What are the withdraw symptoms of citalopram (celexa)?
I have recently stop taking celexa and have had dizzyness, a shocking taste and feel in my mouth also very sleepy. Are these normal symptoms? I was also on paxil and have stoped taking it for about two weeks. I stopped taking the celexa about 72 hours ago. How long will these symptoms last? I needed to stop taking this medication because my husband and I want to have a baby. How long will it be in my system. On the Paxil I could not get pragnet at all because It gave me long hard periods. We switched to the celexa thinking it might be safer but we read it can cause lung problems and desided it wasn't worth the risk. Is there any antianxiety medication I can take that will be safe during pragnacy? I have flash backs and nightmares also along with anxiety. They are the same symptoms people from war have. thanks for any answers on this
Citalopram Withdrawal?
I have been on Citalopram 20mg dose for a few months now for anixety. I am starting some therapy which I have been instructed that I must be off all drugs before the start of. I only took the 20mg dose regularly for about a month or so, and kind of took it 'here and there' over the last two months, never really being dilligent about it for more than two weeks at a time it seems. I would alternate 20mg/10mg. Anyway, I have been off it completely for about 8 days or so now, and even though I have a 'low dosage' and have only had the meds for a few months, I have been feeling nauseous now for the last 2 or 3 days, and have had light-headed/dizzy spells? Is this normal? How long can I expect this to last? I know I shouldn't have just stopped cold turkey, but I feel like being off for over a week now, it would be counter productive even to take a small dose just to feel better and ween off. Any experiences with this?

Yes, definitely. It promotes sleep and lowers the seizure threshold as well as the more well known relaxing effects.However, the strain that you smoke will have a large effect as well. I would recommend a pure indica such as Northern Lights. Too much sativa may promote anxiety which is not what you need when coming off benzodiazapenes.

Some of these drugs (i.e., bupropion, mirtazapine, nefazodone, trazodone, trimipramine) appear to have a modest or minimal effect on REM sleep.Nervous system side effects including headache (26%), dry mouth (20%), increased sweating (11%), tremor (8%), dizziness (2%), and sleep abnormalities have been reported. Paresthesia, and migraine have been reported frequently.
