Looking For A Good Veterinarian In Toronto Cats

Which is more difficult: becoming a doctor or a veterinarian?

It is more difficult to get into veterinary school than it is to get into medical school. I would expect the four year programs are similar in difficulty and intensity. Med students learn about more types of testing that are available for their patients and likely learn more diseases than a vet student learns about each species, but the total number of diseases they learn about is likely the same, the vet has to learn different ones for each species. I also suspect that the costs of attending university are about the same for both, but there may be more scholarships available for med students. After vet school a vet can opt to do an internship or residency and become board certified like a doctor can, but for vets its 1–3 years and its 3–5 years for a doctor I believe. The amount of sleep one gets depends on the type of practice the vet will do…zoo animal vets and vets working in practices that see emergencies don’t get much sleep either. Medical doctors get paid at least 2–3 times what vets do for the same level of education, same level of services provided and the exact same procedures sometimes. It is emotionally very hard on vets because many people do not value their animals lives as much as they would a family member, and because there is no universal health insurance that pet owners take out so a lot of them cannot pay for services that would easily correct an animal’s problem. Performing euthanasia is also extremely emotionally difficult. The guilt and sorrow can be overwhelming. Suicide rates are higher for veterinarians than for doctors. Vets will not euthanize animals just because their owners won’t pay their bills. They will only euthanize when there is no other way, and they agonize over it. Doctors agonize over the end stages of their patients too, and wish they would pass to end their suffering…but only someone who has never performed a euthanasia would consider it a relief. So, there really isn’t an answer hear. As a doctor you get more money and get insurance support. As a vet you develop closer bonds with your patients and have less legal hoops to jump through. Apples and oranges.

Where can I rent a cat carrier/cage for one day, in Toronto?

I have three cats I need to bring to the vet tomorrow, but we only bought one cage. I don't want to buy another 2 cages just for tomorrow, would anyone know if there's a travel agency maybe that rents these out per day? I've asked my family for help, but they've all been quite passive.

Thank you!

Taking my cat to the vet without a carrier!?

Hi, I want to take my cat for a checkup at the end of this month, but I don't have a carrier for him. The times before when taking him to the Vet were hard! To get him in the car from home and out to the vet! But, If I wrap him tightly in a towel and hold him while my father drives and my mother helps me with him in the back of the car, while giving him some treats, will that help?

Is declawing your cat illegal in Toronto or even throughout Canada?

No.As far as I am aware, there is no serious effort to pass anti declawing legislation in any Canadian administrative subdivision.I have heard though, that many vets refuse to offer the procedure.

My cats eyes won't dilate, what could this mean?

No she's in bright light when I check them, i just read a few thing and she may be going blind, I have a vet app tomorrow. She was missing for almost 2 months and I just found her 3 days ago.

AND no you idiot she's not dead.

How to take cat to vet without a car?

putting the cat in a cardboard box and then taking it out into public is a bad idea. she will be frightened by the new surrounding and jump out. cats have, in their confusion, run into busy streets because of their fear. it would be awful. a cat carrier is the best way to go. i would not recommend tying it to your bike - if you overbalance you will fall, and the cat will have no room to move and catch its self. if you must not use a car, and if public transport will not allow a cat in a carrier (in toronto they do) then you will have to walk. it might be winter, and if so you will have to think of how to keep the cat warm. the truth is that the longer she is in the carrier and ferried around strange places, the more upset she will become. she might be impossible to examine when she does get to the vet and they will have to drug her just to check her vitals. i think your desire to be committed to the environment (i am presuming this is why you are dedicated to the bike idea) is wonderful, but if the vet is not close to you, the result will be very unpleasant for your cat.
i am speaking from experience - i do not have a car, and am not strong enough to carry my cat all the way to the vets. my friend has done so, and by the time he got there the cat was so afraid he bit everyone in sight and retreated under the table. it cost a hundred dollars to anesthetize him, just so they could check him out. a cab would have been twenty bucks and would have saved my little guy from being so afraid he peed himself.

How much does it cost to deworm a kitten in cananda?

you can buy over the counter de-worming medicine for cats which will be cheaper than seeing a vet as the vet will charge a fee for a consultation plus the de-worming medicine or injection so if you are on a limited budget the best option is over the counterdormerr. get one that is a all round wormer which is for 99% of worms. if you have a pets at home store the sales staff will help you but always follow the instructions cats have to be wormed regularly
