What are the near death signs of parvo?

I'm very sorry to hear about your puppy. I hope he is receiving treatment at the animal hospital where he was diagnosed.

Parvo is a virus that attacks the lining of the digestive system. It causes dogs and puppies to not be able to absorb nutrients or liquids. Puppies are especially prone to it because they have an immature immune system. When dogs and puppies contract parvo, they often have diarrhea, vomiting and lethargy. Usually they stop eating and develop a bloody, foul-smelling, liquid stool.

Symptoms usually begin with a high fever, lethargy, depression, and loss of appetite. Secondary symptoms appear as severe gastrointestinal distress, such as vomiting and bloody diarrhea.

Without intense treatment, the victims of parvo die of dehydration. Treatment generally consists of IV or sub-cutaneous fluids and antibiotics. There is no cure. Veterinarians can only treat the symptoms, and try to keep the dog alive by preventing dehydration and loss of proteins. Treatment for parvo is mostly that of supporting the different systems in the body during the course of the disease. This includes giving fluids, regulating electrolyte levels, controlling body temperature and giving blood transfusions when necessary.

If your dog becomes infected with parvovirus, he has about a 50-50 chance of survival. If he makes it through the first three to four days, he will usually make a rapid recovery, and be back on his feet within a week. It is vital, however, that he receives supportive therapy immediately. It must be stressed that this is not a bad case of doggy flu; without medical treatment, most puppies die.

I hope this information helps you. Good luck to you and your puppy, I wish you the very best.

What are the signs that shows your death is near?

I’m not 100% sure there is a true answer to this. And i’m quite certain that there isn’t a global (universal) answer to it that is true for everyone. All I know is that certain people seem to know when their end is near.In the old days, (usually) elderly people would sometimes say bye to everyone, and head off to a mountain, or the forest, and basically live as a hermit waiting to die. Sometimes, they’d have a younger person who’d come to them to bring them supplies, or to bring back a book or letters they had written, but most of the time, this didn’t last very long. One of my grandfathers died many years before I was born. My mom told me that the week before he died, he had a lot of trouble sleeping, and despite the fact he worked 20 hour days, he’d go for long walks after he got home. My mom said he was unusually quiet and somewhat sad. She is convinced he knew he was going to be leaving soon.My grandmother had a lot of conflict in her life before she died. The month she died, she sent us a letter which just emanated peace.I had a friend many, many years older than me; he, too was a tortured soul. I didn’t see him the last month of his life, but about 2 weeks before he died, he sent me an email to check on me, and tell me how he was doing. He had made peace with everyone, and I felt like he had gotten a new lease on life. After he died, I realized he knew he was going to leave soon, and had to get ready. Now I’m sure someone reading this is probably objecting, ‘yeah, but I know a lot of people who say they think they’re gonna die soon, and they’ve been saying that for years’. Sure, that happens, too. But something I’ve noticed about the people I’ve known who I think knew they were leaving soon: they never told anyone they thought they were going to die. This is a very sad subject, and the thing that keeps me from despairing over it is one of the most beautiful things ever written, a literal gift to man from God:‘The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.’ (1 Corinthians 15:26)What a day, glorious day, that will be.

My dog has Parvo. Near death signs?

If your mom has a job, you can get CareCredit or Citibank. There is no need for your dog to die. Get up, get her to the nearest emergency 24 hour pet hospital and apply.

I had to use it for my dog (for an emergency C section which is far more expensive). There is no reason for you to simply let her die.

Why are you only thinking of yourself?

EDIT: Not many people have $300 "lying around". I didn't but I sure wasn't thinking something like "Gee, what if she cries while she's dying and keeps me up so I can't go to work in the morning!". I took the day off work, took her to the vet, applied for CareCredit at the vet's office and saved her life. It took me 3 months to pay it off (in today's equivalent in some cities it would be close to $1400) , but I did, and today she and her puppy are 2 of the loves of my life. I don't regret the time or the money, and I sure haven't spent time kicking myself for being a selfish, shallow jerk.

Sheesh, why do some people get dogs?

Add: Waaa, it's your worst birthday ever, and your dog not only will never see another one (of her own) but died in pain with nothing but a self-interested twit for an owner. You and your mom are what's cruel.

Touch`e, and PLEASE, rehome the dogs you have and don't get any more, ever...

Puppy near Death Parvo?

Found a puppy on holidays on the side of the road near a sm shop in a sm town i just moved to. I have advertised him as found but 2 wks later have come to the conclusion he was dumped. Anyways he was healthy til 2 days ago and he'd gone downhill fast i beleive him to have parvo as he is displaying all symptoms. My dog wont go near him. I have him inside and have been forcing 5ml of water and 5ml of a mix i made (I cooked oats with sugar and a little salt and some tea and saved the water) every hour. i am rubbing a little honey around his mouth to keep blood sugar levels up. He started diarreoh last nite and it had blood in it this morning. He is keeping the fluids down however and wants company and is moving to go to the toilet. He even lapped some water himself last nite. His breathing is also heavy/congested. I'm so far out in the bush a vet is not an option. I'm doing all i can for him to keep him hydrated. My ? is how long for the virus to run it's course? Does anyone know how much asperin to administer he would be approx 3kg? Am i better of putting him out of his misery does he have a chance? Dont want to see him suffer if it wont be worth it for him HELP

What are the near death signs of parvo and what else can I use to treat at home?

I have a puppy that is almost 5 months old and she was recently diagnosed with parvo. It has been about 4 days since she started acting different and we took her to the vet yesterday who tested her for parvo and she came back positive. So he gave us 2 different medicines to give her and we are giving her pedialite every hour and chicken with rice baby food. She seems to be a bit more attentive than she has been but we're worried about her dieing.

So I was just wondering if anyone knew of anything else that we could give her? And what should we be looking for if she is close to dieing? She is basically drooling right now could we be giving her to much pedialite and therefore over hydrating her?

She also keeps walking over to her regular water dish and just standing over it. But she hasn't drank out of it at all. Can parvo affect there body control? She also hasn't went to the bathroom in a while so we're worried about that. She has had diarrhea maybe 3 times I think and maybe 1 time she has vomited I believe.

What are signs of death?

Possibly...I have found by experience that with cancer patients they will sleep more than the time they are awake when their bodies are near giving out...with stage 4 of the liver there's not alot to be done,it has probably metastisized to other organs by now....the doc's should be able to tell you that..also the next step from sleeping alot is they can become comatose...then a certain smell maybe present..once you've smelt it you'll never forget what it is..even if its years later when you smell it once again...that smell will tell you the end is very near unfortunately....my experience is working in the medical field and both of my parents died from cancer...as I was with them in the end....

Signs of impending death?

None of us can really tell you for sure. With no liquids at all, a person who starts off healthy can live for several days, perhaps up to a week. A person who starts off healthy and stops eating could live for several weeks. Your mother of course, is not starting off in the healthiest of conditions so the lack of food/water intake could affect her differently than it would you or I.

She could have a day left, she could have several weeks left. Or who knows, in a few days she may decide to eat small amounts of food and then it is more difficult to predict. Her health may decline even if she were eating and drinking healthily. My grandfather ate heartily and although he had cancer, he had received radiation therapy for it and seemed to be doing much better. Then one night he passed away in his home, and it came as a shock to us all, who thought he was getting better. Turns out a tumour had come back and perhaps caused an aneurysm or cut off oxygen to his brain in his sleep.

What I am trying to tell you is, it is impossible to know for sure how much more time she has left with you. But you cannot stay home from work every day and neglect your relationships with other family members for this. This is a difficult time and you need to keep some normal routine in your life for your own sanity. Does she have other children? Take turns staying with her. Go to work at least a couple of days per week, or simply get out for some fresh air for a bit. Spend time with her after work and bring over other close family members to visit. You are only one person and although you do seem strong, you cannot expect yourself to give up everything else in life to sit with her and wait for her time to come. You do not need to be beside her every single second to show your love and appreciation for what she has done for you.

Just spend what time you feel you can handle with her, and make your time together count. I wish you the best of luck in this difficult time, and don't neglect yourself!
