Becoming an Army Ranger w/ marijuana possession and paraphernalia charge?

I think this is wrong.......but you record will be expunged if you keep your nose clean.
Records of juveniles are wiped clean every day in every state.
If you are serious about going straight, you may want to talk to a lawyer- he can push this a little faster. It may cost you $3k, but you record will be gone as soon as it times out. If you let justice take its normal course- you may be 25 before the state gets around to your record.

Was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia in Florida?

ok
I am in Florida, and about a year ago I got the same charge.
If it is REALLY your first offense, no other misdemeanors, you will probably be charged with "with-holding of judification".
This means that you are given a second chance. You are released, not charged with being guilty of anything. It means you are neither guilty or innocent. It just means they basically let it go- although it stays on your record for your whole life that you were charged with possession and paraphernalia, but the verdict was "withholding of judification" for anyone who wants to access your criminal record.
Your punishment will most likely just be to pay court costs, which vary by county but are usually about $250.00 and you have a period of time to pay it in or you can make payment arrangments to split it up over 6 months.
You do not need an attorny for this. If you have a previous clean record- the judge will give you another chance. All you need is a public defender who will be provided to you in court.
The least that will happen (and most likely) is that you will pay court fees. The worst (and this is only if you are a repeat offender) would be a few days to a couple months in county jail. This will not happen unless you act ignorant in court, like you haven't learned your lesson, or if you have previous arrests for the same thing.
You are lucky you were released at the scene. These cops who bust you with weed can be real douche bags in Florida. What county are you in?

If you get an attorny, you are wasting your money. You are the least of the courts worries for having a pipe and some weed. Say you were wrong, it was a mistake. I would be willing to bet $100.00 you will not have probation, I have known DOZENS of people in Florida arrested for poss/par and not a single one has ever had to get probation, and none has ever had an attorny. We all got the same charge- we plead guilty and didnt even get charged being guilty. The court systems do not see this first offense to be any cause for wasting a probation officers time. Just plead guilty, explain to the judge that you made a mistake and you assure him it will never happen again.

YOU NEED A LAWYER AND GET ONE TO DROP THE MISDEMEANOR MARIJUANA CHARGE CAUSE THEY ASK ABOUT THAT ON JOB APPLICATIONS AND YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE IT ON YOUR RECORD. AGREE TO PLEA GUILTY TO THE FULL SPEEDING TICKET AND THE PARAPHENELIA CHARGE. YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO TAKE THOSE CLASSES. THE CLASSES WILL COST YOU AS MUCH AS A LAWYER AND YOU DON'T EVEN LIVE IN THAT STATE. You're looking at $400 for the lawyer and a couple hundred in fines for speeding and the surcharges they attach to it and maybe another $100 for the paraphenelia. That's your best way out but it will still cost you approx. $700-$800 and you have to show up in court in that state/county court at least once. Get it done right the first time so you don't have to go back. Next time when smoking and driving, keep a spray bottle of "Ozium" air sanitizer in the car. It's a small bottle and when sprayed it illiminates all and I mean all odors within 5 seconds flat... Keep it in a handy accesible location. Not in a glove box because when a cop is following you he is looking to see if you're reaching under your seat or into a glove box. Good luck... P.S. - next time pull over in a rest area and walk into the woods a distance so your car doesn't reek.

Do those charged with possession of marijuana go to maximum security prisons?

Luckily possession charges usually don’t result in long enough sentences that would result in prison time. There are some ways it can happen, say you are on parole and you get an additional possession charge, you could have your parole violated and end up in prison. If you have it bagged out in separate bags, even if you were just picking up an extra 8th from your friend, you would be charged with trafficking. There are ways you could be charged with a felony for some weeds stuff.Even if you were charged with a felony, most felons end up being put on work release in their local jail’s work release cell (In laurel county it was the old jail, entire thing was work release) or better yet a class C or D camp, basically a minimum security prison, usually have much better privileges and jobs you can get. I did my 5 years in a work camp for the most part, Frankfort Career Development Center (sounds like a community college) and it was pretty kushy for an american prison (some are scary violent horrible places)A class D can get put in maximum for pretty benign reasons. One of which would be if the inmate is on any kind of psychological medication, zoloft can get you classified as mentally unstable. So much so that inmates with low enough sentences that would be in danger of having to do all their time in a county jail, will get put on some kind of psych’ med around their sentencing just to ensure that they are shipped. Sounds crazy, but even the max prisons are way better than county jails, I saw more violence from other inmates and guards in county than I ever did in max. Went to northpoint, a max prison in Ky and LaGrange for a short period of time, and it wasn’t as bad as people make it out. Most of the people I saw get hurt were kind of asking for it in some way. Guards didn’t mess with people as far as assaulting them, or macing/tazing people. They could get written up for being too heavy handed, but in county they were pretty much uninhibited.Really weren’t many people in max unless they had violated their parole for a weed related crime. There was no one there who’s initial charge was simple marijuana possession.
