Is There Any Topic That You Disagree With Rush Limbaugh On

Why do you listen (if you do) to Rush Limbaugh?

Why do you not?Why do you listen (if you do) to NPR?If you are asking why you troglodytes are listening to that racist, bigoted, homophobe, I’m sorry I can’t help you. If this is the question you actually want to ask, you have already shown that you have a closed mind, and are only going off of bits and pieces spoon feed to you out of context by others who have never listened to his shows. If you are asking because you truly want to know why millions of Americans enjoy listening to Limbaugh every day, here is your answer. Because he is entertaining for a multitude of reasons. The reasons for some is that in the majority of media outlets (television, movies, radio, music, newspaper…etc) there is a decided lack of content that aligns with their values. Many people don’t find stoner jokes, oral sex references or the disparagement of their religion to be proper prime time entertainment.Others listen because long form political programs such as Rush, requires one to actively listen. It is not just music, ignored in the background. People actively listen to the show, engaging themselves in it while they go about other menial tasks. Some listen because he is informative, and often discusses topics that one does not get from other outlets. Often the things Rush talks about are ignored by other national news publications. Some of the items he covers are not covered elsewhere due to time or space constraints(Rush’s show is three hours, plenty of time), but often, they are not covered elsewhere due to personal or institutional biases. Did Rachel Madow do any commentary on Democratic Senator Bob Menendez’s corruption trial, MSNBC, NPR, Washington Post? Many listen because they agree with him, (majority of the time) and are looking for confirmation of their beliefs. This does not mean that listeners need him to tell them what to think, but that there is someone like themselves voicing that opinion. Some,I’m guessing not many, listen because they don’t agree with him. They are looking for the proof of why he is wrong, or for that poor wording that they can damage him with. They are doing opposition research. Many Others listen because he makes one think. And other listen simply because he is not the same songs being played every hour, hour after hour, after hour, all day long.If you are truly curious, just tune into his show and listen. Listen for an entire show, listen for an entire week

What do Republicans think of Rush Limbaugh?

Rush Limbaugh is considered a much needed jolt of Bacardi 151 to Conservative Republicans.   Rush is where Conservatives (not necessarily Republicans) turn for a dose of the strong medicine that Limbaugh has continuously refined since his emergence in the wake of President Ronald Reagan's veto of the Fairness Doctrine in 1987. Limbaugh espouses a brand of Conservatism in the United States that he firmly believes is an answer to the country's challenges.  An ardent admirer of conservative movement icon, William F. Buckley, Jr.., Limbaugh delivers the same message in a much different manner.  Limbaugh is loudmouthed and humorous where Buckley was articulate and reserved.  Ironically, Limbaugh, and some of his fellow Conservative talkers found success like some tech titans.  The common thread between Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Larry Ellison (business person), Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg is that not one of them earned a college degree and they are all very wealthy.  Is the Rush Limbaugh Show ending soon?  Not likely. The basis of that rumor was that Limbaugh might leave his flagship station News Talk Radio 77 WABC New York.  And if Limbaugh did leave WABC, he would surely end up on WOR in a New York minute.  WABC's station manager rather ill-advisedly blamed two quarters of below expectation sales to the Sandra Fluke flap.  Sadly, WABC seems to be the only affiliate among over 400 that has not enjoyed increased sales.  If it comes to a "this town ain't big enough for the two of us," the WABC station manager better start looking for a U-Haul.Why increased sales for Rush in the wake of Obama's re-election?  Because what is bad for Conservatives and Republicans is good for Rush Limbaugh.  Democrat victories means that more disappointed Conservative and Republican listeners will turn Rush for their jolt of strong medicine on an "as needed" basis.  You might even call it "The West Wing (TV series) Effect."  During the Bush administration, Liberals and Progressives turned to this popular television series to see the politics they desired - a form of fantasy shadow government.  When the Republicans enjoyed dominance in all three branches of government from 2001 to 2006, their constituents didn't have as much motivation to listen to Rush and they often turn to less political content as they are the party in power.

What are some of the topics covered in The Rush Limbaugh Show?

With the largest listener base in the country, Rush spends the majority of his 3 hour show discussing current events from a conservative perspective, mixed with humor and a bit of self-importance thrown in for good measure. Topics include: any contemporary topic, he discusses them all.

Why do people listen to Rush Limbaugh?

Simple people seek simple solutions to complex problems. The world is confusing to the poor little minds and someone with a big mouth, telling them everything will be better if they just hate choice, gays and freedom, is very appealing.

What do christians think about rush limbaugh?

I'm a Christian, and I can't stand him. The very sound of his pompous voice and his arrogant ramblings grates on my nerves. He has a right to his opinions, but I also have a right to say that I disagree with the vast majority of those opinions. Then again, I'm not a right-wing conservative, and never have been. He is a spokesperson for a worldview that I just cannot accept or agree with in good conscience.

What will Rush Limbaugh be remembered for?

Up until 1987 there was a “fairness doctrine” in public broadcasting which promoted equal time for opposing viewpoints. The intent was to encourage public discourse on topics of the day. The FCC repealed the rule in 1987 citing the topics discussed were limited in scope. Perhaps the media didn’t want the confrontation caused by controversial issues. After that time the media went to partisan one sided discussions promoting their political point of view. Opposing viewpoints are seldom if ever allowed and callers most always agree with the host, such as Rush Limbaugh. If you are in political agreement with the host you don’t have to listen to the other side of the issue. Sort of a closed minded means of obtaining information. Recently there has been some discussion as to reinstating the “fairness doctrine” considering how polarized our country has become.

Do you think callers to the Rush Limbaugh radio show are real or actors?

During my years in radio, I have served as a producer/call screener, so I can answer with some authority. The callers are real. That said, the role of the call screener (the person you talk to when you call in) is critical for Rush’s program. “Bo Snerdly” (I don’t know if there’s a real “Bo” or if that’s just the generic nickname Rush gives his screeners) has one job: to put through callers who will make Rush sound good. Rush has made this clear on his show and it’s no secret. The callers that make Rush sound good are ones who agree with him totally or who are “liberals” that “Bo” decides will make easy pickings for Rush. Arguing with a skilled talk host is much like trying to heckle a veteran comedian. You better be good and you better have a thick skin otherwise you’re probably going to end up looking really foolish. When you’re talking about local talk shows with a smaller audience the hosts are generally scared to death of an empty phone board and the screener’s job then just becomes taking the caller’s name and what topic they want to discuss. At that level call screening is basically an entry level job.
