Is This A Good Example Of Liberal

What does it mean to be liberal, and what are some examples?

Liberals tend think for themselves using evidence. Conservatives tend to trust authority to tell them what to believe. They tend not question this authority. A great example of this is how many more liberals there are involved in higher education. Another great example is religious conservatism.Liberals are more concerned about making sure things are OK for everyone. The health care issue is a good example of this. The U.S. is the only developed country that is still trying to make a market based health care system work. The rest of the developed world gave up on this idea decades ago as the outcomes were on average not very good. During this time the U.S. has gone from the best health care system in the world to barely in the top 20.Liberals believe that in order to make significant progress people need to work together. Conservatives tend to believe in the myth of the “rugged individual.” You really cannot get much done by yourself in the modern world as we are so interdependent.Liberals believe that we should own and do some things “in common.” A conservative approach to a system of roads would be to have a private company build a toll road. This has been done. It has not been done much as it does not work all that well. If we took a conservative approach to infrastructure would would not have much infrastructure. It generally more than pays for itself, but the only way to get it done seems to be coming together as opposed to a private market based approach.

What is a good example of a neo-liberalism state?

Neo-liberalism is almost exclusively a label used by people who do not know what (classical) liberalism is. Hayek, Hume, Adam Smith are highly recommended authors. Edmund Burke was also a classical liberal, as well as Lord Acton.Sweden in 1870, Britain in 1869 (the year before the British government meddled with education), the USA of 1885 are examples of close approximations of classical liberal states. In such a state, redistribution is called what it is, theft. People instead voluntarily help each other. There were Friendly Societies that dealt with everything that government could possibly be involved in, but in a much better way.

What are examples of liberalism?

Liberalism means to be open minded and to be willing to forsake poorer traditional values for the sake of something better.I would say Martin Luther King Jr. was probably the best example. If you read the letters from Birmingham prison, you can see clearly that there is a necessity for change in society, and yet he vigorously demands the maintain of values and principles which are the fundamentals of our society. His call for change was mostly successful due to his simultaneous call for peace. His pacifism in the face of racism showed our country what true virtue truly is.This is liberalism. If you abandon all of our principles and moral values in society simply because you want change, you're just a progressive. But if you can maintain the honorable teachings of our society while also calling for change, that is what makes you a liberal.

What are some examples of liberal arts?

I’ll first give Wikipedia’s definition: “[the liberal arts] can refer to academic subjects such as literature, philosophy, mathematics, and social and physical sciences”.In general, the liberal arts refers to those academic fields that are not strictly professional or vocational like medicine, business, and engineering. Most colleges are in fact liberal arts colleges; if you’re awarded a bachelor of arts, you’re getting a liberal arts degrees, and if you’re getting a bachelor of science from a non-engineering school, it is effectively a liberal arts degree. For example, some math departments give out a bachelor of science, but this degree is often just a more difficult bachelor of arts.Of course, when most people refer to the liberal arts, they are really talking about the social sciences/humanities. But it is important, especially for college-bound students, to understand that formally, the liberal arts differ from their colloquial definition. Consequently, liberal arts colleges like Williams (Go Ephs!) and Swarthmore aren’t places where you can only major in English or Political Science. In fact, Williams’s strongest departments are arguably its mathematics, physics, and economics department, for majors from these departments regularly go onto top consulting firms (like Bain and McKinsey), investment banks (like JP Morgan), and graduate schools (like Harvard and MIT). Thus, don’t just look at the Ivy Leagues and big-name universities for a good college! Many liberal arts colleges are just as prestigious in elite circles (e.g. Wall Street, D.C.) and provide a fantastic education.Case in point: I’m only a sophomore, and I’m preparing to publish a working paper in economics as a co-author. Many economics students don’t even publish until they’ve already got a Ph.D. and a tenure-track position!

Is Chicago the perfect example of a liberal utopia?

Chicago is filled with the most corruption in almost any major city! No kind of government works with corruption. Find me one form of government that can operate fine with corruption.

Is Los Angeles a good example of the negative impact of liberal politics?

How can a place with 58,000 homeless people continue to function?
http://www.latimes.com/opinion/editorials/la-ed-homelessness-impact-on-others-20180301-htmlstory.html

"As homelessness spreads across Los Angeles County — the official tally shows a 46 percent increase from 2013 to 2017 — it is drawing two conflicting responses, at times from the same people. There’s sympathy and a desire to help, but there’s also a sense of being invaded and perhaps even endangered — in terms of both physical safety and public health "

What's an example of a successful Liberal city?

Almost all of our largest cities are run by liberals. They are for the most part quite successful. There are exceptions like Detroit.

Republicans can't be entrusted with running our major centers of commerce and business.

The conservative cities you might rattle off are all smaller than Detroit, for example, with the possible exception of maybe 2 Republican-run cities.

Edit: The facts are against you on this one. For instance, Houston has a Democratic mayor.

Salt Lake City isn't even a third the size of Boston, using another liberal city example. Whatever you're trying to allege is on a very shaky basis.
