Muslims Is Coffee Luwak Halal

Muslims, is coffee luwak halal?

Have you tasted it? Is it good? For those who didn't know, it's called Kopi Luwak (pronounced [ˈkopi ˈluwak]) or Civet coffee is coffee made from coffee berries which have been eaten by and passed through the digestive tract of the Asian Palm Civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus). The civets eat the berries, but the beans inside pass through their system undigested. This process takes place on the islands of Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi in the Indonesian Archipelago, in the Philippines (where the product is called Kape Alamid) and in East Timor (locally called kafé-laku). Vietnam has a similar type of coffee, called weasel coffee, which is made from coffee berries which have been regurgitated by local weasels. In actuality the "weasel" is just the local version of the Asian Palm Civet. - Wikipedia.

Sounds disgusting. Have you ever tried it before?

Can luwak coffee expire?

i think as long as it was stored in a dark dry place, it should be ok. it may be less flavorful, but I believe that's pretty expensive so it's best not to let it go to waste.

Is tea haram for Muslims?

I wonder if you understand the logic of Halal and Haram. Maybe this will help.Begin with the presumption that food is Halal unless there is a rule prohibiting it. A lot of people get this wrong. They think everything is haram unless they can be sure it is halal. That’s not how it works. The default is to be Halal.Go through the few prohibited categories and see if tea fits into one.One prohibited category is intoxicants. Intoxicants have the effect of altering perception of the world. Alcohol is an intoxicant. Cocaine is an intoxicant. Tea does not contain intoxicants so it cannot be haram for this reason. There are some types of animals that are haram to eat. One such animal is a pig. Tea has no animal component so it cannot be haram for this reason. There are some types of animals that are generally halal but can be haram due to specific conditions. For example, if a hunter comes across a deer that has been dead for 2 days, that deer is haram because of the way the deer died. Deer is usually halal but because of this condition it is haram. Again tea has no animal component so it cannot be haram for this reason. Some foods have an additive that comes from a haram source. Some gelatin comes from pigs. A type of candy might be haram because it has gelatin, even though the candy is not meat. Tea might have additives like honey, sugar, or milk. We can analyze the additives just as we analyzed tea. When we do that, we find that these additives are halal. Honey comes from bees.Prophet Muhammad specifically mentioned some foods as good to eat. One of these foods is honey. If he recommended eating a food, it must be halal. Honey is halal.I hope you can see that tea is halal and why it is halal.

Is Caffeine forbidden in Islam?

Goodness, no!Ever hear of Turkish or Arab coffee?  The Arab and Muslim world would come to a stop if coffee were outlawed.Even caffeine in soda is allowed.UPDATE:  I almost forgot about this.  My husband did the Arabic calligraphy and graphic design for Hill's Bros Coffee.  At the time, importing American coffee was a status symbol for wealthy Arabs.  They'd never drink the horrid stuff, but they bought it to show.Hills Bros. image was a Turk in Native dress drinking coffee.  They changed it to a cowboy, I think, for the Arab market.

Is it worth trying Civet Coffee or Kupi Luwak Coffee?

I have been curious about trying Civet coffee or Kupi Luwak coffee ever since I found out about it on Pawn Stars. According to the Old Man and Chumlee its great coffee. The problem is it costs a lot of money per pound. I heard its possible to buy fake Civet Coffee so is there a way of knowing if its real before I buy it? I know it comes from the poop of that animal but I don't care about that. Any specific kind I should buy? Thanks.
