Whats a good pocket knife to buy?
A sharp one. Bucks are ok, all the way up to benchmades. Gerbers can be pretty decent, as long as you don't get a gimmicky one. If you don't know much about knives, might want to try to find one made out of 440, nothing high carbon. And invest in a good, no brainer sharpener. A lot of really good knives get ruined by a newb who doesn't know how to sharpen a blade.
"Feminine" pocket knife?
Thanks for looking at this. I am looking for a pocket knife that isn't too large, thick, bulky, etc, but I want a blade longer than 1.5". My main purpose for this knife would be for cutting tape and string (I own a horse and opening haybales is almost an everyday occurance). Basically, I would like a thin knife that has a 3" blade that is sturdy. I just want a very basic one, no need for nail files, scissors, etc. Just a plain knife that is slender. My question is if you know of any place (website or store) I could get one? Also, I don't want to spend a lot. Preferably no more than $35. Thanks, Burgundy

I'm looking for a pocket knife for my boyfriend for christmas. He has a $2 one he uses so often I figured a nice one would be a good gift. I'm having trouble deciding which brand to choose. He doesnt hunt or anything. It's just basically uses for everyday tasks and stuff around the house. Does anyone have any ideas of what brand or knife to look at? I know it needs to have a clip on it. You can find them pretty much anywhere. Go to a Walmart in the city and they'll have some. But, a knife doesn't do anything when your attacker has a gun. If somebody confronts you and you pull out a knife, you might just scare them into pulling out a gun. And then what? I know that NYC has very bad gun laws, so getting a handgun is just about impossible. If you do carry a knife, know that you're running the risk of scaring somebody that might have a gun on them. EDIT: Really, no Walmarts in NYC? That must be the only store they don't have. Well, due to the demographics of NYC (liberal), you won't find many hunting or knife shops. Why does my pocket knife have "For Flesh Only" printed on one of the blades?
This was used by farmers and designed for the use in cattle castration. The specially curved tip design allows for it to cut easily and not puncture the animal . So i would assume it is stamped for that reason
