Is This Ok For A Starting Point Of Gothic Lolita

Where in the knoxville, tn area can i find a gothic lolita clothing store?

My home is close to dandridge, knoxville, and jefferson county. im in love with the gothic lolita fashion and my church is having an old timey day for 1900's-50's. Lolita was inspired during the edwardian fasion era and so influenced the lolita style. so i think its okay to wear that lolita clothing. we have found sites online, but it would be a close call and shipping is outrageous these days, so ive been looking for a store close to my house that sells gothic lolita clothing and items. if you could tell me, or give me a link to a website that has the real store listed, id appreciate it a lot! thanks so much for helping me out yet again.

Are there any good gothic lolita dating sites?

I wouldn't say that there is a dating site, specifically made for those interested in lolita fashion, but I know that the egl community on livejournal is a big place to make friends with the same interests. I recommend starting small and finding your own regional/local lolita community here instead of posting straight on egl...we get too many of those:

*scroll down please and thank you*

And um...try not to be creepy or rude, okay?

How would I crochet a Gothic Lolita skirt?

I've been looking for a gothic lolita skirt that's been crocheted all over the place and haven't found anything remotely resembling what I want. I just want a simple, bell-shaped skirt that's waist-high with frills that can either go over or under a nice, ruffly shirt I have. I don't really need a pattern so much as I need an actual skirt to go off of. I'm pretty good at spotting stitches and how to make patterns and am actually a very accomplished crocheter in terms of the actual mechanical work of crocheting. I've just no clue how to do any kind of skirt like I want.

Other than a waist-high, belle skirt, I could also go for a hip-high, ruffly skirt. . .

Is there a Gothic Lolita type thing for guys?

Don't listen to any of the other answers, they're full of crap and you'll get eaten alive by the other lolitas.

There is aristocrat and dandy style for boys or there is also visual kei.

A good place to get clothes for boys would be Fan+Friend. They're not exactly dirt-cheap but alternative clothing rarely is.

If all else fails, go to a second hand store, find a nice shirt, vest, pants and a tie or cravat. (Stay away from bow ties)

I would suggest staying away from the messed up hair + eyeliner unless he's going for a visual-kei look. (In which case it's more like goth mixed with punk)

I want to start a gothic short story, what are some things I should know?

Set a mood.  You can get down and dirty, like Shirley Jackson in We Have Always Lived in the Castle, who opens the novella with this paragraph:"My name is Mary Katherine Blackwood.  I am eighteen years old, and I live withmy sister Constance.  I have often thought that with any luck at all I could have been born a werewolf, because the two middle fingers on both my hands are the same length, but I have had to be content with what I had.  I dislike washing myself, and dogs, and noise.  I like my sister Constance, and Richard Plantagenent, and Amanita phalloides, the death-cup mushroom.  Everyone else in my family is dead."Or you can weave a web gradually, like Daphne du Maurier in the first line of her masterpiece Rebecca:"Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again . . ."Since it's going to be a short story, make sure that within the first page or so, your reader knows s/he's wandered into a very unsettling situation, with lurking undefined menace -- voices in other rooms, unseen.

What are some must-haves in a gothic-lolita wardrobe?

Start off with a blouse, a skirt, a petticoat, a hair accessory, a pair of knee-high or higher socks and a pair of shoes. Make sure they all match, of course. After that you can get another skirt or a jumperskirt and then you'll be able to make two different outfits while only paying for one and a half.

The main thing is just to make sure all of the items you buy at first match. And that you'll be able to buy more stuff that matches with the pieces you get later.

Fan Plus Friend is terrible about sending people clothing in the wrong size, and they don't accept returns when they mess up your order. Also, some of heir dresses are made with poor quality materials.

Try http://www.annahousefashion.com
Their prices are about the same as F+F for dresses and cheaper for other things, (they're in Hong Kong dollars) but their quality is much better. Both F+F and Anna House have expensive shipping, but with Anna House, the more stuff you buy the better deal they'll give you on shipping. So, if you want to buy a whole outfit shoes and all, they make the shipping very worth it.

http://www.inthestarlight.com has good quality, but Anna House's quality is a little better, and Anna House is cheaper. In the Starlight's shipping is much cheaper if you live in the US, though.

Those two websites are the cheapest for good clothing.

Where can I buy Gothic Lolita dresses that are original and not cosplay?

Well, if you REALLY want quality, there are the more expensive places:Moi-même-Moitié. The original website to sell Gothic Lolita fashion.Metamorphose. They sell a lot of Gothic.Juliette et Justine. Classic and Gothic.Angelic Pretty. They mostly sell Sweet and Classic Lolita but there are some Gothic OPs and JSKs you can find.Innocent World. Mostly Classic and Gothic.DevilInspired. Again, Classic and Gothic. There’s also the good ol’ Lolita starter brand:Bodyline. They sell Classic, Gothic, and Sweet. It’s cheaper and pretty basic, but good to get your Lolita wardrobe started!I’ve bought from most of these brands (except Angelic Pretty and Metamorphose) and from what I’ve gotten and what I’ve seen other people get from these brands, it’s great quality stuff! Well I should hope so… most of those brands cost $100 and up. Lolita is quite an investment.I don’t know if you just want to wear Lolita for one occasion (in that case, you might want to just go with Bodyline!) or if you want to start wearing it as a part of your day to day wardrobe, but assuming you want to actually become a Lolita in lifestyle, here’s a few videos you can watch. Some are Gothic Lolitas giving tips for getting started with the style and where to buy things. Others are some examples of Gothic Lolita coords for ideas.

How to start dressing casual Lolita style?

Just do it and be confident. I wear lolita to school pretty often, and I get made fun of sometimes of course, but it doesn't bother me, and I also get tons of compliments.

I don't suggest the first one, because it's empire waisted, and empire waisted lolita dresses make pretty much everyone look pregnant.
The second one's design is a little strange, but there's nothing really wrong with it. Kinda cute.
That skirt is a little wierd looking. It would be cute for punk I guess.
If you want that blouse, make sure you wouldn't feel uncomfortable with that collar. Personally, I can't stand anything up around my neck like that, so if you don't like how turtle necks feel, it would be best to avoid that blouse.

If you order from Fan Plus Friend, don't get anything custom sized. 75% of the time someone orders a custom sized item they royally screw it up. Skirts ten inches too short, coats too small, etc. I suggest you check out http://www.annahousefashion.com Their prices are in Hong Kong dollars, so it's way cheaper than it looks, and their stuff is a little better quality than Fan Plus Friend. Also, they have cute shoes. (The ones with the 1 inch heels are way cuter than in the pictures, and comfy too, I have a pair of the white ones)

It's definitely appropriate, because the fashion doesn't have anything to do with the novel other than that they share the same name. Just explain this to your family and friends, and when curious people ask about what you're wearing, don't bother mentioning the name.
