Moving Out On Probation At 16

If Im 18 & On Probation, Can I Move Out Of My Parents House?

Me & my mom got in a fight when i was 17. The law told me if i did anything else within a yr id be on probation. Well i turned 18 in feb, my dad kicked me out the house in april. He wouldnt let me get my stuff so i called the police askingg them if they would help me get my stuff. Instead they locked me up and i got put on probation for like 7 Months. They told me if i got the law called on me again before those 7 mnths are up, they would put me back in jail. I have started college. I want to get out the house on my own. My parents wont let me, they keep saying they will call the law and i will go jail til im 21! Me and my parents do not get along. All i want to do is get out and get my own place. I do draw 700 a month. My mom takes half of it. I dnt even know if i have a PO officer.

If you are 18 and going to court and are on probation can the court or probation stop you from moving out of your parent’s house?

Brief answer for persons under US jurisdiction:If you don’t know the specific conditions of your existing probation find out what they are. You may do so by checking the court file yourself (even if confidential, it’s not confidential to you) or contacting the attorney who represented you when you were granted probation. You may or may not want to ask your current probation officer as it may be embarrassing to your situation if they learn of the pending case which could be a violation of your probation. Read carefully the conditions of your current probation. Does it specify your living conditions? Is it in general language, i.e., (…residence as approved by probation officer…”) or specifically tells you where/whom you are to live with? If you’re on formal probation, you’ll likely need the permission of your probation officer or whoever is authorized to monitor your probation. If you have attained the age of majority (18) at the time of your current case you’re considered an adult and will be treated as such. You may live where and with whom you want depending upon the conditions of your existing probation and/or the conditions set forth by the court having jurisdiction on your current case. That which is not specifically forbidden is generally permitted. Good luck on you current foray into the system.

Im on probation if i move to a new state does my case close?

Nope, and you wouldn't be able to move without your PO's permission.

To do so would be a violation... you'd get in trouble.

I've heard of people doing this... moving to different states.... but if you dared to do this you'd best not go back to NH.

Being a minor, I'm sure you wouldn't have much trouble getting permission to move, but it would be up to your PO officer whether or not to close your case. That would depend on the nature of your crime, and the nature of your PO.

Can I move out of my house if I was placed on juvenile probation when I was 16, but are currently 18 yrs old?

You committed a crime and ended up on juvenile probation. When you committed that crime, you lost the right (until the end of your probation) to decide for yourself what you will or won't do. If your PO tells you to stand on your head, you had better do the best you can to comply. Don't confront your PO or tell him what you will do or he may decide to report you to the judge for poor attitude. Then your probation may turn into a jail term. Do what you are told until your probation ends. Take care.

Can an 18 year old on juvenile probation move out of their parents house in Washington state?

Once you turn 18 you receive a whole new set of rights. Your parents no longer have control of you and all court obligations are vanquished. Basically once you turn 18 you start with a clean slate.

I don't see how anyone 18 can be on juvenile probation. Sounds like more government abuse to me. Unless you have been tried as an adult they have no control over you for pre-18 offenses.

EDIT: Well, you say he should contact his probation officer....really since they turned 18 the PO has no authority over them either.

Juvenile probation for 16 year old?

Since its your first offense, they'll proably put you on diverson (which is a lower form of probation, no big deal, last up to 6 months). They'll proably give you 30 hours of cumminty srvices and a fee. They might try to scare you by saying 'i can take away your liscene, send you to juvi, blahhhh' but they really don't do that till after your third offense (third arrest, it doesn't have to be getting caught with the same thing.)
Just don't get in any more trouble, mental insitiutions, jails, and rehabs, really are not very fun.

EDIT: do not get a lawyer for something so small, that'll just piss off your future PO and make the judge think your scared.

Will my probation officer let me move to another county

I am training to be a PO now. I know for a fact that you can move to different counties, however, you MUST meet with her or talk to her to let her know about the change and SHE will need to make the transfer request. It will be up to the other county if they will accept you. Im sure it will not be a problem. Im not sure where these other ppl get there info from...but just because you are on probation does not mean you cannot move from your current residence. Its when you need to leave the state that will cause some issues, but still would be a transfer. But your po will have to do the transfer. Dont stress its no big deal. We do it all the time in our office... so try not to worry about it and talk to her on monday, and you will see everything will be okay. Hope this helps...stay outta trouble :)

What happens when you transfer your probation from Iowa to Minnesota?

Per INTERSTATE COMPACT: Moving Out of State While On Probation dated March 16, 2017:“You must remain in the state within which you were placed on probationwhen applying for Interstate Compact. You must fill out an application for thetransfer. Then, it is up to yourprobation officer and the “sendingstate” (the state that put you onprobation) to decide if your case qualifies for transfer.”
