Can capitalism and socialism be mutually beneficial?

First, all capitalistic societies depend upon socialistic ehjntities to survive. If you think about it most corporations are socialistic in nature and their management structures look very much like a socialistic government. So the answer to your easy question is "YES" - capitalism and socialism can be mutually beneficial and I think they need each other to survive.

Your second question is far more problematic. National healthcare has many issues - one is that people see healthcare as an entitlement and believe they are entitled to the finest healthcare available for any little ailment they have. This mindset would cause a national system to collapse under its own weight. Relative to this is the issue of cost. The diagnostic tools and processes are so expensive that I doubt a national plan could ever expand to the point where it would be self-funding or creat mkore economic benefits than it drains.

Keep something in mind - the countries that have national healthcare also have taxes in the 50% - 60% range to cover it. As Americans we have to decide if we want half of what we earn to go into a collective pot to cover the cost of people who live dangerously by choice (smoking, drugs, unprotected sex, etc) and then expect us to cover the cost.

Is America changing into a third world country?

Kind of. A lot of other countries are nowhere near as rich as we are and have far more benefits. People seem very afraid of what they call "socialism" but in socialism, the government has much more obligation to give the citizens something out of the money they pay in taxes. Right now the government has very few means of reciprocating money in any tangible way to the citizens and is pretty much free to blow it on whatever the hell they feel like after they've done the absolute minimum. Our healthcare system is crap, our educational funding is crap, and we've blown an inhumane amount of money on a retrospectively pointless 10 year long war which we're still technically in.

I honestly wish more of the occupy wall street protesters were articulate enough to complain about the billions of dollars of taxpayer money the government just gave to the banks as a reward for their own incompetence with little to no strings attached. Instead they were just like "YEAH F*** RICH PEOPLE."

Basically the money is there, the problem is that we have a government that doesn't know (or care) how to reciprocate money in a way that benefits its people and uneducated citizens that want to have their cake and eat it too while they're currently doing neither.

The government is full of people who don't want to fix the problem because that would cut into their "do whatever the hell you want with this" money, and the uneducated masses are so afraid of the word "socialism" that they demand that we don't get socialism level benefits even though we pay socialism level taxes.

Obama's socialist agenda good for America?

If Americans are begging for health care they better be prepared to pay for it. End of story. It doesn't matter is it's socialized or private. Health care costs money.

You know what else hurts a business? When an employee is hurt and they don't have the money for health care costs. Where do you think this money comes from when someone doesn't pay their bill? You want better health care? Then we need people to start paying their medical bills. You think the Mortgage crisis is bad? Well look up the amount of hospital bills unpaid... Yeah yeah! Now you get it. It's no different.


Doctors are paying tons of money in insurance and other bills a year for 30, 40, 50, 60% of their patients to not pay them? No wonder there are doctor and nurse shortages in the US. It costs more money to be a doctor than you get out of it. Most doctors in the US are just living off the idea that they want to help someone. So let's start helping them.

Why are liberals so determined to make us a socialist country?

with bush and obama making people more dependent of the government for their every day needs. bail outs wasting our borrowed money in private sectors, EPA , OSHA and unions driving the cost of making anything too high to compete with a global market. America has been controlled for years by liberal and we are what 20 Trillion dollars in debt that's 120,000 for every man woman and child living in America today. really 240,000 because the lower half don't even pay taxes. and we have NOTHING to show for that money. why do people still want to do nothing and think they deserve a check from the government? America has not had a conservative in the white house in over 100 years. Its a very sad state we are in if spending isn't controlled THIS year we will never be able to pay the debt off, we will be working and paying taxes just to pay the interest to china. a country that obama thinks is the perfect country.

Get this! I used to work very hard. I was always one of the first ones to show-up for work at my job and always worked more and did more than was required of me. But, after 15 years, my company decided to hire some corporate mercenaries to come-in an "shape things up". So, they got rid of me and about a dozen other people that had been there for what they considered "too long".

I was devesated at first. But, then I started getting unemployment checks (for the first time in my life) and I liked it! I could sit home and do nothing and get free money every 2 weeks from the government. Then, after my 6 months of unemployment ran out, the government gave me another 3 more months! Now mind you, they didn't pay me that much, but I loved sitting home, watching Oprah, going to the beach in the summer, picking sea shells, eating out, shopping when the malls are almost empty....and the whole time...I was thinking...I could be sitting in my little cubicle at my former job, being interrupted by some lame boss that had no idea of how to run the company.

As a person with a college degree, that has always been employed since I was old enough to work (age 16), I used to wonder why people were so lazy and would sit home and collect welfare checks. Now I know why! There is far less stress! I can sleep till noon. Go to the beach. Eat out whenever I want to, and enjoy a very laidback lifestyle that others only dream of!

Why am I reading about liberals being communists?

The media, you have to understand, is controlled, the 'news' it imparts is biased and follows the agenda set by the coporate elite. If you can convince a nation that they should accept more and more wealth being owned by fewer and fewer people they won't see a decent wage or healthcare as something they should demand, they will bend over and take whatever shafting the Government and Corporations inflict on them.

And so it is that any idea of the rich being taxed to fund any kind of social programme being called 'communist'. Any idea that they can be held to account if they commit a crime is ignored, while those who can't afford lawyers are thrown into jail for minor offences. If they lose billions of dollars by being greedy and stupid, they expect tax dollars to bail them out, and the public accept this while being repossed and living in a tent.

More and more, the USA is looking like a Facist state, the definition of which is a government controlled by corporate interests. Read the link below, and tell me if you think that a fair and just society run for the people, by the people, can be left in the hands of big businesses. It is more likely that they will feather their nests at the expense of everyone else and leave the average American living in Third world conditions.

Do Liberals Really Care If America Goes Bankrupt?

There is pro and con on the spending habits of Congress and Obama. Whatever side of the issue you come down on is now irrelevant. What is done is done and we have to go forward from here. Business is the engine of our economy and business is in trouble. Foreign products are keeping the retail prices down while government tax and regulation policies are increasing cost of production. This results in severely reduced profits (taxable income) and reduced production (less jobs). Without the engine of business to power our economy there will be an even lower return of tax revenue to pay for all of this spending. Revenue taken from the private sector by government stops producing taxable revenue. Government spending on entitlements creates no new taxable revenue, only more expense to the taxpayers. As long as liberals get their entitlements and pay little tax themselves, they could care less about bankruptcy because they do not believe that it can happen. To them the well of money is bottomless. Because they believe this, they dream of a Socialist mecca where everything is free.
