Is celebrating birthdays haram (forbidden) in Islam?

Gratitude and Dua for you question, SaadI read the answers given to your questionHere is my take on this issue. No one celebrated birthdays in days of revelation of Quran and for a while thereafter. This trend started in the western world and found its way into our culture just like cakes and jeans and pony tails and soda and burgers and disco and dating and pampers and sneakersIt is a ritual or set of rituals including lighting candles, cutting a cake, clapping and singing with occasional dancing, consuming high calorie drinks and foods and giving gifts that involves anywhere from two people to two thousand people with maximum expenditure known to have been made for a single birthday of millions of dollars for one hour of entertainment at a barIslamic shariah or Quran or Hadith does not say anything to the effect that "Birthday is haraam"Having said that, I will add a list of things from Quran and hadith that tell us how we are supposed to conduct our affairs as believers. These may be reasons behind labeling this ritual as "Haram"Chapter 2: Verse 3: (This Quran) is guidance for the Pious ones: The Pious ones are the ones who avoid all actions that are disliked by their creator. Be it excessive noise, show off, gluttony, extravagance, indecent speech or actions and so onChapter 28: Verse 79 and 80: Two groups of people are compared. One is impressed with worldly wealth of a King and the other is patient and believes in the hereafter. This group is the favored oneChapter 23: Verse 3: (These are the true believers) And they avoid the pointless actions (actions with no positive outcomes)Hadith says that if one copies a (non Muslim) people, he/she will become one of themSo! Nothing against expression of one's love and affection for another within limits but do study Quran and you will understand the underside better

Ramadan: Submitters more likely to have an answer?

Muhammad K:

Stop acting like a baby and shut up unless you have an answer! And I would like to thank the submitters for reporting my question as well, good thing I saved a copy so I can post it ALL OVER AGAIN. What a great way to avoid my question since you don't have answers! So buzz off unless you have an answer to MY question and YOU are the one VEERING off, so quit it and answer mine before I answer yours! I answer one stupid question for you and you run away by asking another, try answering one for ONCE in your life! Go ahead and be cowards by reporting this too! Do look forward to seeing the same questions AGAIN!!!

What is more appropriate as a Ramadan greeting? Ramadan Mubarak or Ramadan Kareem?

What is more appropriate as a Ramadan greeting? Ramadan Mubarak or Ramadan Kareem? Thanks for A2A,Ramadan Kareem is not a greeting as far as I believe. Its just a statement like, “Ramadan Kareem has arrived” which means the blessed month of Ramadan has arrived.Kareem means “generous” and so Ramadan Kareem means, “Generous Ramadan”, which is not a greeting actually. Its an additional thing we add with “Ramadan” to show its sacredness.“Ramadan Mubarak” is more appropriate because Mubarak means “blessed”“Mubarak” is something we add after a happy occasion such as “Eid Mubarak”.Also here in Pakistan when someone achieve some target we say “Mubarak” to him,“Gadi laina par Mubarak ho” which means “Mubarak for buying a car”“Betay kay test main pass honay par Mubarak ho” which means “Mubarak for your son passing the test.”I have seen people use both but this is what I think.

Muslim Quorans: Who are your favorite Islamic speakers and scholars?

I am very much into watching video lectures of Islamic scholars and it helped me alot to learn Islam better. My list isn't going to be long but these scholars are the best ones out there and they talk about real Islam, they don't talk about hate and don't promote sectarianism.Mufti Ismail Menk: He is a great scholar from Zimbabwe and is my most favourite English speaking scholar.Maulana Tariq Jameel: I don't have enough words to describe his personality. He is a Pakistani scholar and his father disowned him when he said he want to become a scholar. He always talks about peace and unity among Muslims.Tears flow out of eyes just by listening to him.If you're interested his story, here you goNouman Ali Khan: Another Pakistani-American english speaking scholar and he never disappoints me.He is a top class scholar and always speaks the truth no matter how harsh it is.That's the reason I like him.Belal Asaad: He is another English speaking scholar and I came to know about him on the most famous Islamic YouTube channel MercifulServant and almost all videos on this channel are his lectures. He has got great knowledge about Islam and is second to none.Ahmed deedat: Although he is not alive but his treasure of lectures will remain with us forever. This guy studied Islam himself and became one of the greatest Islamic scholars of current era.Dr Israr Ahmed: He was also a great scholar of Islam and one of my favourites, although I may disagree with some of his points but overall he was a great scholar and his videos will remain with us forever. My favourite Islamic YouTube channels are:MercifulServantTheProphetsPathiLovUAllah™Rational Believer (answers tricky questions)
