List Of Current Nba Players That Can Score Easily And Have A Nice Crossover

Battle Of The Day: George Gervin vs. Allen Iverson?

This is an interesting match up. I would go with George "Iceman" Gervin. While Iverson seems to have more accolades, Gervin seems to have more stats and skill. Both are prolific scorers, they have no trouble finding the basket (both 4X leading scorers).

The thing with Gervin is his height. At 6'7" with his offensive repertoire, he could meet big men on the outside, and take little guys to the inside. His 54% FG is no surprise since Pistol Pete Maravich challenged him to a game of horse to see who shot better. I'd imagine with Iverson, he would take him both inside and outside.

His patented finger roll was unstoppable for most of the defensive-minded players. Whenever a big man was playing him, he quickly finger rolled it with ease, and I'd think he would do the same to Iverson to on his way to the basket. He even finger rolled free throws which partly accounted for the 85%.

Iverson would beat Iceman defensively. AI lead the league in steals once but was among league leaders many times, so Gervin would have to know where Iverson would strike. Iverson also has more crossovers, but his shot would probably fail him against Gervin. He would rely too much on driving to the hoop and scoring, since Gervin's defense is his weakness.

I know Gervin has had clutch issues at times, but he always plays with a cold instinct (Hence "Iceman"), and even if he does miss, he doesn't fear missing which can make or break a player. All of the best shooters were never scared to shoot so that might help out Gervin.

All in all, I would say Gervin would beat Iverson because of the height and shooting advantage. He also out rebounds AI in terms of career stats.

Who are point guards that every young basketball player should watch?

I can think in only one possible answer: John Stockton. He’s the most complete PG ever.He was obviously a great ball handler, with incredible court vision and passing skill. He has around 14 assists/game during his prime (1987–1992) with only 3.5 turnovers/game. That’s a ratio of 4 assists/turnover. Please, check every player that’s considered a great passer. Only Chris Paul is this good.Don’t be fooled thinking he’s was just a pass-first point guard because he has the all time assist record. He was also a great scorer, with a career 61% true shooting. Very good shooter (including 3pt and mid-range from pick and roll), but also surprisingly dangerous driving to the basketball, using speed, creativity and fast crossovers.I think he would be even better in today’s game with 3 seconds limitation, restricted area and also more freedom to shoot threes. But don’t forget he’s also all time steal leader (2.7 steals/game during his prime) and an elite defender (5x all-defensive second team, disputing with Jordan, Dumars and Payton). Very tough guy, with technique, stamina and concentration to challenge the best offensive players in the league.I still think Magic Johnson was a better player, but he was one of a kind, and his game is very unique and hard to mimic. He also demanded special tactics in defense, because he was not fast enough to guard other PGs.John Stockton had better fundamentals and his game style is an example for every PG. Just consider you need to adapt it with more modern strategies, with more ball movement, 3 pointers and drives to the basketball. John Stockton in current NBA would be more a 25–10 player, instead of a 16–14 player.
