Looking for PS2 game with Knights and Dragons?

Hi there
My son is looking for strategic games for his PS2 and is particularly interested in the knights fighting dragons stuff. I won't let him have anything MA (too young for that) but a bit of realism isn't bad (eg, it doesn't have to be "cutesie" stuff). Anything up to M is okay.

He isn't interested in LOTR.

Any suggestions? Help would be appreciated! We're in Australia.

Thanks!

In what time period was it when there were knights slaying dragons and saving princeses and stuff like that?

What Mine K said is accurate, "6th - 14th centuries". I believe it was called "The Dark Ages"

How do you make/get monks vestments on knights and dragons?

You have to reread the diagramatical explanation.
It takes you through it one step at a time.
It's a big problem for front rowers but the wingers seem to do it with ease.
I'm a second rower so it really urks me that they do it like sooooooooooo easy.

In RPGs dating back to Dungeons & Dragons, did the knights/warriors, mages/clerics, and thieves/rangers descend from the archetypal hero, mentor, and trickster, respectively?

There may have been some subconcious influence, but I don’t think Gygax and Arneson set out to delibarately emulate those archetypes.Dungeons and Dragons started out as a wargame (technically, a supplement to a wargame). Fighters were obviously based on infantry (and archers). Knights were the cavalry.Mages were a form of self-mobile artillery (with some limited abilities to affect the battlefield, for example, darkness or rock to mud).Clerics were sort of “in between” mages and warriors: they had some limited spellcasting, but could wear heavy armor and fight more effectively than the mage.Rangers and theives came later. Rangers were pretty obviously modelled on Aragorn from Lord of the Rings.Unlike some other posters here, I don’t think Bilbo was a main inspiration for the thief class. While he put in elements from Tolkien’s work because they were popular, Gary Gygax never much liked Tolkein. No, the main inspiration for thieves was the Grey Mouser from Fritz Lieber’s Nehwon stories, along with other larcenous characters from (for example) Jack Vance.Dungeons and Dragons was (and is) a pretty eclectic mixture of all sorts of fantasy (and some sci-fi and horror) elements, with little to no rhyme or reason, especially in the early days. The authors simply didn’t think things through that far, because they had NO IDEA what kind of phenomenon it would become. Or how much we would all love it, 40+ years later.

How do you beat the dragon on astro knights island in poptropica?

Click the handle, then the dragon will freeze for a few seconds. While he is still frozen, shoot an arrow in his mouth. But be careful! He jumos and shakes the whole cave after you shoot! You must shoot him 3 times.

Where did this idea of a Knight fighting a dragon originate? A Knight doesn't have the weapons or the armor to fight a dragon. Steel protects from arrows, not fire.

I think your premise of a knight not being equiped to handle a dragon to be askew. Many dragons of lore are roughly Elephant sized. Some draconians are capable of flight, such as wyverns and dragons. While others are confined to land, such as drakes and wurms(not to be confused with wyrms). For all of these, a large (and long) Lance would be quite effective on horseback or in a staked position, which is to say, bracing the pommel against the ground or a wall and letting the dragons mass and inertia impale itself.Fire is great and all, but it dissipates rapidly (unless the story teller equates it to greek fire, where it is nore like napalm as sticks around.) A dragon is ussually depicted as espousing a red flame. This is important, as fire requires so much oxygen to burn, the red flame tells us:The Dragon is not contributing an oxidizer(or very little of it) to its breath weapon. This means its fire is not more than 600 degrees.A steel tower shield which has a thick wool backer and leather wrapped handles would leave the user well protected.A knight in plate armor, who would almost assuridly have on a padded wool and leather gambeson and coif along with wool britches could withstand the flame unaided for 30 seconds or more. Simmilar to the effect a cloth potholder has to grab a pan out of the oven. Also steel sheds heat pretty quickly.Even the areas close to the breath would be survivable.Humans are hardy and can withstand up to 10 minutes at 300 degrees.Steel melts at over 2000 degrees aswell, so his armor isnt going anywhere. As a final note, Dragons are fictitious creatures. Therefor they are just as durable, or killable as the author says they are.
