Is This Dress Okay For Prom I Am Having Second Thoughts Cause Of The Other Girls Dresses They Are

What is your opinion on the girl who wore a cheongsam dress to prom?

Thanks for the A2A, Audrey Chung!I'm actually Korean, but ya know the old joke… We Asians all look alike!Hardy, har, har!Anyway, Feifei Wang wrote a great answer to this from a Chinese point-of-view, so please allow me to piggyback and post it here:Feifei Wang's answer to What do you think about the girl being accused of cultural appropriation for wearing a Chinese pattern prom dress? Now for my $0.02 if you don't mind... I'm not one to get in a tizzy about “cultural appropriation” and”micro-aggressions.” If you ask me, this teenage girl looks absolutely stunning! For a Korean twist on things, did someone complain when Chloe Grace-Moretz wore the hanbok?Oh hey! Even Britney Spears got in on the action!Nevermind Britney's drama, but both these girls look absolutely gorgeous wearing the Korean hanbok. You go girls!!The point is, Chloe and Britney both wore the hanbok respectfully. There were no riots in Korea or in the Koreatowns because of “culture appropriation.” As if K-Pop and K-Drama weren't enough, Koreans were more than happy to get more international exposure to their culture. I feel the same way.So the teenage girl decided to rock a Chinese dress to her prom and looked good in it! You go girl!!BUT…Did you really have to go and do this??What a buzzkill, girl!OK, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and believe her when she says she “respects all cultures.” This reminds me of the many times people start chit-chatting with me and tell me they love Chinese food. When I tell them I'm Korean, they stop for a moment then continue to tell me they love egg rolls. Folks, this was ignorance. Bowing in that stance was uber ignorance at best. Believe me, I grew up with all kinds of ignorance and doing this can get borderline racist if the intent were there. She seems to be a clueless teenager who is rocking a Chinese dress. My recommendation to her is if she says she truly respects other cultures, she should at least read up on them as well. I sincerely hope this was a teachable moment for her.Well at least I'm glad Britney didn't bad mouth kimchi when she rocked the hanbok… and I'm not going to lose sleep over a teenage girl wearing a Chinese dress either.Cheers! ^^

I'm having second thoughts on my prom dress!?

i know this has been said before, but less is more!
at the awards this year the women were mainly wearing simple strapless gowns with no necklace and classy earrings! so you'll look like you came straight from the red carpet!

Is my floor length prom dress too short?

Hey,
so I think the whole elegant prom look is honestly not complete without a pair of heels. With flats, it would look off and like it was for mismatching occasions. I think you should for sure stick with heels, however if possible I would recommend buying some shorter heels. If not, I definitely do not suggest flats. All the attention to the extended length of the dress would be
too much of an outlier if you wear flats. Heels fix this situation, as they make the whole body have that long and tall effect, without a sudden stop at your feet that makes you look as if you are trying to hide your height. As if you were really tall, and trying to make yourself look short, right at the base of your body. Also, even if heels show your ankle, that is actually not a bad thing. It's prom, you're in high school, you want to show at least a little leg, right? haha :) Also, the ankle length will show off your shoes more!
In fact, lately, more and more prom dresses have been made specifically to be ankle length.

How To Convince My Mom to Buy Me a Dress?

Thanks for you suggestions, I wll keep them in mind, but I don't drive yet, so my mom always goes shopping with me. My birthday is in January, so I don't think I'd want to wait until then.. The Easter bunny still brings me a basket each yr, so I'm thinking of asking my mom to, er, pass the message along (plus, she owes me. My family always gets each other valenes and this yr she forgot and I got shorted. All i got was some stale chocolate from my great aunt (how does chocolate go stale!?!?! 80, so she owes me).

I can't decide which prom dress. Help?

Please don't pick the second one. I think the first one is better than the second one in terms of class and elegance. The ruffles on the second dress kills me a bit on the inside; kind of screams 'cheap' at me when I saw it. Plus, if your boyfriend is wearing his dress blues, I suggest you wear something more elegant and refined to match up with his style.

Prom: Emerald Green Dress, Red Lips?

I think it would look okay:)
But if you REALLY are doubting it, a light pink, maybe nude color would work. But I think it would still work out fine. Don't worry about what others think. if you truly like it, then you should wear it! I am sure you're going to look great. Have fun! (sorry if it's a little while from now :P my proms are usually near end of the year, but I don't go. But if I do, I wear my converse and skinny jeans under something not too dressy :) Oh look at that! Already rambling. But yeah. Basically, do what YOU think is best. And Christmas trees don't have faces :) Trust me, there's a very small chance of you looking like a tree :)
Have fun! :]

My parents forbid me from going to prom?

Although I'm only a freshman I've watched and helped other girls prepare for their junior/senior prom and they looked so beautiful and it was just so amazing I really couldn't wait until it was my turn. Except for one thing. I'm a Muslim and my parents say that no questions asked I'm not going to my prom when the time comes, even though they went to both of theirs. Their reasons are firstly, the cost, although I'm a designer and could very easily make my own dress and such for cheap. Second, the whole "no boys until marriage" thing, which makes absolutely no sense to me because how are you suppose to get married when you can't socialize with the opposite sex? And third, they just see it as unnecessary. They think school should only be for learning and nothing else so I'm part of no after school activities and must come straight home every single day even on Fridays. I'm a bit older since of a repeat in 8th grade so I'm 16 and my prom would be in 2 years which means I would be 18 - a legalized adult. Can they really tell me I can't go to prom? I really, really want to. Even though its far away and don't say they might change their minds because they've been saying this for years, even before I thought about going. What do I do? Thanks to all answers xx
