Music Rut Any Recommendations

Recommendations for music to listen to?

I'm in a bit of a rut with music at the moment; I really need something new.

I love Taylor Swift, Hunter Hayes, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, The Pistol Annies, The Band Perry, Eden's Edge, Eli Young Band, Luke Bryan, Rascal Flatts, Johnny Cash...

Any recommendations for new stuff to listen to?

I’m in a music rut. Does anyone have good music recommendations?

I have a few songs below which must be good to one’s ears.A country song with only two chords : A John Denver CoverA soulful song : A Frank Sinatra Cover SongA five easy chords song : An easy cover of Ringo StarrThese are a few English classics and never fade away. You can listen to these and their original versions and I hope you will like them.

Can you please recommend good music to me?

If you have access to Pandora, it can sometimes lead to new discoveries. Just start a new "station" using the name of an artist/group or song, and Pandora will use an affinity engine to find songs that are similar. I have found a few new groups that way. As an example, I created a new station for Neil Young. After playing one of his songs, Pandora offered up Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones, Knocking On Heaven's Door by Bob Dylan, Helplessly Hoping by CSN, Fearless by Pink Floyd. Downsides to Pandora include (1) you won't be introduced to a group that is outside of your current taste (unless you just create very broad or random stations), and (2) it is limited to what Pandora has licensed. Just tried the same Neil Young experiment on iTunes radio, which should have a larger catalog to pull from, but will suffer from the affinity tunnel vision. Heard Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen, Perfect Day by Lou Reed, The Weight by The Band, Badge by Cream. Check out Folk - Genres - Songza, looks like it is well curated into categories.

How do I get out of a rut in composing music?

Thanks for the A2A.Most of us have been there.  It sucks.  Writers' block attacks all artists; not just writers.  I find that I can overcome it in one of two ways:1. I keep every riff or concept or melody line/chord structure/rhythm/etc. in a file on my computer.  Every little stupid thing that I ever come up with.  I have thousands of them.  I find that when I'm truly stumped on a piece or just can't find inspiration I go to this file and just start listening.  Often times something I'd not thought about in years jumps out and helps grease the gears so the creative wheels can start turning again. 2. I find inspiration in completely unrelated art forms.  Film, sculpture, poetry, prose, performance art.  I watch/read/visit/look at/partake in any of those other forms and sometimes that loosens the dirt surrounding the proverbial rut enough to be able to clamber out and start writing music again.  One of those two ways usually works for me.  Although sometimes, it's simply a matter of time.  That rut occasionally has to run it's course based on other factors in your life.  Those times suck.

Stuck in an anime rut! need suggestions/recommendations?

Hi there! I've been trying to find some great plot driven animes that i haven't watched yet. My favourites are Cowboy Bebop, Tatami Galaxy, Haruhi Suzumiya (+ the movie), Full Metal Alchemist (both brotherhood and the original release), Eureka Seven, Evangelion, Beck, TTGL, Baccano, Durarara, Anohi, Ouran High School Host Club, Steins Gate, Code Geass, Gunbuster (1 & 2), Trigun, Gankutsuou, Gungrave, Beserk, and GTO. I feel like everything I find nowadays is mediocre in comparison to the animes listed above. Can you help me out with some suggestions? I need to get out of my anime rut! Thanks!
