Is This Most Likely A Wisdom Tooth

My wisdom teeth are pushing up on the tooth beside it. Should I get it pulled?

Visit a dentist, have an x-ray and you will most likely be advised to have the tooth/teeth extracted. People with retained wisdom teeth are far more likely to develop periodontal disease as most are quite ineffective in keeping them plaque free and clean. In my 37 years in the dental field, the vast majority of patients between 17–22 were recommended to have their wisdom teeth extracted to prevent future disease. In addition, as they push the other teeth forward, malalignment can occur and this is especially frustrating for those who have had orthodontic treatment to achieve good alignment.

How likely is death after a wisdom tooth extraction?

My aim of writing a reply is not to scare anyone but to make everyone aware of the medical facts.Death is one of the complications of any surgery. Complications can be attributed to the disease (high mortality rate), anesthesia or the surgical procedure. For example the patient is suffering from a serious systemic disease that contradicts a surgery and the patient doesn’t disclose it to the surgeon, he/she may collapse. As soon as Local anesthesia is given to a patient allergic to any of its constituents, Anaphylactic shock can happen and that is life threatening & fatal. As the surgeon makes an incision accidentally a major vessel is injured (Facial Artery in wisdom tooth surgery) and he is unable to control the bleed, the patient may die of blood loss. Thus the complication can happen but the rate or its probability that matters the most. Now the answer to your query is that there are almost negligible chances of someone losing life to wisdom tooth surgery. The most common complications of wisdom tooth surgery areRoot fracture (is removed without much a do).Injury to neighboring tooth (treatable).Injury to the nerve, recovers without treatment within six months to a year.Bleeding, can easily be controlled by an experienced surgeon.Jaw Fracture, infrequently occurs with a dentist who is not well trained in oral surgery, a complication that needs definitive management. To summarize please don’t avoid wisdom tooth surgery because of the fear of complications, get it done from an experienced doctor at a well equipped clinic. Have faith in your doctor. All of us earnestly try for the better health of our patients.

What are the likely problems when a gum grows over a wisdom tooth?

This situation will complicate the dental hygiene at that area. The most common problem is pericoronitis. When gum grows over the wisdom tooth, this allows an opening for bacteria to enter around the tooth and cause an infection. When that happens, the symptoms you will experience are:PainDifficulty in mouth openingSwelling in the gum tissue (caused by an accumulation of fluid)A "bad taste" in your mouth, which is caused by pus leaking from the gumsSwelling of the lymph nodes in the neck

Can wisdom teeth become loose?

I don't think I have ever seen a case where a wisdom tooth has fallen out on its own, not even with a case of severe periodontal disease. You should have the tooth removed for 2 reasons- first, if it breaks it might be harder to remove and second, if you get an infection than the anesthesia doesn't work as well when you do go to get it removed. Good luck

Can you get wisdom teeth when you are 10 years old?

You are 10 and you think your wisdom teeth are growing?K. Do me a favour. Count your teeth for me.Starting with your top front tooth on the right. Call that #1.Now count each additional tooth on the right side. How many teeth do you count?Do the same for the top left, bottom left and bottom right. If you count to 8, you have a wisdom teeth. Usually it erupts after the age of 16/17 to when you are in your early 20’s.If you count to 7, it is your second permanent molar coming in. A little early in your case but not by that much.If you count 6, the 6th tooth is your first permanent molar which should already be there because it erupts around 6 years old. After you count, please reply in the comments as to what you counted.

How can I treat an earache after a wisdom tooth extraction?

You wouldnt have an earache after a wisdom tooth extraction. What most likely happened is the tooth was impacted and your probably just feeling the pain from that. Takes about 2–3 weeks to settle down. The only other thing it could be is a infection. But to treat your wisdom teeth and possibly treat the start of a infection- gargle with salt water like the orthodontist said. And dont use or drink alchohol.

Brain tumor or wisdom teeth?

So I'm 15, i believe my wisdom teeth are growing in. It is causing a pressure pain sensation in the side of my face, and I feel it in my temple and my eye. can wisdom tooth growth cause this? . My hypochondriac mind thinks the pain at my temple could be caused from a brain tumor, although I have no symptoms. Should I get this checked? Or is my mind playing tricks on me

Why do i only have wisdom teeth on one side of my mouth?

Well there are two options here: 1. You don't have wisdom teeth on your left side. It is becoming more common for people to be missing one, some, or all of their wisdom teeth. Since most mouths are too small and also because the extra teeth are just not necessary, our bodies have evolved to not having them anymore. The other option is that your wisdom teeth on your left side are impacted. This simply means they are still in the gum. They could be coming in at a slower pace than the others or they could be stuck and might never come in. You should see an oral surgeon (check the yellow pages or ask your dentist) to get x-rays. The doctor will tell you whether or not it is necessary to get the teeth removed (sometimes it is necessary because it can cause pain and damage to your other teeth). Good luck!

What hurts most pulling your wisdom teeth out or cutting them out?

First of all you don't make the decision as to whether a wisdom tooth is "pulled" out or "cut" out. The oral surgeon who is doing the procedure is the one who makes that decision. I have worked in the dental field for 20 years, mostly as an oral surgery assistent so I know what I speak of. First you need to find yourself a highly skilled or highly recommended by a trusted dentist Oral Surgeon. Then go to the Oral Surgeon for a consultation. They will most likely take a Panoramic X-Ray which shows all your teeth and both your top and lower jaw. From this and an examination the Dr. will determine why, how and if your wisdom teeth should come out. If you are a very anxious patient then having a general anesthetic or what they call "twilight sleep" would be the way to go if your particular Oral Surgeon offers these options. If your extractions seem to be rather cut and dry, simple extractions, then using only a local may be enough although you will hear some odd sounds and feel the injections to numb you and pressure when the teeth are extracted. From my experience most lower wisdom teeth are usually at least partial boney impaction or full boney impactions. These types of extractions require the Dr. to make an incision in order to make a flap so he/she can see the roots of the tooth, then drill the tooth into several pieces and then remove the tooth fragments, and then pull the flap back up and suture it. I've seen upper wisdom teeth that kind of just "pop" out and I've seen some that need the procedure I've just explained. There really are no Pro's or Con's when it comes to getting your wisdom teeth out. Each patient is unique and requires their own "best way of doing the job" as decided by the Oral Surgeonand yourself after you have been told the situation and what the options for your personal case are. It's really just the luck of the draw when it comes to wisdom teeth. You've got what you've got and that's what the Dr. needs to work with. Be sure to ask all questions you feel you need to ask and follow all pre and post operative instructions to the letter. If you do these things then regardless of what procedure you need to have you will most likely come out of it just fine. Good Luck!

How much does it cost to have your wisdom teeth removed?

I just got my wisdom teeth pulled on Friday. It depends on if they are impacted or not. I payed $975 for all four. Two were partially in and the other two were not. I did not get knocked out, just the shots.

I know that it is expensive, but it is something that needs to be done. Check around and really listen to other people's advice on who to go to. Mine took less than 20 minutes for all four and besides the swollen jaw and bruised face, I am ok today.
