Just Wanted To Know If The Karma Hotspot

Could a 4G Hotspot replace a Internet bill?

There are disadvantages using your cell phone as a hotspot. First of all there is no unlimited internet data plan so you are restricted and you have to watch how many gigabytes or megabytes you are using. As you already know, cell phones companies throttle your speed so that it is slower if you use too much data internet. Also another concern is the signal if your cell phone does not not have a signal in your location then of course there is no data internet.

So unless you will you to browse internet websites, facebook, twitter etc but not watching videos or streaming music then you are okay. Watching videos or streaming listening to music will definitely use your data internet quickly.

Do smart phones with wifi get free internet in a wifi hotspot ?

If the phone doesn't require a SIM card to work then you'll be fine. It's free because you're not using phone network.

WIFI HotSpot question?

if the place you are going has internet but no wifi than you can bring your own Wireless router with you and hook it to their internet but you need to have access to the ethernet cable that comes out of their modem

So far, it sucks. I am mourning the loss of my Clear box where I could stream endless movies from Netflix for an entire weekend if I wanted through my ps3.  Those days are gone for good apparently. There seems to be no way to connect to ps3 to the KarmaGo.Currently, I would just like to open a simple Web page, but alas, it takes minutes to access a single page at full strength.I have, several days ago, tried to contact their support. They have no phone support, no live support and I have not heard back from the email I sent 2 days ago asking for help. The charge on the battery is supposed to last 3 hours, but I can't get it past 1 hr. and the tethering cord is so short that you cannot use a laptop AS a laptop without causing major issues. I feel like I want to return this electronic hockey puck and just sit in the dark and sob. I'm already just sitting and sobbing now waiting for my page to load... Rating? D-

There seems to be a misunderstanding of how karma works in religions like Hinduism and Buddhism. Karma is not something inflicted upon shitty people by an outside force. It is something that one does to one self. The universe itself is ultimately transient and ever changing. Live or die, kill or save, steal or give. The universe doesn't care and moves on either way. But, each of us is caught in our own circumstances and existence. Behave poorly and you will inevitably create poor circumstances for yourself either in this life or the next. Behave in a manner tending towards enlightenment and you will tend to create better circumstances for yourself either in this life or the next. This does not mean that the universe will drop a piano on your head if you are mean or a billion dollars in your lap if you are good. Rather, it means that through your actions in the world, you create your own circumstances.

Well, for me it makes sense when I’m away from home and I know my mobile hotspot connection will be more reliable than WiFi. For example, if a WiFi hotspot has lots of other users connected to it, if it has weak signal, or if it’s simply an untrusted connection.I also use my mobile hotspot when I don’t want to connect to my ISP’s “free” WiFi hotspots, which I’ve found to be incredibly spotty and useless most of the time. What do I mean by that? Years ago, Comcast began offering “free” Xfinity WiFi hotspots to subscribers of its internet home service. On the surface it sounded good — a nice perk simply for being a customer. So I signed up. But I quickly came to regret it when my phone began to want to connect to every single Xfinity hotspot it came within range of. And where I live, there are hundreds of them.See, unbeknownst to me, Comcast added a profile containing signing certificates to my phone’s configuration in order to use their hotspots. The profile eliminates the need to log in to your Comcast account every time you want to use their hotspots, but it also means your phone will connect to the hotspots all the time whether you want to or not. This is fine if that’s what you want, but I prefer to make that decision myself. My battery and privacy thank me for it.Further, since these Xfinity hotspots rarely ever work for anything useful, I suspect Comcast is simply using the connection logs to track you. Every time your phone attempts to connect to a hotspot, Comcast knows your location and time of day. This suspicion has forced me to use my phone in a different way. I now keep WiFi turned off most of the time until I’m home or at work, and only enable it when I absolutely want to.Call me paranoid but why would I trust a giant corporation like Comcast with anything remotely important and private?

How can I make my Windows 7 a Wireless hotspot?

There is no way to turn on wifi without changing your routers wifi settings to "on." I don't see why you would want to avoid that... its very simple.

Depending on your service plan with Verizon (or any other carrier) you may or may not be able to get lower price per gigabyte. On the other hand Karma offers other flexibilities / services that differentiate the service:buying larger quantities of data with Karma gives you a lower per Gb priceprepaid blocks of traffic you purchase from Karma do not expire - major difference when comparing to traditional carriersthe combo 1 + 2 is so important that it deserves its own spot in this listdevice owner earns traffic/data when other people use the hotspotmodern/well designed smart phone app (subjectively compared to att/vzw/sprint/tmo) shows up-to-date stats on traffic used and earned, people connected to the device etc.management, support and maintenance of the hardware device - presumably delivering latest security patches, firmware etc.

I don't know much about FreedomPop but I can tell you about Karma. I picked up a Karma Hotpost in order to stop paying for the data plan on my iPad. I was paying AT&T $30 a month for 3GB of data. I rarely would use that much data and would end up losing it at the end of the month. So, at $79 for a device, 1GB of data that never expires, and more functionality, the price was just right. The device is a little bigger than a Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookie -- pretty small. I haven't had any problems connecting any of my devices or connecting multiple devices at the same time. I use it primarily in Palo Alto and on the train between Palo Alto and San Francisco. My favorite feature of the Karma Hotspot is earning data by sharing data. My friends or strangers can connect to my Karma Hotspot and get 100MB for free. Every time someone connects to my hotspot, I too will earn 100MB of data. If you have Karma account and connect to a friend's hotspot they will earn 25MB of data and you'll get 25MB of data added to your account too. I'm not sure how much data you'll be using but I've had my hotspot for over a month and I have yet to buy any additional data. I use it to connect my Kindle, iPad and computer. It's easily met all my needs -- data and price. I highly recommend the Karma Hotspot to anyone.
