Is a laptop with GTX 1050 good enough for gaming?

You can consider GTX 1050 good enough if you are playing your games at low or medium settings. You can get around 40–50 FPS at medium (more FPS at low), it all depends on the game you are playing on your laptop.Older games (<2015–16) will give you an excellent performance but newer games (2017) like Mass Effect: Andromeda, Resident Evil 7, Ghost Recon: Wildlands will run near 30 FPS. Some newer games might be optimized to give a better performance but overall the performance will not be satisfying if you are a hardcore gamer. You can refer to this link for the benchmark details:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (Notebook)If you are just a casual gamer, this GPU will be good for you, but i would recommend upgrading to a GTX 1060 if it doesn’t exceed your budget. If you want i can suggest you some laptops as well.Hope this helps.

What games can an i5 laptop with Nvidia Geforce 940m (4gb) run?

A 940M isn't really well suited for playing games. For that you want a 960M, 970M or 980M - the nVidia GPUs ending with 40 and 50 are fairly weak and only suited for some games or low settings. They are not really made for gaming. While you can probably run everything out there right now don't expect any fancy settings. If it runs it will only run at low or medium-low settings, else you won't get a playable frame rate in a lot of games. To compare the performance of graphics cards we can use Futuremark's website as reference, they make some software used to test the performance of hardware and assign it a score useful for comparison.940M - 2450 score: NVIDIA GeForce 940M Review960M - 5320 score: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M Review970M - 10000 score: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M Review970 - 15790 score: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 ReviewI'm running a GTX 970 (Not an M-version for laptops, but a normal desktop version) and it gets 15790 score, quite a bit compared to the 940M. I can't run all current games on the highest settings, on some I have to cut down a bit on the visual fidelity in order to achieve a good frame rate. And for the games you mentioned. Your hardware exactly meets the minimum requirements for a Fallout 4, and is slightly over the minimum requirements for GTA V. However the minimum requirements is really the minimum, it won't give you a smooth experience.

Can Dota 2 run on Intel HD Graphics Family?

Yes it can, quite easily for that matter. Granted it won’t be running 60+fps, but you will still be able to run it with minimal to no lag.

Can a MacBook Air handle Dota 2?

It runs fine as long as you turn all settings to their lowest possible value. It will get hot so you might want to look into purchasing a cooling pad if you'll be doing this long term.As a side note, the game does run a bit smoother in boot camped Windows 7/8.

How do I configure Dota 2 to run on an old, low spec PC?

There are various ways you can increase performance in Dota 2, lets start with the easy ones. For more advanced users you may want to skip to the bottom.                                 If you are using Windows 7 start with disabling Aero:Right-click on the desktop and select Personalize. Choose the theme Windows 7 BasicIf you havn't already, lower the resolution and disable VSYNC under video settings.Note: Lowering the resolution can hinder game play and might be better to read on and play with some other settings.Next up hit advanced and play with the Advanced settings.Set everything to Low/Off and lower the render quality.Usually that would be enough to get people out of hot water however there are some commands we can use to further optimize our beloved Dota 2.Right Click on Dota 2 in steam and select Properties then Set Launch Options. In the box given I have typed the following to disable mouse acceleration and set Dota 2 to high priority: -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -useforcedmparms -high -consoleYou are also able to force a different version of directx other than 11 by adding in:-nod3d9ex (DirectX 9)-dxlevel 80 (DirectX 8.0) -dxlevel 81 (DirectX 8.1)Moving right along we will next navigate to where you installed Steam (Mine is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam) and then to the cfg folder SteamAppscommondota 2 betadotacfgMake a copy of the config file and rename it autoexecOpen your newly created autoexec.cfg file with notepad and delete the contents.Replace it with :dota_cheap_water "1"dota_embers "0"cl_globallight_shadow_mode "0"r_deferred_height_fog "0"r_deferred_simple_light "1"r_screenspace_aa "0"There are also some network commands you can change the values of however it is not fool proof and may actually make it worse:rate "40000"   Total bandwidthcl_updaterate "20"   Updates received per second.   20cl_cmdrate " 20"   Updates sent per second.   20    cl_interp "0"   cl_interp_ratio "1"   cl_smoothtime "0.01"   And that is it! Hopefully your 'friends' PC will limp along enough for their next upgrade. For further reading:http://dev.dota2.com/showthread....http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Dota_2
