Kovalam To Marthandam Government Bus Service Availability

What are the travelling options from Trivandrum to Kanyakumari (except Indian Railways)?

road transport is very well developed…. the stretch from Kanniyakumari to Trivandrum is both adjacent to the National Highway and is also a very good inter-State highway. There are lots of buses both SRTC as well as private ones between Trivandrum and Kanniyakumari (primarily Nagercoil), plus a host of private operators run taxis, vans etc. The distance between Nagercoil (the district HQ of Kanniyakumari District) is a mere 71 kms. by both rail and road and there are plenty of options. as described above. Plus of course, I would add that travelling between CAPE-NCJ and Trivandrum by train is the best option as train travels through hills and tunnels and gives a fantastic view of the natural environs and favourable weather, though wet conditions prevalent in the extreme South of India i.e. the borders of Kanniyakumari in TN and Kerala.

How should I plan my bike trip from Chennai to Kerala?

Chennai to Kerala is a long route so the first thing you must do is to service your bike and put a full tank petrol. Get all the accessories you need for biking like a Good helmet, hand gloves, good shoes, jeans and whatever. You must start before the dawn breaks. The best route is Chennai-Bangalore highway and taking appropriate diversions depending to your destination. If you are traveling to South or Central Kerala take a diversion from Coimbatore . If you are heading to North Kerala then go to Bangalore and then take the Bangalore-Mysore-Madikeri route to reach Kasargod or take Bangalore-Hunsur-Virajpet route to reach Kannur or take the Bangalore-Wayanad route to reach Calicut or Malappuram. Since your destination is not specified it is difficult to specify the correct route map. All these routes are scenic, you can either drive at a stretch or take a day's break to stretch your strained muscles. All the specified routes were quite good before 4-5 months not sure how much the monsoon has played spoil sport. Note: one note of caution: Expect a lot of heavy vehicles on the highways in the dark. If possible stick reflectors on your bike and wear a night glass. Be alert.
