Your son is definitely reacting to the dominance of his father by taking a passive role and it is not normal for a ten year old. The relationship between the two should not be one of dominance by the father but a gentle one that shows the young person that they are equal in the relationship. Dependable, caring, teaching and gentleness are goodqualities to learn as a child and not dominant and passive roles seen in the animal kingdom. The child needs no teaching that he is not the same as father just by his size. Those who insist that boys needstrong discipline and a dominant male model are just wrong. The opposite is true If the father teaches respect for others, including women, and demonstrates a father figure who solves problems withoutaggression or resorting to violence.

This is not good. Not all kids who hurt animals are future human abusers but almost all humans who have violent or killing tendencies have hurt animals in their past. There is no way to know to know what your nephew will be like when he is older, if he becomes older. He could be in an accident, or have a disease, and have no future. But with all that you have said, he has no "present". He is in an extremely dysfunctional home, and his behavior is his acting out his anger. If at all possible, speak to his first grade teacher, or whomever is his school counselor, etc. Let them know the situation, and find out how he is at school. You may not get answers, because you are not the parent, but you can warn the principal of the home situation. They know nothing sometimes, until too late. Be around him as much as possible and let him know that SOMEONE cares. Find outlets for his acting out, such as sports, etc. Be the friend that he needs. BUT, he still will need psychiatric evaluation, and you will need your sister to allow that to happen. Your description of the male members as being anti-social will have some bearing on your nephew, because he has no positive male model. But this doesn't mean that being anti-social is wrong...my husband and also my best male friend are both anti-social, in that like doing things on there own. So, rather than using anti-social as a description, always stress what proof you have for your description of them. When you talk to a counselor, principal, or whomever, have all of your facts written down, and use this as your argument that this child needs supervision and help. And yes, hurting animals is a sign that the child is angry. For those who wrote and said it is no big deal, trust me, it is. Simply because of the background you describe him to be in, he is picking on a vulnerable animal right now; later it leads to hurting kids in school, and much later, can lead him into jail. Get him help, however you can, and begin at his school. They are mandated to help such a child and can relieve you of going to authorities; they can ask for the Welfare Dept. to look into the situation and keep you out of it. Good luck. Nah it's not illegal. But in real world, It will boiled down to which part of the India you are talking about? And then what type of Hotel is it?I don't have personal experience staying with a girl. But I have seen couples staying in hotel who aren't married. But definitely they are not shady part of the town. (Which I’m afraid to even stay alone)Indian police is generally so corrupted. So your law justice type of argument is most of the type will go invalid. Seldom you may get to find yourself in YouTube if you have chosen a bad hotel or just bad luck.It's not just the police you need to worry about. In some part of India there are self claimed cultural, religious enforcers will barge in your room. They will beat the hell out you and even your girlfriend with out thinking she is a woman. They are not safe guard of culture rather love frustrated anti social thugs in disguise. You can see some sick videos in social media where they beat woman for wearing certain type of dress. I'm not sure those video are genuine or just made for political reasons though.India is a great country for food, culture, architecture etc. But for freedom of love it's still bad. I remember the old saying. You can piss in the public but you can never think about a kiss in public.Still if you go and stay in a high class hotel then no one will bat an eye. Otherwise you should be a legal enforcer with a gun at that point to talk about law and order
