What dog breeds have the longest life span?

Typically the smallest of the breeds live the longest. That said the longest living dog ever was an Australian cattle dog named Bluey who made it to the remarkable age of 29. That aside Chihuahuas are pretty high up of the average list of longest surviving breeds living between 15 and 20 years. Yorkshire terriers are also contenders with a similar life expectancy to the Chihuahua. The Pomeranian is another breed that live between 12 and 16 years. Dachsunds are another long living breed with a lifespan of 12–15 years. as is the Toy Poodle and the Maltese. In addition to Lhasa Apso and The Pug.Essentialy the smaller they are the longer they tend to live. In general terms and not always with over enthusiastic inbreeding which can cause some seriouse defects and illness that can significantly reduce the puppas lifespan. In the case of mixed breeds where the blood line is more diverse these guys tend to do pretty well for longevity too.And now some cute dog pics because why not:)Starting with this fluffy little cuteness. Who would win in a fight, a dog or a coyote?

I have witnessed two Coyote attacks on dogs, both were my pets. The first was a 60 lb Labrador Retriever in San Diego, CA. We lived in the hills, lots of open space. My Lab was basically baited into the hill behind my house. One Coyote appeared, “yipped” and my Lab chased him into the chaparral. Lucky that I followed her, because there was a pack of Coyotes, about 6 that quickly surrounded her.Once I arrived and screamed, they all took off and Nino, the Lab stayed with me. I’m convinced that they would have killed her. 6 vs. 1.We spoke to animal control. They said due to the draught, the local Coyotes were starving and getting desperate.Years later in the suburbs of Chicago, my Old English Mastiff was attacked, well sort of, by a large Coyote. The Coyotes here are much bigger than in San Diego. They look like more like a German Sheppards. It was common for our Mastiff to get attacked on walks. While she was very passive, they are a gentle breed, it was like a “big guy in a bar” thing. For some reason other big dogs would go after her. The fights were short lived, as our Mastiff “Mrs Biggs” weighed 220 lbs. She had a 32 inch neck, and if stood her up she was over 6 feet tall. When a dog would charge, I would give Biggs the sit command, take off the leash and she would wait. This is what happened with the Coyote. It nipped at her neck, trying to get hold, and then in, as in all the fights, Biggs grab the head of the Coyote, reared off the ground and pummelled it against the path several times. The Coyote stopped fighting and ran away.Turns out this was a mother Coyote and her pups were under a deck next to us. I don’t think she intended to kill Mrs. Biggs, just trying to scare us away.So to the point of the question, I don’t think Coyotes would attack a dog, unless there is some type of stress in the situation. They are starving, mother with pups, or maybe if you dog weighs less than 10 lbs. Cats on the other hand, or neighborhood lost several cats that season.
