Math Test Percentage Grade

What percent do my math grades add up to?

I'm afraid not.

Specifically:
achieved marks = 12 + 17 = 29
available marks = 23 + 53 = 76

Total grade = 29 / 76 = 38.16%

You got over 50% on the smaller test, but your grade on the bigger test dragged it down. Keep at it though!

I got 42 / 45 on a geography test, what would the percentage of that be??? the teacher only gives a level!?

To find the percentage grade for anything like this, just take your score (in this case, 42) divided by the maximum score (in this case, 45). So, you would have gotten a 93% in this case.

What are the grade boundaries for IB SL math? What percentage do I need for a 6?

It changes every year depending on what the scores are, and it also changes for every timezone. At my school, our teachers just use the most recent grade boundaries (May 2017).Here are the May 2017 Boundaries, make sure that you check the correct timezone (on the right)Nonetheless, you require about 70% to get a 6, so try to be on the safe side.Hope this helps!

If I have an A- and I got a 72 percent on a test what is my grade?

It depends how much this test counts and how strong your A- is. Let’s assume the you have your A- with 91% and the grading table is like this:Grade Percent:A=100–90B=89–71C=70–50D=50–41F= <=40And the test accounts for 40% of the total great (If it share this 40% with 4 other tests its just 10% and so on but to keep it simple I will assume only 1 test). Than you have 81% of 60% and 72% of 40%.So 91% of 60% is 54.66% and 72% of 40 % is 28.8%.So as a total you have 54.6%+28.8=83.4%So this would still be a B.Edit: Initially I had a different grading table, where an A was given down to 80% and I fixed this grading table when I realized that it might be something to generous, but I still used this assumption in my example calculation - so I fixed this mistake now. This mistake however didn’t really changed the answer.

I got a 35 out of 50 on my math test. What grade would that be A, B, C, D or U?

C-

How do I calculate a final grade with percentages?

MethodFinal Grade = (Grade 1 x 60%) + (Grade 2 x 40%)Short ExamplesQ1. What is the Final Grade if Grade 1 is 95 and Grade 2 is 70?A1: Final Grade = (95 x 60%) + (70 x 40%) = 57 + 28 = 85Q2. What is the Final Grade if Grade 1 is 55 and Grade 2 is 43?A2: Final Grade = (55 x 60%) + (43 x 40%) = 33 + 17.2 = 50.2Long ExamplesQ1. What is the Final Grade if Grade 1 is 95 and Grade 2 is 70?M1: Final Grade     = (Grade 1 x 60%) + (Grade 2 x 40%)     = (95 x 60%) + (70 x 40%)      = (95 x 60/100) + (70 x 40/100)     = (5700/100) + (2800/100)      = (57) + (28)     = 85A1. Final Grade = 85Q2. What is the Final Grade if Grade 1 is 55 and Grade 2 is 43?M2: Final Grade     = (Grade 1 x 60%) + (Grade 2 x 40%)     = (55 x 60%) + (43 x 40%)      = (55 x 60/100) + (43 x 40/100)     = (3300/100) + (5020/100)      = (33) + (50.2)     = 50.2A2. Final Grade = 50.2

My percentage in Math is currently 90% in grade 10. How can I bring it up to 94+%?

You should realize that 94% is nothing, it’s an arbitrary number that you’ve made up. If you chase that number, you will never reach it. Realize that a few years from now, no one will care if you got a 90% or a 94% on your math exam. The question you should ask yourself is “What truly matters?”KnowledgeA cliche but accurate answer. All great mathematicians, scientists, and academically successful people in general have been motivated by the thirst for knowledge, the thrill of problem solving, and the prestige of their subjects. You should aim to learn. If there’s a specific topic that you can’t grasp completely, for example vectors or transformations, learn about that topic, research its intricacies on the internet and from your text books, solve challenging problems related to those topics. Chase knowledge, and that 94% will become an insignificant stepping stone towards greatness.

I failed a math test. (53%) and I was getting an 84 percent before. How much % will my grade fall.?

Can't really say without more information.

we would need to know how many total points rolled up into
the 84% you had going in.

To give you an example. If you had previously taken 5 tests, each
worth 100 points, your 84% is 84% of 500 points = 420 points

now if you have another 100 point test and get 53% your new grade
is (420+53)/600 = 78.8%

If you had taken 6 tests. Then the 84% is 84% of 600 = 504
and your new grade would be (504+53)/700 = 79.57% which you
hope gets rounded up to 80%

Is an 80 percent a good grade?

Good?

Its better than a 79%, that is for sure. But unfortunately it is also worse than an 81%

Most American schools consider that the very bottom of the B range. Cant get worse without it being a C... which isnt saying too much.

In my opinion, no, its not really that good at all. Better than average, perhaps, but average sucks... and not because "being" average sucks but because the American average is pretty shiity compared to even a third world countries standards.

We as a society are always satisfied with mediocre... which wouldnt be so bad if not for the fact that we keep lowering the standard. "No child left behind" requires that all attending students get a passing grade... or else we are segregating based on grades and academic performance... which wouldnt be fair to the people not smart enough to pass the class in any other country.

If it were up to me, a student wouldnt even pass the class - any class - with less than a 75%. As it stands, passing requires that you guessed your way to a 60%... and even THAT wouldnt be so bad if not for the fact the American academia is leaning toward multiple choice tests.
