What was the Scottish Referendum all about?
To put it short Scotlandt was getting annoyed that Westminster had a lot of power over the way the Scottish people were governed. They believed that devolution of the centralised government would not happen, that Westminster were lying, and using it to get votes from the Scots. So the Scottish parliament organised, and put forward the referendum, to give the Scottish the choice, of whether to leave the UK or stay (and by staying, Westminster would be forced to give more power to the Scottish.)It had little to do with the welfare system, the Yes campaign made out that the Scottish taxes were going towards useless services, but to be honest, they have the best deal in the UK for welfare. Free university education, free prescriptions, free transport for the elderly, compared to England who have to pay for all those things.I guess the bedroom tax and food banks Westminster had set up, were annoying people - not just in Scotland, but nationwide. I think that argument was used to back up the Yes campaign, but the beliefs about Westminster's policies weren't just isolated to Scotland.The belief that Scotland would be economically better off on its own was also a popular belief. The oil revenues are still high there, in fact I heard fuel prices are decreasing due to there being more oil discovery. Dropping from about £1.28 to £1.20.I think it is probable that they would have coped, with only a small population to sustain and a lot of income from oil, distilleries, ship building etc.

Well I wouldn't know since I fought in the Civil War and am answering from beyond. But a thought the library has alot of books on Wars and other helpful information and if you don't know what a library is. It's a big building with alot of books and many other interesting things.
