Me And My Dad Like Playing Games Like Empire Earth Together Any Games That Have The Same Idea

Why do you waste time playing video games when you could be out enjoying the world?

Let me tell you the story of a deeply intelligent person who “wasted” a lot of his time growing up playing video games. My boyfriend and I met in college, where we were both part of the honors program. He was brilliant in so many ways. An amazing musician, a top-level scholar, an accomplished athlete, a humble yet fearless leader. What I didn’t know when we first started dating is that he was also a devoted gamer. This didn’t make sense to me at first. Forget my own secret Sims addiction. This guy was so accomplished, but here he was, telling me that in high school, he used to play HOURS of video games, sacrificing sleep. Granted, he still managed to have a social life and get good grades, but with his talents, wouldn’t he be better off doing something else?Fast forward five years into our relationship. We are now “adults” and my company asks me to move to Germany. I am excited but also terrified – how will he find a job in this extremely competitive job market? He sends off application after application, but they all want someone who speaks German. We’re both anxious all the time. What if he can’t stay?Eventually, he starts getting offers. But the companies aren’t quite the perfect fit. Until… he is invited to work at a video game company, which releases some of the most popular games. Part of his interview? Defeating a boss in the game he’ll be working on.Moral of the story is – don’t judge someone by passions you deem as “less than.” Video games provide many people with relaxation, community, and an opportunity to build a world based off their imagination or to learn storytelling skills. My boyfriend and I are objectively successful young people, who travel and see the world. But sometimes, it just feels good to live in your imagination. And other times, your hobbies lead you to rewarding careers and experiences. There are healthy ways to have a relationship with video games. Too much of anything is a bad thing. But video games are not objectively bad, or objectively a waste of your time. We all have different hobbies. And that’s okay.

What older video games would you like to see receive a reboot?

Full Spectrum WarriorA squad real-time tactic shooter. With the right engine to modernize the rts.Need for Speed: Pro StreetNot so old, but offers a lot. But not that much and that's the problem. A re-skin + expand the car catalog + a better customizable performance per car and some features from Shift and DiRT and EA can have my money any day. Not the crap they sell today. ProStreet graphic are still cool, you have 100% freedom customizing your visuals. Need for Speed 2015 is the biggest nonsense game ever.S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of ChernobylMan…oh man. The greatest PC post-apocalyptic survival and classic remade with today's graphics. Fallout? What is that? Stalker games are just hard.SWAT 4A remake and will be instantly against Rainbow Six: Siege. And because we need more games like Siege to end the CoD and Battlefield empire. SWAT 4 will be great with today's tech. The Lord of the Rings trilogyI'll instantly buy this if it happens. The co-op in this game is just amazing + replay value. An engine similar to Bloodborne or Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (wich is basically a LotR story) yep. Insta-buy.And Diablo IIThis is something we keep hearing about but we're not sure if will happen. However, if, just if happen… I hope Blizzard don't screw the game consolizing it like Diablo III. Learn from your mistake and stay on PC Blizzard! We have Path of Exile just in case, a modern Diablo II in a lot of ways.

How much more advanced would we be today, if the Roman empire had not fallen when it did?

When the Roman empire collapsed, a dark age of "backwardness" lasted for nearly 1000 years, the advancements made during the Roman empire at that time were seen ahead of its time, and were "lost" until the beginning of "Renaissance".

Gamers: you will be given $1 for every minute you have played any video game in your life now and into the future, how much would you get?

Well, it is impossible for me to get the exact number, but I can try.Let’s start with the small potatoes.Left 4 Dead 191 hours according to SteamCounter-Strike 1.6 332 hours according to SteamTwelve playthroughs of Mass Effect 2, average of 30 hours per game. Bringing us up to 360 hours.Counter-Strike before Steam 600 hours.A bunch of assorted games like Deus Ex, Warhammer: Total War, Serious Sam… At 40 hours per game that’s somewhere around 1000.Masters of Orion 2 give or take 1200. I’ve played it so, so many times… One of the best games ever made. Then we have about eight thousand League of Legends games. On average 35 minutes per game. 11000 hours.Getting scary, huh?Now the big guns.Lineage 2, according to the old server statistics, clocks in at about 600 days of pure online time on my main account. Throw in solo levelling of pets and other assorted characters, and you crack 800, easy. Sure, some of it was AFK in Giran square selling stuff, but still… 19200 hours. It all adds up to about 4 years of pure game time, and is counting just the last twelve (?) years of my life. I am sure I missed some games. I played WoW, but it was a short stint, stuff like that…Plus, I have no idea how many hundreds and thousands of hours I’ve spent playing Dune, Diablo, Doom, Duke Nukem, DotA 1, Need for Speeds, NES games, and all those amazing gems of childhood one inadvertently forgets. Also, I don’t count mobile games. That’s not gaming. That’s killing time.Yeah… I am one of those.I am just 31 years old. You might’ve noticed I have a bit of a problem… Well, had. I finally kicked it, and now my obsessive mind rides on sugar instead of alcohol, and on writing and editing instead of games. I play a good game now and then, like Deus Ex, but I got it under control. So, to answer the question:At 33883 hours of known time, I would have made 2 032 980 Dollars in twelve years. I call worth it.To speculate, the real numbers must be way, way higher. But I am not comfortable with guessing.A picture from our glory days. Rushing S-grade bosses while others were at work/slept. All nine characters logged in by two players. And as anyone who played the game will tell you from the buffs, we did the boss in 90 seconds flat. Thanks for the A2A, Krish.Want to know more? Follow.

Does the catholic church use circular reasoning?

But where did your interpretation of Jesus referring to Peter's FAITH instead of Peter himself come from?

Some protestant leader many centuries ago. So you're not in any better situation than a Catholic is.

You need to learn Greek and Aramaic, though. If Jesus was speaking in Greek (as the oldest text of this Gospel that exists is written in), He would have said, "You are Peter (petros, male form, indicating Simon's nickname, like "Rocky") and upon this rock (petra, female form, indicating a stone), I shall build this Church," which might give credence to the claim that Jesus isn't speaking about Peter himself, but Peter's statement of faith.

However, Jesus didn't speak Greek to Peter. I supposed He could have, but Peter wouldn't have understood him. Peter and the author of this text, Matthew (i.e., Levi the Tax Collector), spoke Aramaic.

In Aramaic, there is no difference between the word for Rock as in a name for a man and a rock as in a stone on the ground. So a more literal translation is, "You are The Rock and on this Rock I will build my Church." Suddenly, there isn't a difference between Peter the man and whatever it is that Jesus is building His church upon. Furthermore, other passages of Scripture support the idea that Peter was the leader of all the Apostles and thus the leader of the Church. For example, even though John reached Jesus' tomb first, he gave Peter the courtesy of waiting and allowed Peter to go in first. Might seem odd in our culture that isn't used to such social hierarchy, but it was significant to them. Another example is how Peter preached at Pentecost. There are others as well. Peter clearly takes precedence over the other apostles, plus there is a clear and unbroken apostolic succession from Peter all the way to Benedict XVI today.

In other words, there is a lot more evidence to back up the Catholic interpretation of this passage than there is to support the Protestant assumption...made by people who openly objected to the idea of listening to any successor of Peter's. Kinda convenient of them to reinterpret this bit, wasn't it?

Any ideas for a fun song for a dad dance for my recital?

I'm trying to put together a Dad dance on stage for my recital, but I can't find a good song. I'm thinking they might be most willing to do the dance if I choose some sort of rock song. Any suggestions would be great!
