these kids at my friends school made a fake facebook account, and she is friends with that account. i asked her how she knew and she heard the creators talking about it in the bathroom (cause they didnt know she was there), and the profile picture and others pictures were taken off some other website. are fake facebook accounts illegal? would it be legal if they didnt take the pictures off other websites, or are fake fb accounts in gemeral illegal?? i dont want my friend to get in trouble if she friends with them, is it illegal to be friends with a fake fb account if you know its fake?? thank you! ps, what if someone makes a fake name because their parents dont want their real name online? is it illegal then??

I was looking at my friends facebook account, and saw he was 'married' to Katy Perry (even though he is only in Grade 8). Clicking on her account, I was confused as it looked legit. I eventually found out HE was that particular Katy Perry. He had taken a pic from the internet and created a fake account. I thought it was hilarious, and I've always had a bit of a crush on Mary Elizabeth Winstead. I just created the account, but haven't added any friends yet, as I just thought of the possible consequences. Is it illegal to create a fake account on Facebook of a real person?

My friends have been making fake facebook accounts. fake names, fake pictures. full on, fake. some kids at our school have eventually found out most of them are fake cuz of the pictures! they get them off of Photobucket and Google Images. stuff like that. they were like those fake emo chicks.. and maybe some other girls who look like sluts. i made a fake account but deleted it.. cuz its just stupid. this is quite pathetic.. but is this illegal? Like some type of fraud for taking REAL people's pictures?

Let me explain...My brother and his ex have a 4 yr old child that he has custody of. She quit her job about 4 days before they went to court for child support. They set the amount at very little. She didn't pay for many months so they went back to court for contempt. The judge told her to let the child support office know when she got a job. She just up and moves to Michigan one day, hasn't seen or spoke to her child in 5 months. She removed our family and any mutual friends from facebook and makes hers private so we can't see what she is doing. Which is fine, but it would be nice to know when she got a job so they can garnish her wages for the child support she doesn't pay. So if we made a fake facebook account with a fake name and she accepted us as a friend so we could see if she had a job would that be illegal in any way? Say if she started talking to us and we pretended to be this made up person to get her to tell us the info. Please only answer if you actually know the answer. We wouldn't use the facebook account for anything other than finding out if she had a job or anything else pertaining to her child.

So this kid (my bestfriends boyfriend) is like a psycho. I blocked him on Instagram and he keeps making fake accounts to try and stalk mine. And he makes it pretty obvious it's his account. The bad part is he uses names of people at my school. So he's posing as them. I wanna get a restraining order and stuff but I don't know if that's necessary. I would press charges if its illegal. But first I wanna know if its illegal or not

Fake account - yes, illegal. Fan Account for the celebrity - perfectly okay. Just make sure your "fake celebrity" account clearly states that this is a fan account in the info section and you should be okay.
