Is This A Decent Video Gopro Skydiving

How do I start making YouTube videos? What equipment is required?

I really dislike phones as primary video capture devices.  They have limited storage, poor optics with no image stabilization, and terrible audio.  On their plus side they're convenient, nearly everyone has a video capable phone these days making them ubiquitous, and most of the new ones have good sensors.  To make a phone a better platform for your YT vids, try these steps:1) Get a Tripod.  This will stabilize your shots, though the one I linked to here looks like garbage, but it's got 4.5 stars, so who knows.2) Get a basic plug in mic, be it a Lavalier Lapel Clip-on or a Shotgun Microphone, and that will improve your sound immensely.  You can get way fancy with mics, but that a discussion for another time.3) Use the back camera, not the front one.  You will wind up looking at your own face and not the lens if you use the front camera.  The lens in your audience, make eye contact with the lens.  Avoid the whole problem by using the better quality camera on the back of the phone.4) Better yet, use a Webcam plugged into your computer and avoid many of the pitfalls of a phone all together.  Then the camera has all the storage of your computer, you don't need to transfer the video or convert it, and you can still use your tripod and microphones.  Avoid using the computer's monitor as a tripod or you'll get stuck looking into your own eyes instead of the webcam's lens.5) Lighting.  Get yourself something to light your face, and don't sit with a window over your shoulder like this:It's perfect if you want to hide your identity, but bad for publicity. Then you just need editing software.  I've answered that question here on Quora too many times to count.  Here's the most recent one.Greg Wyatt's answer to As a Mac user, is Final Cut Pro the best video editing software for YouTube videos or is there other software that works best for this purpose? If I were in your shoes just starting out, I'd try Resolve, Premiere, and Vegas all for free, then pick the one I liked the most and stick with it.  If you don't feel like jumping into a professional program, try the basic ones first: Windows Movie Maker for your Windows computer and iMovie for your Mac.Good luck!

GoPro: Can GoPro cameras be used for normal shooting also?

Short answer: Yes with some inherent limitations.GoPro cameras are primarily designed for action. By action i mean, sports, concerts, news, adventure etc. Hence, small form factor (size) and ultra wide field of view. While it offers unique perspectives for both stills and videos, it has limitations as well. It has fixed lines with fixed focus. So, it will not be possible to take portraits with back ground blur (in other words no control over depth of field).Few other limitations:No zoom lens, no fiddling with settings such as ISO, Shutter speed, aperture etc. , No RAW supportOptions to consider: There are P&S cameras available for reasonable price which offer decent range of focal lengths and allow you to play around camera settings for better picture.

Is there any other camera that is better than the GoPro for the same price? I want to shoot a travel video and do a little bit of vlogging.

The best action cameras are Sony FDR-AX3000 and XiaoYi 4K 2+.First you have to think if you want all your videos to be ultra-wide-angle. GoPro and it's likes are highly specialized tools to film in situations where you can't use anything that handles better and gives you more control. Snorkeling, surfing, diving, flying, cycling, filming insides CNC machines, dog/cat view, etc…

Is it foolish to buy a GoPro when I already own a DSLR?

No, these two types of cameras have different usage. The rise of the GoPro and other action cameras has come to a point where it is just as familiar as a DSLR or mirrorless camera. BTW, GoPro isn’t the only company that produces quality action cameras. Sony, JVC and Panasonic all make great action camerasWhile it was originally designed for surfers, people started using the GoPro in so many different ways. Mountain bikers, skiers, skaters, divers, kayakers, climbers, skydivers and many more welcomed the GoPro very much. It was the first camera that put normal people in a position where they could capture amazing images that would previously require thousands of dollars in heavy gear - so that’s the main reasons why people chose GoPro vs DSLR - The World of the Action Cam (more detailed comparison). An action camera could easily capture photos like this one, what is not accessible for a normal camera:

Do YouTubers still like to Vlog with GoPro cameras?

I recently went on a 10 day trip to the mountains. So I took my Sony DSLR and a GoPro Hero 5 along with me to vlog on my trip. I have a proper vlogging setup of my Sony DSLR mounted on a gorilla pod and a shotgun microphone. And my Hero 5 on a three-way foldable selfie stick. As days passed by I found myself comfortable vlogging more on hero 5.Reasons?It is small so it does not grab a lot of unwanted attraction.I used the quick start option to boot up the camera fast…this way I was ready to not miss any important shot.Luckily Hero 5 comes equipped with 3 microphones which work very well in windy situations. Check out my this video where I hooked a GoPro on a stunt kite. Except for some B-rolls, the whole video is shot on GoPro. GoPro Hero 5 on Kite / How to fly stunt kite. Tips. The FOV can be adjusted and it has fixed focus. So there’s no way you can be out of focus. The GoPro app makes your life easier, as you can transfer and share your moments directly to social media.Just carry an extra battery with you and you can vlog for a whole day. However, I did vlogging on a few places and where I had to shoot something from a distance.
