My best friend says I owe her money?

Ok so about a month ago I was babysitting and she came with. We were there for 4 hours, and I went alone the next day. The family gave me 60 bucks total (5 an hour) and I told my friend I'd pay her when I cashed the check. She told me "it was fine, she didn't need it" (i still have the message) I was planning on giving her the 10 bucks but she kept saying no so I just forgot about it. Now she just told me that I owed her $25 for babysitting... I have no idea where she got that idea! I told her I would give her $10 but now shes making me feel guilty like I owe her more. Am I wrong? Help!

If a friend owes me money, how do I get it back?

If you have no contract, there is not much you can do legally. You may try small claims court, but it may digress to you said / he said.Even though an oral contract is binding in some states, the fact is that it is only binding if the judge believes you.In any case, save ALL emails and ALL text messages—especially the ones that say, “Ah, dude, I’m realy hard up, but I’ll give you something next week.”if nothing else, learn the life lesson that friends are not good credit risks. Banks usually recognize this fact, and that is why he hit you up for money. If you are talking about $100 right it off as a gift, because it is not worth the hassle. That might seem like a lot, but you have to go through so much leg work before it even gets in front of a judge, that it won’t be worth the trouble. Now, if you are talking about a whole lot of money—more money than a small claims court handles—you might consider seeing an attorney, but even that can get sketchy if you don’t have any proof to back yourself up.A former friend of mine borrowed $15k from another friend of mine in order to make a downpayment on a house, so that the bank would give him a loan. When it came time that the guy was to start paying back the friendly loan, this former friend tells him, “Oh, no! I thought it was a gift. I never would have accepted it, if it was a loan.” He lost a lot of friends, but the friend that loaned him the money never saw so much a a penny paid back.

My best friend owes me money, how do I get it back or should i just forget about it?

My best friend owes me $30 because I gave him a ride back home. He said I'll pay you $30 for your gas to come and pick me up and drive me home. This happen August of this year (2011). He's one of my two best friend I have. Back in August, he said he's going to ask his dad for money to pay me back... it never happened. So I asked for the money a later, his excuse was that his dad doesn't give him money anymore. But I know he still get his allowance, but I know he uses it to buy cig and pot (he's a smoker). Then another week passes I asked him again, this time he's said he'll pay me back once he gets a job. But lucky I found a job and got him in, since he was desperately looking for one. He told me he would pay me back when he gets his first check. Again it never happen, he's excuse was he have to pay for school. (I think this is BS, because he hasn't gone to college since he graduated high school 3 years ago.) Then finally he received his second check (few days ago) I asked for $30, he told me it takes 24 hours for him to withdraw money from his bank account, (he uses Chase Bank).

So my questions are should I continue to ask for my money until he's pay up? $30.00 isn't much, but to me I value my money even a dollar is a lot. I'm not cheap I just think it's hard work to earn money. I don't get allowances often but when I do it goes to saving for Christmas.

My friend would ask for carpool since my house and his place was a block apart, I would pick him up driving to work and if we get off the same time I would drive him home. Should I stop that?

If he doesn't have a ride he would just take the bus to work, 3 buck to work and 3 buck back.

I feel like I have helped him a lot (getting him a job). His dad was extremely happy that he got a job too LOL.

Should I forget about the $30 and never help him again? (no carpool, ride to friend house, pick him up on the way)

Is Chase Bank required 24 hours wait before withdrawing money after depositing your check?
Is there a way I can ask for the money without having conflict with friendship? (Yes I know money can corrupt people)

Well thanks. If you have a good answer I'll contact you through email as well.

My best friend owes me money. What are my options?

Since I do not know the amount, it is difficult to determine what to do- easily. I have a feeling you know what your alternatives are. You seem to be asking how you can do it and still remain friends.Things to consider :1- Do you really need this money back?2- Can your friend afford to pay you back?3- What matters more the friendship or the money?Best case scenario may be to ask the friend to pay you in installments. If this proves to be impossible, forgetting the debt may be best. This is a life lesson, learn from it.I hope this works out for you.

What would you do if friends owed you money and forgot about it? One owes me $10 and the other owes me $20?

That depends. If you are worried they will have a bad reaction and your friendship will be damaged then decide if the friendships are worth more than $10 and $20 dollars.Otherwise, remind them. I know if it were me, I would want to be reminded, before our friendship was damaged, because I have the brain of a squirrel sometimes and I do forget things. If I owed you $20 dollars and you reminded me, this is what would happen. I might ask you to remind me of when I borrowed this money. Of course, your reminding me might bring it back, if I ask, it’s because I honestly forgot. If I have the money, I will give it to you right then and there. If I don’t, I will try to at least give you some of it. Or, I might say, “Get in the car, were going to the ATM.” If you reminded me while we were having a meal, I’ll offer to pay for your meal as well as mine. If your meal comes to over 20 dollars, I’ll tell you that my paying for all of it should be considered “Interest.”You are probably the best judge of how your friends will react. Are they the type to forget? Or are they the type to deliberately just not pay you back?
