Movies Or Books Like Looking For Alaska

What are some books like Looking for Alaska?

As Simple as Snow by Gregory Galloway (John Green has said this book inspired him to write parts of Looking for Alaska)Charlie, Presumed Dead by Anne Heltzel comes to mind as well, in terms of intriguing mysteries, but this one is from a female perspective.King Dork by Frank Portman has a somewhat similar writing style, and is focused around the mysteries held in a single copy of Catcher in the Rye.I hope that helps. I love John Green, and he has a very singular writing style. It is not easy to compare him to anyone else.

Looking for Alaska or Paper Towns by John Green?

I can't decide which one to get, I've never read a book by John Green so I only want to buy one or the other just in case I don't like it. But which one, in your opinion, should I read? Looking for Alaska or Paper Towns? (Both by John Green)

Is "Looking for Alaska" a good book?

this is a quote from it that i've seen on the internet a lot..

"just like that. from a hundred miles an hour to asleep in a nanosecond. I wanted so badly to lie down next to her on the couch to wrap my arms around her and sleep. not ****, like in those movies, not even have sex. just sleep together, in the most innocent sense of the phrase. but i lacked the courage and she had a boyfriend and i was gawky and she was gorgeous and i was hopelessly boring and she was endlessly fascinating. so i walked back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were rain, i was drizzle and she was a hurricane."

Book / Movie suggestions? Donnie Darko and The Perks of Being a Wallflower?

I would suggest "Going Bovine" by Libba Bray. It has an alienated teenager, who is dying from Mad Cow disease. An angel tells him that he is actually infected with these particles released by a scientist who was conducting bizarre time experiments. He sets off to find the scientist with a midget classmate and the Norse God Baldur, who is trapped in the form of a garden gnome.

Is he actually crossing the country to find a cure for himself, or is it all a complex hallucination brought about by his disease?

The book itself is an updating of "Don Quixote"

Good sad love books like 500 days of summer?

I loved 500 Days Of Summer!

I would pick up anything John Green. His books make me think like no other. I loved Looking For Alaska and Paper Towns. I haven't read The Fault In Our Stars yet but everyone I know LOVES him. I also love David Levithan (who wrote Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist).

The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
Breaking Beautiful by Jennifer Shaw Wolf
If I Stay by Gayle Forman & then read Where She Went by Gayle Forman (I BAWLED like a baby with these)

Books similar to It's Kind of a Funny Story?

I'm an 18 year old guy; I've recently read It's Kind of a Funny Story, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and The Catcher In the Rye and I felt like I related to all of them. I was wondering if there are any other books that are similar to these that I would like?

Books similar to the Perks of being a wallflower?

Ahh, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is amazing :) And the movie didn't disappoint like most books turned into movies do.

As for similar books, I've found:
--It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini*
--Looking for Alaska by John Green**
--The Realm of Possibility by David Levithan
--Hard Love by Ellen Wittlinger
--The Vast Fields of Ordinary by Nick Burd
--Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn [I didn't know this was a book, lol]

Plus more if you go to the link that I put below.

* = I've read it, and it was good.
** = I want to read it...John Green is really good. I read The Fault In Our Stars and I loved it.

Hope I helped!
