Mecep Marine Corps Program

Mecep program?

As with everything else in the Corps... PT Scores. Officers are expected to out perform enlisted so make sure you are getting your 300 or are at least in the >275 range. Take some college courses and build up your hours.

Best thing is to demonstrate your leadership skills to the officers and staff nco's of your command. Make it known you want to go MECEP. Above all show that you have a good strong work ethic, knowledge of military tactics, and leadership ability.

Do the Marine Corps have a delayed entry program? If so, how does one qualify?

Marine Corps, Delayed Entry Program – When Can I Join The Marines? While many young Marine Corps hopefuls believe that they can walk into a recruiter’s office and automatically be signed up and shipped out to boot camp, such is often not the case. Sometimes, recruiters and recruiting commands may have to reserve positions for recruits for basic training. The Delayed Entry Program, also known as the Delayed Enlistment Program, incorporates recruits into the inactive reserves and includes an agreement to report for active duty, most often called “shipping out to boot camp”, at a specific date in the future. This timeframe may be anywhere from several days to several weeks, to several months. It should be noted by recruits that signing a delayed entry program is a contract and is legally binding. As with any other recruit, certain requirements need to be met prior to being shipped out. These may include but are not limited to:Recruits must be at least 17 years oldRecruits must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent diplomaRecruits must pass a physical examinationRecruits are also required to pass intellectual testsRecruits should also know that being placed on a waiting list in the delayed entry program does not count toward military service, and does not generate military pay or benefits. Many hopeful Marines who are placed in a delayed entry program make a good use of their time to increase physical strength and stamina as well as to decide what job or position they might be interested in so that when they are called to active duty, goals and expectations may be metYour best bet is to talk to your USMC recruiter.

Do you have to be an E5 to be in the Marine Corps MECEP program?

No. In fact, I've seen ranks as low as Lance Corporal both considered for MECEP, and accepted to MECEP. Keep in mind that circumstances like these are particularly rare, as finding an E1-4 that possess the maturity and the inclination to head off to Officer Candidate School is like finding a Unicorn reading the New York Times in a sewer with the Ninja Turtles.

How long will it take to become an E5 in Marine Corps?

Lol, Depends on your MOS ( job) . If your a recruiter, and a good one rank comes quick . There are standards or guidelines for normal advancement but I’ve been out since 85 so I’m out of date on that subject. Speaking for myself . I got PFC in 6 months , Lance Corporal around a year later , Corporal came fast then I was moved into the position of : NCOIC ( non commissioned officer in charge) of the units armory. This set me up for a quick upgrade to Sargent because they wanted to send me to Warrent Officer School. I’m using this as an example of how thing that happen to a marine can determine his promotion time . Also your tests and schooling etc.

Can anyone give me information about the USMC's MECEP program?

MECEP is the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program... I went through it when I was an enlisted Marine back in 1992. Once he attains the rank of Corporal, he will be entered into the program and be promoted to sergeant, at least that's how it was for me. He will maintain the rank and pay of a sergeant while in university. During the summers between his sophomore and junior and junior and senior years, he will attend OCS. Once he graduates, he will be commissioned a second lieutenant. Here's a link from a US University that furtherexplains the program. I hope this helps... best of luck to you and your boyfriend.

Can anyone in the Marine Corps confirm MECEP?

I'm interested in becoming a Marine Officer, so I plan to attend OCS after college graduation. However, a buddy of mine in the Marines told me that the two COM Officers in his battalion got their rank by enlisting after graduation and waited 2 years for the rank of Corporal. Afterward they applied for MECEP (Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program) and took OCS as Corporals. I think this would be a good idea since it will give me some insight on how the Marines work before I attend OCS, rather than jumping right into the fray without knowing much.

Now, my question is, can anyone confirm this program and let me rest assured that it's not some rare occasion that someone is actually accepted? And yes, I understand that Congress only allows so many officers. Just wondering if anyone else had an experience or knows someone who had an experience with this program. Thanks!

Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP) Eligibility requirements?

Please, I'm a green card holder who just came from Brasil, my dream was always to serve, at first I was going to join the Air force, but then I get to know more about the Marine Corps, and I just felt in love for it and I knew that's the place where I would be happy to work, of course I would love to serve the Air Force too, I have great respect for all branches, but well my first option was to join the Air Force because I want to make my way to become an pilot, but the Marines Corps have aviation too so all it's perfect, but the problem is the Enlisted Commissioning Program of the Marines =( wich is what I need to do to become an officer, and it says for to be Eligible I need to have 12 minimum college credits with the following breakdown:
3 math or science
3 english
6 any elective
and well the Air Force Enlisted Commissioning Education Program doesn't need this, as I'm new I don't know how to get these credits, can I earn them on duty? I really want to join the marines this is the only thing that's stoping me from enlisting right know.. because I want to carry a military life and I want to become an officer so that I can accomplish more stuff! I would hate to go to another branch just because I don't have those credits, can anyone explain me how I could I set things to work properly? and I know I have to be a citizen, I'll enter for the citizenship after one year of service
thx for your time, I'LL give Five star for who help's me most xD

MECEP or Reserve Route to commission Marine Corps?

Going the Mecep route will be cutting it close to be selected for flight school given the age limits. Sergeant rank or above and minimum three years active duty are required by the time the selection board convenes. The statistics for the Mecep Class that entered college the Fall of 2010 indicate that there was a 29% selection rate.

The Marines will guarantee an aviation contract to Nrotc Marine Option Mids and Plc Officer candidates who qualify as early as freshman year of college:

Oso:

Unless you need the Reserves to help finance an education, it is probably a better idea to just go to college now and join the Plc as soon as possible. There could be less need for Marine Officers in the near future and the Plc could become even more competitive than it already has. A 1st class Marine Pft, 225 minimum is required to be invited to submit an application to be selected for the Plc. Most Oso will not forward an application with less than a 240 Pft. Can also apply for the Nrotc Marine Option 4 year high school scholarship with up to 30 semester units at time of application. In other words, you could apply for the Nrotc Mo Scholarship, go to college, apply to be selected for the Plc. A 280 Pft is considered competitive for the Scholarship.
Good description of Nrotc by reading the Faq on the website of the original Nrotc Battalion founded by Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz:

Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Educational Program (MECEP)?

I am trying to be enlisted in Marine Corp now. I just have Green card. Age 26 years old. soon turn to be 27.
I have 2 BA degree in Accounting and Management Information Systems. (Currently working for one of Big 4 accounting as a tax accountant. Pay is excellent, but I want to do someting for this country.)
When I visit recruiting office, recruiting officer told me that I can enlist and go to OCS as soon as I get citizenship. Is this true? According to some source, recruiter lies like they breath.

I am thinking about go into Financial Management Resource Analyst (Code:3451).

Please give me honest opinion.

Thank you.
