Radio frequency 93.3?

Billy Mays the tv pitchman's ad sells a speakerphone cellphone device that works on frequency 93.3 FM- also it seemed there was a now defunct radio company Jack FM that had stations on the same 93.3 fqz-
is 93.3 a sort of public domain fqz or something?
And another radio question-
on shortwave there are some stations I find that are just random numbers being spoken, sometimes I'll find one in Spanish... and it's not the "at the tone the time will be (whatever time it is)" station
what are these stations?

Is it legal to listen in on police radios in the U.K.?

Technically yes, it is illegal. However many people still do without getting caught. It is an offence under the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949 in the UK. It states that it is illegal to listen to licensed private services (such as: police and taxi radio transmissions). They use an encrypted system called Airwave anyway, to prevent this.References:Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949Police radios will be KILLED soon£1.2bn police radio replacementWireless Telegraphy Acts - Wikipedia

Is it legal to use my UK 2-way radios / walkie talkies in Germany?

I have a set of "Challenge activate DL500+" 2-way, 8 channel (each with 38 codes?) radios which I bought here in the UK from Argos a year or 2 ago. Being a we're all off to a German festival in a few weeks, and not taking our phones, I'd like to take these radios to stay in touch. Are they legal to use in Germany? Sadly the instruction doesn't mention the specific frequencies they use but I would like to think that being domestic devices they won't interfere with any sort of commercial or professional channels?

Is the police radio scanner app legal?

Yes it's legal, but the one thing is if it's being used in the commission of a crime, then you can get in trouble. Say you were breaking in to a closed store and had it with you to hear if someone had call ed the police. Yeah, trouble. In Ca. it can be in a car, but can not be turned on in a car.

Is it illegal to listen to police radios in Canada?

I just did some quick research on this (I live in the USA, not familiar with Canada's laws) this is what I was able to find, and I hope you find this useful! From what I was able to see, it is currently LEGAL to stream information from a police scanner in the country of Canada. However if you were to profit from streaming this information, it then becomes illegal (Example: Listening to the scanner, and being paid to warn people of incoming police). Also if the Law Enforcement Agency is using a "encrypted" communication and you cannot legally de-crypt it, if you illegally de-crypt that communication source it is also illegal to stream that information.Basically if you are able to get the frequency they are using in a legal manner then yes, it is legal to stream that information.

Is it legal to own a scanner radio in the Philippines?

Can a ham radio talk to a CB radio?

In a word, NO! Hams, (licensed Radio Amateurs) are NOT allowed to talk to anyone who is not a licensed Ham. The ONLY exception is in an emergency when human life and/or property are in danger. Then anyone can talk to anyone in any service. The big hang-up is that CB has certain frequencies which their radios can operate on, Hams have certain bands that their radios can operate on, and neither of these services can “get to” any law enforcement frequencies. EXCEPTION: The FCC has set up call signs for CBers to use to call in emergencies. The call is K (+ the 2-letter abbreviation for the states), + 0911. So for Arizona, the call is KAZ0911. States and counties CAN monitor Channel 9 for emergency calls, but many dont. For instance, Hams cannot talk to military personnel, however many Ham radios can be “opened up” to cover military and government frequencies. My HF radio was “opened” because I was in MARS, (Military Affiliate Radio Service) and from there I joined SHARES, (SHAred RESources), which is a low-profile Federal communication network using both MARS and Federal stations. Both of these services use Government frequencies, so the radio had to be able to operate on non-Ham frequencies. By the way, I had a different call sign for MARS & SHARES in addition to my Ham call. (I wonder how AFA4HY is doing?)
