I disagree strongly with your assumption that he could have had many child brides if he wished... in fact he had to take advantage of a close friend and "brother" to get access to her. Remember, this is a man who never had any success with women in his lifetime, "grew up without ever knowing the pleasures of a woman's touch" and fornicated frequently with canines before "embarking on his early career of piracy" and brigandage, waylaying pilgrims and camel trains. Only after he began his career as a false prophet did he accrue enough wealth to be able to buy women. From the age of 54 until 64, Muhammad "preferred the very young Aisha to the rest of his large harem and sex slaves"... that is the very definition of pedophilia, preferring the child over the mature woman. Arguing that Muhammad reflected the practices of his time is to admit that Muhammad was not inspired by God and was a false prophet. Moreover, by making marriage alliances, he revealed his true motive was his personal political power, rather than the religious or moral betterment of society. Far from showing Muhammad as a moral leader, this argument shows the reverse: that Muhammad was morally a pagan and a scheming politician. True revelation would have categorically denounced pedophilia as evil.

The children that survive are more likely to be premature and have a low birth weight. - Health problems: teen pregnancy, particularly below age 15, increases risk of developing obstetric fistula, since their smaller pelvises make them prone to obstructed labor. Fistula leaves its victims with urine or fecal incontinence that causes lifelong complications with infection, pain, and smell. Girls with fistula are often abandoned by their husbands and ostracized by society. - Abuse and violence: child brides are more likely to experience domestic abuse, and violence than their peers who marry later." But muslims hear only what they want to hear :) Defending pedophilia is beyond sickening.
Why do Muslims worship a pedophile?
Muslims worship Allah and Him alone. God's Messenger is Muhammad, pbuh, who was chosen to deliver the message to all nations unlike previous messengers who were sent to a specific nation. Once a girl hits puberty and begins her menstrual cycle she is no longer considered a child but rather a young woman now. So Aisha, r, had become a woman, a young woman, before her marriage to the Prophet Muhammad, pbuh, thus your accusation of pedophile is incorrect and unbiased.

Please do not feel offended, as this is not meant to be a personal attack but instead, a point of query. I will read every answer with an open mind. I've read about him “thighing” Aisha at 6 years old and then raping her when she was nine (either way you look at it, she was too young to consent). This question isn't mean to offend so much as to question; I'm curious as to what muslim(ah)s think about this. Murder and racism wasn't any less worse in the old days than it is now, so is child molesting really ok? Translated into simpler terms, although the practice may have been more common at the time, it does not make it any less morally degradable. Or at least that is my take on it. Again, I do not mean to offend. I'm honestly just trying to gather your opinion as a Muslim(ah).
