Is Writting With Pen On Your Skin Bad Is So What Else Can I Do

Is pen ink bad for your skin?

It's not too harmful, however, if you draw all over your body, the ink will soak into your bloodstream and may cause possible poisoning. So try to stay away from drawing crap on your skin...especially with permanent marker.

Why is it so bad to write on your skin with pen?

It really isn't all that bad to write on your skin. Potentially you could get poisoning from the chemicals and dyes in the ink but you would have to like... bath in the ink... for hours a day... so you should be good.

Is it bad to write on your skin with pen/marker?

Writing on your skin probably won't kill you, but it's not exactly healthy, either. While most writing inks are nontoxic, they do contain chemicals that can be poisonous if ingested in large amounts. According to Health Central, you generally have to swallow at least an ounce (that's several pens' worth) of writing ink to induce poisoning.
You'll find an entertaining discussion about ink poisoning on the blog This End Down. Though most of the contributions come from middle schoolers who enjoy drawing on themselves while bored in class, we found some helpful resources, such as the Health Central . One curious reader wrote the Sharpie company, and received this reply:

Sharpie Markers are not to be used on skin. Only markers that specify they are safe for use on skin are recommended to be used on skin. Sanford does not manufacture markers for skin. We advise you to consult your physician for information related to the health effects of writing on your skin with permanent markers.
The blog Dandruff also weighs in on the issue, recommending that if you must write on yourself, do it with water-based ink. You might also want to seek out skin safe markers .

Is it bad writing on your hand/arm with a pen?

Writing on your arm doesn't do anything bad to you. There could be a problem if you write on yourself and there is a break in the skin where you write. If the ink gets into a cut or scratch you could get ink poisoning or you could give yourself a tattoo without meaning to. Once the ink gets under your skin it won't come off...it's permanent. Either way you'd probably be better off using scratch paper to do your doodling, unless of course you like looking like you stole the arm off a smurf.

What to use to write on skin?

Tori-- The project is to see how people react... who will want to come and talk, who will just stare, who will run away quickly? I will be wearing this all at a town festival (and on my birthday!) so a LOT of people will see me! If it goes well, several people I know are going to team up and spread the word to get a single day where as many people as possible do this, all across the US and to some extent in different countries, and see what happens then...

Is it bad to write on your hand with a pen? Will it affect the skin?

I am no expert to answer this. But as kids being in school with a pen in hand I always had a habbit of writing all over my hands and I can't recall any moment when my teachers or my parents pointing out it's bad for the skin. I recollect being told it's a bad habbit though, but never bad for the skin. I am sure whoever manufactures pens/ink are well aware of the fact that children tend to write on their hands & definitely formulate the ink with no harmful substances. However, I know any habbit in excess is always bad for health.

Does writing on your hand with a pen cause skin cancer?

Writing on our skin is something that many of us do on a casual basis – we use it to jot down notes and reminders to make sure we make appointments or call our landlords, and we use it to make attractive doodles when we're absent minded. This seems harmless enough, but at the back of many of our minds is the question: does it damage our health?Well fortunately the majority of highly toxic chemicals used in pens and pencils (such as lead in pencils) has been removed for precisely this reason and to prevent children from inadvertently poisoning themselves. Thus writing on yourself occasionally is unlikely to cause any major damage. However at the same time the skin is highly absorbent and that means that anything you do write with is still potentially going to enter the blood stream at least a little. This of course can be bad for your brain and organs, and repeated use could increase you chances of developing cancer as your cells come under fire from the toxins. Many things could give you cancer however, so it is almost impossible to avoid and the amount of ink you'd need to expose yourself to to be dangerous would be very large. This means there is no real reason to be concerned about writing on your skin, but you should still try to keep it to a minimum. To write on your skin without worrying about the side effects then a water based felt pen would be the safest one to use, while for larger works of art you should always go with face paints (apart from anything else these will show up better and will scratch your skin less at the same time).-www.naaniskitchen.com

Is drawing on your skin bad?

pencils are not made of lead (a common misconception, despite the name of lead); its actually graphite. Those who say you can get lead poisoning are wrong. However that doesnt mean that the graphite is safe; it may be harmful, idk.
