Why do Dominicans deny that they are black, even though they are clearly the same as Haitians?

I’ve already written a response to this. However while we are indeed the same thing as Haitians (HUMAN BEINGS) we are definitely not facsimilies or imitations of each other in the least. We are as different as Croatians and Serbs. As Russians and Latvians. As Vietnamese from Chinese.Arabs and Persians.Hutus and Tutsies. While Haiti is nearly fully African Diaspora. The DR is an AFROMESTIZO paradise. We have blends, mixes and concotions that are unique to the island.Ironically it is those who believe in so called tolerance and diversity who are the most nearly violently opposed to a Dominican identity.Dominicans do not neatly fill their preconcieved notions and prejudices concerning blackness.Dominican while also being an idea given shape and form by our founder the illustrious and noble Juan Pablo Duarte Diez is also a people, the genetic heirs of Taino civilization forged with the blood of Spanish Conquistadors, blended alongside the sons and daughters of Africa. We sprung forth in the 1500’s and endured all the way to the present, creating a modern society and functioning democracy warts and all. While the Black Africans who apropriated the name Haiti from our Taino forebears arrived in the 1700’s, then through the onslaught of tropical diseases toppled the French regime, massacred the Europeans, then did nearly the same thing to the Dominicans in Moca, La Vega, Santiago and elsewhere have led an endless chaotic existence. If we were clearly the SAME thing why would the inhabitants of the Western side attempt to slaughter our people? If we were clearly the SAME thing why would we have the need to secede from the Western side? The answer is simple, we are not the same, we realized that long ago and have proceeded against hell and high water to maintain that which is most precious to us.Our identity and independence as the Dominican people.
