Little Miss Sunshine Themes Help

How does Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind relate to the philosophy of mind?

It's better not to block things out that we regret or wish hadn't happened. Yes, life brings us painful experiences sometimes and we've all had thoughts like, "I wish I could erase that from my memory," but our experiences make us who we are. We grow through the good things and the bad and erasing something does not make things better, and in a way might erase part of who we are.

I would also say that another philosophical point of the movie is that if something is meant to be it will find a way to be no matter what. When Joel and Clementine eventually had their memories of each other erased, at the end of the movie they ended up meeting and being drawn to each other all over again.

Little Miss Sunshine!?! How does this movie make you feel?

Maybe PMS is a beast...or I've been smoking too much dope lately... but doens't this movie make you feel effing wonderful?!

LOL.

she doesn't look like a tiny "plastic doll".... and her family shows her soooo much support...especially when they all jump on stage and dance with her. All they wanted was for her to have a chance and to know she is loved and appreciated and just as talented as anyone else... the movie makes me tear up! omg! i seriously hate kids, but if i have one (or like 4) I will make sure they know how special and talented and capable they are.

omg and this makes my family look...normal. hahaha. i love it.

what about you?

Is little miss sunshine a good movie? Why is it rated R?

Little Miss Sunshine is a great movie. I went to an independent movie theater on Saturday afternoon to see it, because I thought it wouldn't be so crowded. I was wrong. And the showing after this was even more packed. People were laughing histerically throughout the movie. I laughed so hard a couple of times that I started to cry. It's rated R, because the grandpa snorts cocaine a couple of times, he likes porn, the characters talk about sex, there are some scenes related to death and he cusses a lot.

What does the movie Little Miss Sunshine actually imply?

First of all it's a character piece with a simple plot of a family trying to get their girl attend a beauty contest. So nothing much to learn there.Dad- His motivational speaker who wants to start his own business, in the end understands it won't happen.Mom- An overworked mother trying to keep family together.Son- commits to a vow of silence, wants to join the army- in the end finds he's color blind so his goal won't happen.Daughter- prepares for beauty contest, wants to win it- in the end doesn't win but also get banned for coming years.Brother in law- Just recovered after ditched by BF, wants to win him back- in the end finds that won't happen.Grandfather- Bossy person who don't gives a damn about anything- well you know what happens to him, midway. So everyone end up losing their dreams/goals but they still stay together. Even when they find out there is no chance of their girl winning the contest they try to support her by enjoying the moment. So I guess, the creators wanted to convey, even though we fail.. staying together (being there) & enjoying the moments with loved ones matter the most.

Momento vs Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind compare and contrast?!?

One contrast is that Jim Carrey chose to have his memory erased in Eternal Sunshine, while Leonard had his memory taken from him.

One comparison is that they both fight to keep their memories. Lenny does this by tattooing himself and Jim Carrey does this by pleading for the erasing to stop while he's under and then hiding himself and Kate Winslet within his memories.

Another contrast is that Eternal Sunshine's theme is that we're better off with our memories no matter how painful they are and Memento's theme is more along the lines of some things are best left forgotten since Lenny will forever be on a wild goose chase for his wife's killer.

Hope this helps.

Where can I find the TV edited or PG-13 version of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?

**** Censorship. Actually this movie really isn't all that bad even if it's R rated. It's mainly because of the sexual themes i don't even remember the language being that bad. Basically it's not for the young public mainly because they would not get it. If you're trying to show it to someone who has never loved and lost they won't fully be able to connect to the story. So if you're trying to find an edited one as you're trying to show it to younger kids it probably won't do you any good.

However to answer your question the only way to find this one edited is to just record it off of tv if you can find it.

What other books and movies have the same theme as Whiplash and Black Swan?

By the same theme I assume you're talking about an individual, gives away everything for the sake of their goal. Here are a few movies that in my opinion, shares very similar themes (even though not exactly the same).Birdman (2014)Moulin Rouge! (2001)Frank (2014)The Truman Show (1998)The Prestige (2006)Zodiac (2007)Gattaca (1997)Little Miss Sunshine (2006)Nightcrawler (2014)Frances Ha (2012)Not all of these movies shares the exact same theme, some of them even has different genres but overall you can see the same message hiding somewhere. If you want 8/10 match or so: Birdman, Frank and Nightcrawler will most likely to give you what you want!
