Is This A Good Tattoo Idea

Whats a good tattoo idea?

Regardless of his being of Persian decent, what did he talk and think about? Maybe all he talked about was his home country. If you have a picture of him, you could get a soft portrait, blending into a map shape of his beloved country. Whatever characterizes him as being who he was as an individual, that is the route I would take for a memorial tattoo. His interests, hobbies, cultural customs and so forth. And if you want his initials, maybe you could do his name in his native handwritten signature, if you have access to it.

Minnisotian for life eh?!? It must have meaning to you to get a state tattooed on you. Make it your own and add something to it or leave it just the outline of the state. Either way, it's your tattoo.

Is this a good Tattoo idea?

The pec or the bicep/tricep area is a good location, but that's not a good pic, shqipe. I like the way the wings are shaped, but that's it.

Sorry, but if you want the tat' to look good, tell the guy to make the eyes "evil" looking (triangular, like this for the right side: http://z.about.com/d/math/1/5/D/F/triang... ), or else it'll end up looking like a two-headed duck, seriously!

The talons and the beak w/tongue need a sharper detail, too.
This pic looks better:

- but I'm not crazy about the tongues looking detached and the feathers making up most of the wingspan...

Make sure the wings look wide enough, not too wide, but not puny, either. Also, the feather count is important! Nine on each wing, seven on the tail.

For the talons, tell the guy to make it look like the eagle is clawing into your skin, if you want. This will look sick!

Make sure you tell the guy to make different sketches first (solid color like the flag, just the outline, with lifelike details, artists own creativity), then choose which you like best or mix different ideas and ask for modified sketches.

These should be your main concerns on detail:

Is a neck tattoo a good idea for your first tattoo?

I would say no, it's actually a really bad idea. Most reputable, quality tattoo artists would advise against it for several reasons. So I would question how good an artist is that is willing to put someone's first tattoo on their neck. Here's a hint, if they aren't at a professional studio, they do it out of a suitcase, or are willing to do it for free-RUN!!!!  Your life actually could depend on it (diseases). Some things to consider when thinking about this:1. The skin on the neck is extremely thin and delicate in most places. This means it can be tricky to get the dye under the skin properly (hence the need for a good artist).2. The neck is packed full of nerves. Tattoos are painful. SO getting something painful done in a place full of nerves to carry pain signals?  OUCH!3. Depending on gender, placement, and type of tattoo, it can and will affect how people view you and your options for employment. Sad, but true. It can be hard to cover up, many associate neck tattoos with gangs and 4.  Since this will be your first tattoo, you have no idea how you will react to the pigment. You could have a severe allergic reaction to the pigment, which could cause you problems. It could also be difficult to care for, depending on location.5. Tattoos can blur, fade, or break down over time. Sun exposure and movement of the skin can speed up the process. The skin on your neck will be exposed to sun and move more often than you think. So, most tattoos on the neck look blurry, indistinct, or badly done due to these factors. Before getting a neck tattoo, really think about WHY you want one on your neck, and what you want from it long term. It is a long-term commitment, more so than marriage. If you just want something to make you look like a "bad-ass", you are probably getting it for the wrong reasons. I recommend seriously thinking about placement, type of tattoo and why you want the tattoo and for it to be placed somewhere. I also recommend talking to several good, reputable, tattoo artists about tattoos and placements and LISTENING to what they say. They know more than you do about tattoos, so they are the ones with the information you need to know. Thanks for the A2A @Melissa Stroud!

Is this a good tattoo idea (birdcage)?

I turn 18 this month and I'm ready to get my first tattoo.
A lot in my life has changed in the last few months. And my tattoo reflects this and my new outlook on life.
I want an open birdcage high on my right thigh. The birdcage symbolizes freedom. But it's a deeper, personal reason for me. Over the past couple of years I have come to question my faith (Christian-Methodist). I have come to the realization that I do not believe in a god or anything I grew up believing. I have now admitted to myself that I am an atheist. -This is not up for religious discussion or argument-
Anyway, the birdcage symbolizes the freedom of mind and thought I now own through letting go of my religious binds. I am capable of thinking for myself without rules or laws to follow. I am a free thinker. This new-found freedom of mind and thought has become a relief and I am in general a happier person. I'm happier than I ever was when I was a Christian. I feel free and my own person, not a mold to fill like the many other brainwashed (too harsh?).
Is this a good reason to get a tattoo? It is very personal to me and makes me happy.
My only problem is having to explain to people the reasoning of the tattoo. It is scary, living in a very religious (Southern Baptist) town to come out about being atheist. It's social suicide in my town. Do I need to be broad and explain to friends and family that it just symbolizes freedom, period. Explain that it's a very personal reason, or should I be brave and explain the truth of my beliefs?
Thanks :)

Good small tattoo ideas?

I like stars and have several of them, one being a small pink star with a black outline and then a white outline. It looks kind of like a sticker.

It is my understanding that the smaller the tattoo the less detail. This is what I have been told and I am not sure if this is an absolute.

As a side comment: As for the one person's answer that your skin will be saggy at 40...I am over 40 and my skin doesn't sag. In fact, I don't think I have seen a 40 year old with saggy skin. Maybe 80 but not 40.

What are some good small tattoo ideas?

Short quotes can be done nice and small. Flowers, too, and they have specific meanings. Important names and dates are nice. A little symbol of national or cultural pride is fun. If your Scottish, Welsh, or Irish, you might like a celtic knot, all of which have special meaning. This is my maple leaf tat, celebrating when I went to grad school in Canada.Talismans, like animals that are important to you, significant objects that bring you comfort, passages from your book of worship, or a symbol are great. Google what you want to symbolise, then find the image. Just don't steal from other cultures.Think of what you want the tattoo to mean for you, then work backward. Google that feeling or idea to find a symbol, phrase, or image. Do you want to show independence? Hope? Strength? Do some brainstorming on paper.

What are good concepts, and ideas for tattoos?

8 Year ago when I decided to get my first tattoo done (on my arm) I seriously had no idea what to put or what to do.All I knew was - I wanted a tattoo. So guess what I did do?I went to the tattoo artist and told him - just put whatever you want.Im not joking. It made life for me so easier. And since then - I asked the Tattoo artist to put on my body what he thought was the best of what he could do (the only exception being the face of my ex-girl)What you can put is your wish. But here are a few DO NOT’s I would recommend.DO NOT PUTReligious Tattoos or Cultural Tattoos you do not understandTattoos in different languagesHate TattoosCheap TattoosAnything to belong to a group or gangAny celebrities TattoosTattoos about the futureYour Lovers Name, Date of Birth or ImageGet tattooed out of impulse or because you are intoxicatedFortunately for me - the Tattoo artist I went to - put horror faces - something I ended up loving. But if I had to go back in time and do it all over again - I suppose I would have put a theme. So if you ask me - Get a Theme done. You will never regret it.Loy Machedo

What are good tattoo ideas for a teenager?

Honestly, the answer that said “get something real small, maybe a rose” makes me cringe.Sounds like dreadful advice to me.Get something really cliche, picked off the wall of a studio somewhere. Get it so that it’s big enough that you can notice it (otherwise what’s the point) but small enough so that it’s left there, floating, randomly. It’ll look awful.Get whatever you damn well want. That’s the truth of it. If you’re old enough to get a tattoo in your area, then knock yourself out. But, you’ll be living with it FOR LIFE.Why are you even asking what you should get? If there isn’t a design you want, you just want a tattoo, then you’re not emotionally mature enough to be making decisions like that. So, you have a design… You can start with a tattoo in a “less obvious” area. For example, I have a full back piece. It’s pretty big. But much less noticeable than a small tattoo on my face would have been.Consider your working life. What kind of jobs do you want to do? A lot of places won’t hire people with sleeves or visible tattoos for customer facing roles. Luckily I work behind a laptop in a dark corner, so I don’t need customer facing, and if it was ever an issue for an afternoon, I’d wear a shirt to cover them.Consider your personal life. Do people will full body suits find wives/husbands easily? Are you into other heavily tattooed people?Really, just don’t bother unless you’ve carried around a drawing or picture of a design you want for 6 months to a year, and every time you look at it throughout the day for 6 months, you think “yeah I’d love this permanently drawn onto my skin!”.But yeah, most importantly, don’t end up with a small “tramp stamp” of a rose dotted someone in a massive area of your body.
