill seats in this round.They do everything including extending rank lists and specified round for filling each and every (maybe more if the college extends the seat matrix) in this round.So there is a very little possibility of admission to any of the affiliated colleges if you skip the spot round or miss it by any certain reason.Thanks.
Will I be eligible for subsequent rounds of counselling at GGSIPU if no seat is allotted in the first round?
If in the first round you are not allotted the seat then it is because you don't meet the cut off and in the subsequent round you might get allotted a seat if you meet the cut offAllotment of seat also depends on your choice filling preference of the colleges under ggsipuThe university will first allot seats to those candidates who meet their cut off and also have preference for their college higher than other candidatesAnd at last to answer your question yes you will be eligible
