Is What My Supervisor Asked Of Me Illegal At My Work

I am a supervisor. Is it illegal to take a picture of a coworker sleeping on the job?

I am a supervisor and found one of my workers sleeping. Is it illegal to take a picture of him sleeping. Or does it depend on the state if it is illegal. I live in Massachusetts

What is something your boss has asked you to do that was illegal? Did you do it?

My ex-boss and the head of finance had integrity issues. The ex-boss led a glamourous life-style: antique collection, art collection, sports car, wealthy boyfriend who took him on vacations flying first class. He was thick as thieves with the head of finance. One day, the head of finance came to me with a proposal. Ex-boss had his eye on an expensive painting but was unwilling to pay the customs duties for importing it. The head of finance proposed to me that the company could buy the painting, pay the import tax, sell the painting at cost to ex-boss, and claim back the tax as a business-related tax deduction. I was approached because all purchases were under my purview, so they needed me to collaborate with them. I remember wondering how this head of finance could be such a lowlife. Needless to say, I declined to assist and I put my staff on alert in case they tried to sneak it through.

Can your employer legally ask you to reschedule a Doctor's Appointment?

not illegal in any way

Is my boss forcing me to work free of pay and is this illegal.?

my boss has requested that all of his empoyies do an internet training course. for many of his empoyies, including myself this is pointless as we have been there in excess of two years. back to the point, this training course is taking in excess of 5 hours and we are only being paid for an hour. if this task can not possibly be finished in 1 hour is he forcing us to work free of pay and is this illegal?

What would you do if your boss asks you to do something illegal?

I guess you're not talking about murder, but about orders with debatable lawfulness.First, I would say to my boss that I suspect that her orders are illegal. Legal ignorance is quite widespread, and bosses don't know everything. I'd advice her to look for legal expertise regarding what she wants to do. If she wasn't aware of the illegality of her orders, she may be even grateful of your advice. If she doesn't want to seek legal advice to check the lawfulness of her orders and insists for me complying, I would take personal legal advice, to make sure that her orders are actually illegal. Then, except if my lawyer advices me against this, I would send her a written message recapitulating exactly what she asked me to do, and explaining that I refuse to do it because it's illegal according to my legal advisor. I'd put the company's HR in copy if necessary. When you are before a judge, "I was just following orders" isn't an argument to justify breaking the law. Your first responsibility is to yourself, not to your boss. Say no and take steps to protect yourself legally.

Is getting fired on your day off illegal?

They asked me to come to work today on Christmas eve because two people couldnt make it. So that left only one person to close to night which was the new assistant manager. I got there for 1pm the mall closed at 6pm It was packed so one of the associates came back and helped us out but she let her go at 6 and had me cleaning up the entire store and all she did was fold one jean wall. 9pm rolled around and everything is done and she putting out stuff for Saturday. Told her my ride was outside she got an attitude and said some really rude things. So i was tired and fed up because I had been working hard all day while she only did paper work. I clocked out and told her I was leaving and she told me not to come back. So how can she fire me on a day off. I wasn't even on the schedule.
