My Bearded Dragon Has A Hard Lump On Its Left Rear Leg But I Dont Know What It Is Help

Any suggestions to get a picky bearded dragon to eat it's fruit and vegtables?

My bearded dragon is about 1 1/2 years old. I have been trying to get him to eat more fruits and vegtables because he shouldn't be eating all these crickets. All he will eat is crickets, moist bearded dragon bites from the pet store, and romaine lettuce....

How do I get him to eat other things? I've tried mixing it with the romaine, chopping everything up really small, and even putting some in his mouth to get him to try it....he is not interested in trying anything new at all! Any ideas?

My Bearded Dragon's front limbs seem swollen, what can i do?

I almost wonder if he could be edemic. This happens when fluid leaks from the capillaries and causes swelling in the surrounding areas. It usually happens in the legs and feet, and/or around the neck and eyes. There are a ton of things that can cause it, but improper diet is one of the top causes. If your beardie is overweight, this would only make the problem worse.

His diet needs greatly adjusted. Eliminate the baby food completely. Crickets should be the main source of protein. Silkworms and phoenix worms are other good sources. Mealworms and superworms are risky because of their tough outer shell, and they are believed to have caused impaction in some beardies. Waxworms and mice are extremely fattening, and should only be given as a very occasional treat. At your beardies size and age, most of his diet should be plant matter, mostly greens with only a little bit of fruit. Peas, carrots, and apples, should only be given occasionally. Peas are high in oxylates, which prevents the absorption of vitamin D, while carrots and apples are relatively high in sugar and low in nutritional benefit. Staple greens should be dandelion greens, collard greens, mustard greens, kale, and bok choy. Romaine should only be given occasionally if at all, and only the dark green leafy parts. Iceberg should never be given. Foods, excluding kale and phoenix worms, should be dusted with a calcium/vitamin D3 supplement every day for juveniles, and every 2-3 days for adults. Rep Cal is a great brand, as it has no phosphorous.

Fifteen inches is on the large side relative to his age, but it isn't unheard of. Definitely not a growth disorder. Sometimes you just get those beardies who grow quicker and larger than the rest of the clutch.

Anyways, I would see a vet as soon as you can. If it is edema, he will need veterinary treatment ASAP. If it's not, then a vet should be able to help you figure out what the cause of this problem is.

Why does my bearded dragon miss crickets so much?

If he's just a baby then give him some time. Hunting is a learned skill that takes a while to master. Think about when you were a baby, did you just pick up food, place it in your mouth and eat it? Of course not, babies miss, they are slow, they don't have all the muscles of an adult.

I've got some leopard geckos who do this same thing that you're talking about, its really not that big of a deal if he is in fact eating SOMETHING.

At first when I read this, it seemed as if he would be missing his food because he isnt going after it at all. Dragons do this thing with their legs, its like they drag them. This happens when the bones in their legs aren't strong enough to support them. Make sure you dust your crickets with calcium powder to make sure this doesnt happen.

So just give your dragon some time and you'll see some change as he grows.

Why won't my red eared slider turtle lay her eggs in the dirt tank i made her?

i took her out of her original tank with the water and the male and she won't lay her eggs in there. she won't dig or anything unless she's in the water. and i hear its bad for them to lay the eggs in the water. i don't know what to do. maybe she's not quite ready to lay them? but she keeps digging in the rocks for a place in the water. what should i do?

My RES just ate his ReptoGuard conditioner block!!?

I bought a TetraFauna "turtle health conditioner" from PetCo. It looks like a little white turtle shaped rock. The package says it will disolve for slow release. I just caught him eating it! I took what was left out of the tank, but it looks like he ate the head & legs off it. Is he going to get sick? It couldnt kill him could it? Active ingredients are: calcium sulfate hemihydrate, sulfathiazole, sulfadiazin sodium, sulfamethazine, and urea.
