Italians Are Best Known For What

What is lazio, Italy best known for?

First of all in Lazio there is the city of Rome, that is the capital of Italy from 1870, 8 years after its unification (It was chosen because of its central position: it lies almost at the center of Italy).

Lazio is best known for its archaeological sites, its culture, its fascinating nature and environment, for cooking style and oeno-gastronomic itineraries.

1) HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES
The ancient history of Latium is closely linked to that of Rome. Before the foundation of the city the area was inhabited by a varied population, most important among them: Etruscans and Latins (seventh to sixth centuries B.C.).
In the local centers Tarquinia, Cerveteri and many others, there are countless testimonies of ancient and mysterious Etruscan: necropolises and museums.

In Lazio obviously there are many ancient roman archaeological sites.
It is enough to think of the city of Rome, with its coliseum, imperial forum and trevi fountain.
Moreover, in the countryside, it’s very important the splendid and grandiose Villa Adriana in Tivoli.

Rome is also the capital of the Christian world, the seat of the Papacy.
The same grandiose style of the Roman religion you can find in Rome (The Vatican) seems to be projected and duplicated outside Rome: in the abbeys of Montecassino, Casamari, and Fossanova and in the monasteries of Subiaco, places dear to Saint Benedict of Norcia.

2) NATURE
Lazio offers a variety of landscapes including lakes, mountains and sea… The territory of Lazio has a significant environmental heritage, nature and landscape, often related to the elements and man-made heritage. The Region has a complex and extensive system of national parks and state nature reserves, marine protected areas, wetlands of international importance, regional parks and natural reserves, natural monuments and Oasis.
Between nature reserves, castles, abbeys and ancient traditions, there are many medieval villages, often located on rocky cliffs with breathtaking views.

3) OENO-GASTRONOMIC ITINERARIES
Latium cousin is very famous, particularly for meat from shepherds and farmers, olive oil and wine.
White wines dominate Latium's production, whose 23 DOCs are led by the versatile Frascati and Marino from the famous zone of Castelli Romani and the mythical wine Est! Est!! Est!!!

What is Italy known for?

Art, culture, food, great fun people (and unfortunately we are also known for some bizzarre government issues)
Great place to visit (and, depending on where you are, to live in) with beautiful art, beautiful nature and beautiful people.

What is Liguria, Italy known for?

The most well known part of Liguria is probably the Cinque Terre, an ensemble of five tiny villages on the coast close to La Spezia (on the eastern tip of Liguria). Together with Portovenere (also very beautiful) and the Islands of Palmaria, Tino e Tinetto they are a Unesco World Heritage Site.Another tiny village very well known is Portofino, closer to Genoa.Genoa itself, the main town of Liguria, is mostly known for its port, one of the busiest ports in the Mediterranean. From a touristic point of view it lacks an “obvious” attraction such as the leaning tower of Pisa or the Colosseum in Rome, but it still is very well worth a visit. Le strade nuove e i Palazzi dei Rolli, in Genoa, are also a Unesco World Heritage Site.On the west coast, mount Beigua is a Unesco Global Geopark (not very well known, actually, but very beautiful). The most well known town on the west coast is probably Sanremo, close to the border with France and home of the Italian Music Festival.Being part of Italy, the single most known thing coming from Liguria has to be food related: that would be Pesto alla genovese, a green sauce based on basil leaves. Focaccia is also very popular, both in its plain form or with cheese (this is called Focaccia di Recco).

Why do blks and italians have short tempers/bad attitudes?

What? Another American stereotype... I've never heard this one! Well, I'm Italian and I don't get angry fast... At all. Also, I don't know what kind of "Italians" do you know in US but I find people here in Italy to be pretty quiet, Italians are famous for being 'relaxed'...They probably use to speak loudly but it doesn't mean they're "angry"...

Is the city of Bologna, Italy known for sex?

It’s a very, very old stereotype from the ‘50s. Emilia is traditionally wealthier and more “progressive” than the average Italian region, and this was particularly visible after WWII: because communist and socialist militants had been at the forefront of the fight against Nazi-Fascist occupation, which had been particularly harsh in the area, they were elected to run local government pretty much everywhere, with overwhelming majorities then maintained for decades. One of their main platforms was female equality, and this basically allowed women a new degree of freedom in clothing and behaviour. With that came an attitude to sex that was more relaxed than elsewhere. Bologna, as the bigger city in the region, became to symbolize it, also because the student population in the ’60s and ’70s was pushing for “free love” and all that… As it often happens, tales got bigger and bigger as they travelled. An old saying goes “Bologna is famous for her three Ts: towers, tits and tortellini”. Note how the stereotype mentioned women, not men; male virility is definitely more renowned elsewhere (Romagna or further South). But that’s all from a time long past, the country as a whole caught up and moved on. Depending on what you’re looking for, there are much more lascivious cities elsewhere in Italy.

What is the best food city in Italy?

Hello Nag!This is one of the toughest questions one’s ever asked me!It’s impossible to me to give you a straight answer. As Italians we are really proud of our local culinary traditions. One from Rome will tell you it’s Rome, others will tell you that Tuscany has the best food in Italy and so on… but all judgements will be biased by our proud! The most honest answer maybe is this one: the Tuscan region, especially the area called Orcia Valley, is a real paradise for foodies and wine amateurs. The area is scattered with middle age little towns, such as Castellina and Pienza, Montalcino etc… where the food is great almost everywhere!Rome’s great as well! I mean we have all kinds of specialties from fried delicacies, to pasta recipes, vegetables from the countryside… amazing! Then there’s Apulia region, in southern Italy! The best food I ever had from meat to fish and pasta dishes! This question has make me hungry! Let me know your thoughts !Cheers,Nicole
