Landing A Kickflip On A Skateboard Help

How can I land a kickflip on a skateboard?

I learned to land kickflips by practicing them standing still on grass first. That way I didn’t have to worry about the board shooting out from under me if I got the landing wrong. At first I couldn’t get my feet back onto the board after flipping it. I’d spread my legs and not bring them back in in time. Essentially I was pussying out.I learned to combat this by doing what’s called a ‘body varial’ or ‘sex change’ (turning my body frontside by 180 degrees in the air after flipping the board; the board would stay facing the same direction while flipping under me, but I would turn and land in the opposite stance. So I’d start the trick in my normal regular stance but land it goofy).Doing the body varial distracted me from seeing/worrying about getting my feet back on the board and I found I landed it automatically first or second try.Once I got used to kickflip body varials on grass, I took them to the street. Once I got used to these I had the confidence in landing to learn them without the body varial.TIP 1: Some people find it easier to learn shove-it body varials before attempting kickflip body varials.TIP 2: Some people find it easier to learn kick flips at the top of a flat bank so they’re coming to a halt and neither moving forward nor backwards at the time of the trick, they land it essentially ‘standing still’ then roll off to fakie.

What is the secret to landing a kickflip on a skateboard??!?

well thats a very common problem most people have. its usually caused by one (or more) of 3 things

1. ur flicking down, maybe just a little but if u do at all it will be very difficult to get ur foot on.

2. ur flicking with ur leg, that would also cause ur slow flip and be impossible to get ur foot on again. the flip is done by a quick flick of ur ankle as ur toe begins to reach the concave of the nose. this gives a much easier, fast flip where ur leg never really leaves the board much, just ur foot for a second

3. ur turning ur shoulders or jumping back a bit. and that'll cause ur foot to land anywhere but on top of the board. may also give u a weird inconsistent flip.

hope this helps, kickflips take lots of commitment and practice to get them consistent but itll be worth it.

Why am I landing Parallel with my skatebord when i kickflip?

when I try to kickflip i flick the board perfectly but my body twists about 90 degrees so when its all said and done i am landing parallel with my board as well as on the tail of the board. Please help and Thank You.

How to kickflip i keep landing one foot?

Your problem and my old problem are the same! I was always scarred to land on the board. I was afraid it was going to slip out from under me and I would fall if I landed both feet. So one day, I was goofing around in my house skating on my carpet. I learned pop shove its this way. Then I tried to kick flip and I did it. So practice in your house or on your rug. Maybe even in the grass. And when you do it, put your front foot beside the bolts at a 45 degree angle. When you pop, dont push forward out backward because this will cause the board to rotate and stay above the board. Do not lean back when you do this. It is all about aggression some times Then, flick your front foot out off the side of the nose(regular=left side and goofy=right side).Watch the board flip and stomp your feet down RIGHT when you see the black grip tape. Also, you cant try holding on to something like a pole (really helps) or even landing on the board upside down.

If you dont really under stand the foot position I told you...

Skateboarding question, what was the easiest way for you to land a kickflip?

Try to land primo and when you land, force your body into a stressed and painful twisted shape. Lol jk. Seriously though, always try to land on the bolts of course. For me, when I skated, I always tended to slam the board down to land. Try to kinda seize the opportunity when the board is flat. If you mean how to form it, you can really do it any way you can. I experimented and found that if I try to just push straight down (with my foot by the edge, duh) it would slide up by itself and form fine. You can also try going straight up of diagonal. Kinda hard to explain in text. Just keep trying and you'll get it. If you can ollie, you can kickflip.

I need help with my kickflip?

Trying to learn how to kickflip after only two weeks is a really big deal; sometimes it can takes weeks or months to learn just how to ollie!

If you're getting the flip and your backfoot on the back bolts consistently; good job! All you need to do is get the front foot on. If you are having trouble doing that there may be several problems.
-you may be rocket flipping (flipping straight up instead of leveling out-making it almost impossible to land)
-not committing (being too scared to land it)
-flicking your front foot too hard (may distance your foot too far away from the board)

Solutions
-For a rocket flip, put your front foot closer to the bolts before you flick and don't flick as hard.
-For not committing, try practicing in the grass or a safer area than concrete.
-Try experimenting with how much force to flick so you don't distance yourself from your board too much!
