Is This Writing Good For 13 Years Old

I am 13 years old and I love writing. What are some good tips and tricks to help me become a more interesting and engaging writer?

Write believable characters, which means studying people and everything about them: the way they talk, especially. Dialogue, the conversation, is the single most important thing you can learn as a writer. You MUST write good dialogue. A good writer can write an entire scene of nothing but dialogue and never have to describe the scene or the place or anything about where the scene takes place. It can all be done with the dialogue. Example:"Hey, Joe.""Hey, Fred! You're soaked to the skin!""Well, it's raining pretty hard out there. You're still in your jammies.""I goof off on Sundays. You should too, instead of working so hard. Want some coffee?""Yeah, thanks. It sure smells good. It's cold out there!"In five lines, I told you these things:1) The names of the two men.2) It's raining hard. (and cold outside)3) Joe is still in his pajamas.4) It's a Sunday.5) Coffee is brewing.6) Fred is a hard worker.7) Joe goofs off on Sundays.8) These two guys are friends and know each other pretty well.9) The scene is probably at Joe's house, else he wouldn't be in his jammies, drinking coffee on a Sunday.10) Joe thinks his friend Fred works too hard.Ten things! I told you ten things with only five short lines of dialogue and never did I have to say "It's raining." or: "Joe and Fred are friends." Or: "Joe likes to drink coffee and goof off on Sundays in his jammies."Dialogue. You can make magic with it. Now go and learn how to make magic, young writer.

How can I make money writing as a 13 year old?

BE VERY VERY CAREFULAnd never post “I am a 13 year old girl who needs something” because you are begging for every predator on the planet to offer to help.I have been writing a long time. there are few if any easy fixes or paths. How much do you read? How often do you read? Do you read the classics of literature or just junk pulp?If you are not reading, and a lot, you will never be any good as a writer.EVERYONE, well almost everyone you meet will have their hand out, offering to help while stealing your money. Writers get paid, they do not pay. Not for editors, not for anything. When someone says “hey just a little cash and you can be published”Find a rock, hit them hard in the genitals, walk awayOk, maybe not but you get my point. Some one posted about a website for links to get paid $50, good advice, go there first. You are never done as a writer, you are never good enough, it is a daily thing, every day. Don’t learn how to write, learn how to carve beautiful phrases and illuminate the pages with hints of what can be and what is.AVOID the predators and pervs and thieves out there, they are many.Watching Her Walk: Collected Poetry of Craig Murray: Craig M Murray: 9780987857040: Amazon.com: Books

Is this writing good for a 13 year old?

Is this writing average/below average/awful/good or whatever for a 13 year old? It sounds like i am just fishing for compliments lol but i'm not,, i want to know whether it's worth entering another of my pieces into this competition my school is having....give your opinion please and keep in mind my age when judging my crappy grammer lol!

“Jones, have you been feeding Darla pop tarts again?” My not-so-identical-twin Jake would not be happy if the answer was in the affirmative and judging by Darla’s crumb matted fur, it would be.
“Darla was crying and she asked for a pop tart. How could I refuse to grant a dogs dying wish?” No, my younger brother is not five years old; he is merely a class A idiot and thirteen years old (with a mental age of three). Scooping Darla into my arms, I threw my school bag into the living room and charged into the bedroom me and Jake shared. My Chemical Romance blared from the speakers that surrounded my brother’s bed and the brother himself was strumming chords on his electric guitar. Did I mention that not only is my not-so-identical-twin brother Jake a sporty freak like me but is also a rock version of Mozart? Lowering Darla onto the floor, she immediately bounded over to her owner and buried her squashed up pug face in his shoulder.
“Hey Jake. Jones was feeding Darla pop tarts again.” I tattled, nudging the stereo with my hip so the song paused mid-scream.
“Ah ****. I hate that Darla thinks Jones is just being nice when he force feeds her all kinds of crap.” In our family, it’s all about the dog.

Am i a good writer? Does this sound good? (p.s im 13 years old trying to become a writer!)?

I'm 17, and i've been writing since I was little. I used to write stories like this as well, and it took me a long time to realize what I was doing wrong.
I'm not talking about your grammar and spelling like everyone keeps referring to. You can fix that on your own. What you need to take another look at is your story itself, and the way you bring it about.

When you begin writing, you should have at least a vague idea of how the story is going to turn out. Also, you need to begin with something that will catch attention. I would never start out with an introduction. Never. Most of the time, you'll lose your reader right then and there. The way you wrote yours also makes your main character sound very immature. I know she is supposed to be 13, but the way you write as her makes her sound 8. (Also, refrain from using the word "stuck upey"). While I was reading, I got bored pretty early and it didn't get better. There didn't really seem to be any big underlying story in there.
A 13 year old girl Brittney who is not preppy and has a twin. Her neighbor is a cute boy named Danny. Her twin sister is a model who is coming home after being in Paris a long time. Danny and Brittney go to a friends house.
That's basically your first chapter stripped down. By the end of your first chapter, your reader should have a better idea of what is going on. If you decide to make your story one of those that starts out vague and reveals more as it goes, that's fine too. Just make sure you write it in a way that makes them want to keep reading. Spice up your plot.

One thing I personally would change that you don't really have to change is the point of view. My preference is to write from a third person pov. That way, youre not stuck in the mind of one character and you can branch off into anything you want. When you write in first person like you did here, we are confined to the thoughts of this 13 year old girl and what goes on around her that she perceives. Sometimes you may want to get out of that. At least, I do.

But whatever you do, don't give up. Whoever said you won't be a writer until you are 40 doesn't know what they are talking about. As long as you want to be a writer, you should keep on pursuing it. When people give you criticism, take it constructively, and let your writing grow. The more you work on it, the better you will get.

Good luck!

Should a 13 / 14 year old write a novel?

Just wanna ask this cause I'm just not sure, I've read a lot of thing/articles tht let me down a bit. Anyway I'll cut to the chase, I'm a 13 year old boy (turning 14 in 2 months) and want your opinions, my aim is it to be 200-450 pages long at least and might think about getting it published. Thx

Writing tips for a 13 year old author?

READ! Read, read, read, and read some more. Read good books and bad books. You can learn something from both. From the good ones you learn good structure, good ways to plot, and create characters. :) From the bad ones, you learn what /not/ to do. :)
And, WRITE! Write, write, write, and write some more. The only way to be really good at something is to do it ALL the time.

In my opinion, to be a good writer you should just write a lot and emulate good authors by reading their works. That's really the best way to learn. :)

Have fun!
