Is There Anything I Can Do To Help Myself Sleep

I feel sick after sleeping out in the cold, what can I do to help myself to feel better? ?

Well, it's winter, it was below freezing, and windy, and I had to sleep in a deserted run down camper with holes in the walls, and huge icy drafts sweeping through, whole night. There was mold all over the placed it was gross. I didn't have enough covers, and they kept coming off, and every part of me that was exposed including my head was extremely cold. I kept waking up, and being oddly cramped, and shivering, it was miserable. Now it's the next day, as soon as I woke up I was shivering violently, my entire head was so stuffed up that I could barely breath out my noise, and my sinus's are under so much pressure it feels like my eyes are bulging. Nothing felt quite real. I am finally back in a warm house, I got a shower and took some decongestants, but I still feel terrible. Going to the doctors isn't an option, no money, is there anything I can do to treat myself? Like home remedies, anything? Help is greatly appreciated.

Cutting myself in my sleep?

It sounds like you are sleepwalking due to frustration and troubles in your mind and life. While sleeping you must be cutting yourself.
As a cutter myself I can tell you see a Doctor as soon as possible. You are in a extremely dangerous situation. Do you live with family or a roommate? Someone you can tell who can help you with this at night by sleeping in the same room? Consider staying with friends if no one can stay with you.
I wish there was more I could tell you. Something that would help more. My prayers are with you. And my best wishes as well.

What can I do to help myself, and my children, fall asleep on a very hot night?

Wrap a half full frozen gallon jug of water in a light blanket or towel and cuddle with it. Smaller ones can be used around the head. If you cool the back of your neck, wrists, inner elbows/knees, and/or armpits/groin, and/or under the breasts (if applicable) it'll help you feel cooler. Sleep under a cool damp towel, wet your hair with cool water, be creative with it.I use ziplocs and ice. Straight down the shirt.

What can I do to help myself study at night and not sleep?

Sleep properly in the daytime then you would be able to study in night.Don’t start with the topics you don’t know or even heard of first go with the basis of whatever you are going to start.don’t keep your mobile phones charged if you are addicted let your phones should be switched off.Your diet also matters so do not each that much that you can barely sit straight and study.Always try to study in table chair.Do not study in dim light or low light it will seriously affect your eyes.Take breaks when you need it and remember not to touch your phone when you are taking breaks.drink adequate amount of water.and all of it don’t do too much workout in the evening so that you cant even sit due to tiredness or fatigue. these are the ways by which you can start and don’t think that studying for one day you could be the next einstein. be focused. these are just for your start as soon you feel comfortable with these ways you can develop your own ways.

How to knock myself out so I can sleep ?

Sleeping pills can give you bad side effects such as headaches and drowsiness during the day so you are better off without them.

To sleep better just relax and switch off, if you can.

If you are having trouble switching off at bedtime some light exercise (for example, push ups or sit ups) at bedtime often helps you to relax, unwind and switch off and that often improves your sleep. Strenuous exercise at bedtime is likely to ruin your sleep.

Common OTC sleep aids include Chamomile tea, 5-HTP, Melatonin and Valerian Root.

Sleep enhancing foods include warm milk, turkey, cherries, oatmeal, bananas, wine and others as in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22s...

How do I help myself not falling asleep while reading books?

The answer might depend on what you are reading and for what purpose are you reading.Fiction: I actually enjoy reading fiction before I go to bed. I find it helps me to fall asleep. Now I realize this is the opposite of what you are trying to accomplish so lets work backwards from here.Nonfiction: I don’t want to fall asleep when-or immediately after- reading a non-fiction book so I don’t read it at bed time. I find that I stay awake and focused much better when doing early morning reading.Audio books: I love reading while walking or doing low-cognition type work (pulling weeds, cleaning, etc.) I find that a good audio book actually motivates me to go on longer daily walks because I get so engrossed in it I forget I am exercising. I have never fallen asleep while walking, FYI. (Reading in this manner can also be a great motivational tool to help me get my daily exercise.)Tired nonfiction: If I have to read nonfiction and I am tired I won’t sit in on the couch or a comfy chair but instead sit at a table. To stay awake and cognizant I must also take notes as I read to keep my mind active.I hope one of these Ideas helps.

Is there something I can do to stop myself from screaming in my sleep?

Keep your mind calm while sleeping buddy!!You may also be a patient of "sleep apnea" …, The very moment you come out of that state, the state of sleep paralysis, joy of coming out of it and the fear and stress experienced during that time makes you talk or throw tantrums or sometimes you may tend to yell(but may fail in doing so).Your brain does that to ensure that you are out of sleep apnea.( because you cannot speak when you are in that state, no matter how hard you try..!!)The more you speak involuntarily the more your sub-conscious mind will feel better, it is its natural way of calming it down.If you are not a patient of sleep apnea then identify the topics of your sleep talks (From the same person who told you, you talk in sleep). And try to figure out your problem and make sure you ignore things related to that thing in your day to day life. Also prepare your mind to wake up on certain gestures or some special words or phrases. The moment you are in sleep and you feel that you are talking, you can do those gestures or say those phrases and wake yourself up.If none of these work then do give a thought of seeking professional aid.Greetings.

What can I do to help myself fall asleep faster at night, and feel more well rested in the morning?

Google “Sleep Hygiene” so you get a feeling for what the experts have to say about it and how necessary it is, but basically it is to prepare for bed as if it were a trip. Leave every evening at the same time and arrive at the same time the next morning. Most say don’t read a book or watch TV. I say, do whatever makes you drowsy (sex is best) in less than 1/2 hour, and TV news does it for me. I always take a warm shower before bed.It turns out, nearly everything I’ve been taking to fall asleep: diphenhydramine, gabapentin, Xanax all cause short-term memory obstruction. I’ve switched to Ambien prescription sleep med. Melatonin and aspirin are okay. Melatonin although it keeps one asleep, can stop the body from producing it so up to 30, no more than 3 mg, 30 - 50, 5 mg. After 50 10 mg helps. One aspirin is to prevent strokes and heart issues while asleep. I don’t have any choice on gabapentin so far. I must take it.Warm milk, 6 oz is recommended. The french call brandy eau de vie and take an ounce before retiring. I save the brandy as my last weapon to go to sleep. Alcohol is a lousy sleep-aid, as it puts you to sleep, then wakes you an hour later, but melatonin stops that.
