June 13 What The Hellya Reading Jennifer Howard

Do you think the Captain Marvel movie will be good? Is her story worth it?

Depends if they are taking the recent comic book route with her.If they are taking the recent comic book route then it will no doubt be a hit with critics, but it will fail hard in box office and general audience reviews. Current Captain Marvel has been extremely forced feminism and diversity character, I don’t think she even has any fans left at this point. She was the main character in Civil War II and her role in it made absolutely no sense.tl;dr - She is horribly written diversity character that almost nobody likes. Her best issue last month was #134 in top comic book sales. I don’t remember her ever getting out of #100.Even though her own comic books are not selling, Marvel is desperately trying to shove her as a main character in so many other comic books to get some audience for the movie. They have been doing it for good 2–4 years now.Last time I read about her was Ultimates 2 and I didn’t like her.Am I gonna go watch her movie? Hell no.Unless they completely change the character for the movie, it’s destined to fail. Why people dislike Carol Danvers? She likes to act like a leader because she comes from military background but her decision making is below decent. In the span of 2 issues, she got Rhodes and Hulk killed starting a new Civil War against Tony Stark. An Inhuman had a vision that Thanos was coming for the Cosmic Cube and Danvers set out to stop him with a team. While they did beat him, Thanos managed to kill Rhodes and put She-Hulk into coma because the plan sucked. The same Inhuman saw a vision of Hulk going into a rampage so Carol Danvers surrounded Bruce Banner’s lab with pretty much every Marvel hero out there. Everyone blaming Banner while yelling at him to surrender made Banner get angry, before Banner could Hulk out, Hawkeye took a shot at his head. Nobody knew if he was going to Hulk out or not. Danvers later justified the killing, she didn’t like it, it wasn’t her plan, but she justified it because she thought Banner was going to Hulk out.Carol let a woman be arrested because an Inhuman saw a possible future where she might be a terrorist and carry a bomb in her briefcase. Blue Marvel told soldiers to treat the woman with respect because she hasn’t done anything, Carol told Blue Marvel not interfere. She refused to work with Galactus to save the Universe.

Was making Captain Marvel a woman a good idea?

What an odd question. I don’t want to cry sexism but, dude, what the hell? Can you explain what you mean by that? And aren’t there enough male characters in the MCU?Anyway, no one is making anyone anything. Carol Danvers is a well-established character out of the comics, starting out as Ms. Marvel back in 1977 and has had many adventures and identities, and suffered strange misfortunes since then (including having once had her powers stolen by Rogue before she was an X-Man); see more at the link.Below are the identities Danvers has assumed throughout her career. From left to right: Ms. Marvel, Warbird, Binary, Captain Marvel; note: Danvers wore the second costume as both Ms. Marvel and Warbird, who follows Binary chronologically. In the 80’s, before Carol Danvers assumed the name Captain Marvel, a woman named Monica Rambeau did.Rambeau will appear in Captain Marvel, played by Lashana Lynch.Trivial note: Both Lynch and Hannah John-Kamen (who plays the Ghost in Ant-Man and the Wasp) are both alumni of the British crime series Death in Paradise, though both, of course, only appeared as guest performers in different episodes (Clarke Peters (of The Wire) also appeared in an episode of DP and appeared in Jessica Jones season 1).
