My Brother Is Going To Be On A 6-month Deployment. Will He Come Back Alive

Will a dog remember its owner after 3 months?

Yes. My dog, Jacksie, escaped her previous owner’s yard. I found her late one night while she was “chasing” trucks at one of the busiest intersections in town. Little did I know how much my life was about to change. I tried to find her owners by posting notices at veterinarian offices/grocery stores, notifying the police, and having her scanned for a chip. After receiving no responses, I gave up the search and decided she should stay with me. Her favorite activities became going on walks, taking naps, and herding my clowder of cats. Over six months later, a friend of her previous owners recognized the dog and gave me the phone number to her previous owners. They were very happy to hear that she was rescued and still alive. A few nearly teary eyed phone calls later, they decided it was best for her to stay with me as they had another dog and had recently gotten a new puppy. Three dogs would simply have been too much for them, and Jacksie was a handful. Thrilled at being able to keep her, I became friends with her former owners on social media and share pictures of her often. Several months after that, I was walking her near my home and we ran into her previous family as they were heading into a bar. They recognized her, but more importantly, she obviously recognized each of them, including a friend who was with them! I didn't mind that they called her by her former name, “Chewy”. She was bouncing all around on her leash and beaming as if to say, “Where have you guys been? I have been looking everywhere for you!” This was nine months to a year after she was lost by them. She had always been a content and happy dog (and somewhat of a goofball) but I had never seen her so excited! After many doggie kisses, a lot of petting, a few happy tears, and several hugs they continued into the bar for the night. Jacksie was excited for the rest of the evening and every time we would walk past that bar afterwards, it seemed like she was looking for them and even wanted to go inside to check if they were there. She is 14 years old now. I've had her since she was about five. Although a bit more gray around the muzzle, she isn't letting age slow her down much. Our walks are more frequent and a bit shorter now. She has discovered the new hobby of bossing around her “brother” dog, Cane. As I write this, I can hear the soft sounds of her paws brushing against the floor near my feet, as she is likely herding cats in her sleep.

I'm going away for 6 months - will my cat remember me?

I don’t think you need to worry about that.

Do deployments make you age faster/look older?

My brother just came home from Afghanistan after 9 months. I know he saw some combat, but he doesn't talk about it much. He's 19 and he's always had a baby face, but now he's skinny and he literally looks like he's my age (25). Like his face got "older" in a sense.

I was hoping to get some insight on this? And to all who have served, are serving, and will serve, thanks!

Active army VS. National guard when considering wife/kids?

Im a male and am think about going into the army. My question is which branch is better if I want to be with my wife and kids as much as possible? I heard she cant live on base with me if Im in the guard, but then I heard the regular army doesnt have as good pay/benefits as the NG. Im not too sure. I know the regular army will move me around alot from base to base, but thats okay with us.

Which branch of the military deploys the least?

I'm approaching my senior year in high school and my father wants me to join the military for the benefits and the training. I am considering joining while I attend college so I could get at least some of my tuition paid. I also would like to be living away from my family and I think that a military base could be a good place for me to stay.

I have no interest in joining the military and I fear joining because of the risk of being deployed.

If I leave my one-year-old dog with a friend for about 10 months, will he remember me when I come back?

You have no idea how much will your dog miss you.In 2010 I made some new friends and they invited me to their house for a small get together. Their i met this Labrador named Suzy and later got to know she was pregnant and was soon to give birth. One strong dog I must say she gave birth to 13 pups at once. One of the Pup was born very weak and the doctor said it is difficult to say whether he will survive or not but by the grace of god he survived and my friends named him Antonio after St Anthony. I always wanted to buy a dog and my love for dog this time made me go against my dad and one fine midnight i brought Antonio to my place. Kept him in the balcony and waited for the dawn to see my fathers reaction. Well with no surprises there was one hell of a fight but i somehow managed to keep Antonio at my place. He was just 2 monts old and it felt awesome to raise him and see him grow but happiness never last for too long. One day my dad out of frustration kept a condition i don't like the smell and a lot of dog hair everywhere in the house and I can't take all this the dog has to leave or I will leave. I was like ok you can leave naaaahh I didn't say that. The fights became regular and one day I had no other option but to leave Antonio from where I bought him. He was 18 months old then and stayed with me for 16 months.75 days old Antonio (approx)18 months old AntonioToday he is 52 months old and he still remembers everything about us. He loved going on bike rides with me, we have such a strong connection that till date when i pay him a visit he will come to the window listening to my bikes sound. He will remember your smell, your touch, your love and everything about you.His I wanna drink face...

Wheres the best place for air defense artillery(14T) to go? Do I stay or go?

First, I would hope that this isn't just a one-sided decision making process and you both are talking to each other, discussing the pro's and con's of each duty assignment. The best advice would be for you to talk to ADA soldiers who have been assigned to Fort Bliss, Fort Hood, Fort Lewis, Fort Campbell, Fort Bragg, Fort Carson, Korea and Japan.

Obviously if he goes to Korea, it will be an 18-month hardship unaccompanied tour.

Currently the role of Air Defense Artillery School is under transformation and the ADA School is being moved to Fort Sill and combined with the Field Artillery School.

From what I understand, there's two types of ADA (SHORAD and HIMAD), I'm not sure what sort of unit your spouse is in but there's very limited posts for HIMAD duty assignments.

So I would assume that he's SHORAD since the Army has offered a number of locations to be stationed.

If your husband wants to earn a combat patch and get his hands dirty in Iraq or Afghanistan, why not? He's a soldier and that's what soldiers do--go to war. If he doesn't want to do that, then that's his discretion too--what ever you end up doing, I would you end up making the decision as a team. Good luck with the PCS!

How long does a one year old toddler's memory last? Will the baby remember me after not seeing me for 3 months?

I have experience with this very question. In late 2003 I deployed to Iraq. I was air force, so it was only a 4 month deployment, and my daughter was 11 months old when I left. My wife told me she looked for me for several days after I left, but after that got used to me not being there. When I returned, I was very excited to see my little one again, and almost ran off the plane to see my wife and little girl. When she saw me…it was obvious she didn’t remember me. It hurt; I won’t lie, but little ones just don’t remember much, and not for long. The upside, though, was after a few minutes at home, she was showing off for me like she would anyone. After a few days, it was like I’d never left, and of course she has no memory of my absence.Good luck to you!

Why does a soldier have to pay for his replacement soldier when he is granted a leave while on deployment?

Did you not read the answer I just sent on “special missions in Syria?”F R E EWhat is more, please think a moment. How, I mean process wise, would someone go about paying for a replacement? Where would they get this person? Some sort of temp agency?“Oh yes, our secretary is going on maternity leave, and a soldier who was on special missions in Syria, and disclosed it to a civilian with no security clearance, needs some time as well. Can you send me the resume’s for a few candidates?”Any soldier on “special missions in Syria” who disclosed it to a civilian (no, it wouldn’t get past censors, and yes they would know about it) wouldn’t have to worry about finding a replacement. The military would do it for him. And he wouldn’t need to take leave or worry about transportation home….or at least the nearest base where they could hold a court martial.I have been in the military. Mr. Ashmore has been in the military. My son is a serving officer in the US Navy (and he won’t say where he is, like special missions in Syria). My grandson just enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. You are being scammed!!!!!And if you send money, not only will you not ever see the money again, you will not hear from him, but will, probably hear from other “soldiers” who are also stranded after special missions.Listen, it is admirable that you are willing to help a member of our Armed Forces who claims to be in need. And if I thought for a moment it was genuine, I would not only applaud you, but ask where I could send a check to help out. Current members of the military, or former members, we like to look after our own.But ma’am, you are being ripped off by someone who will stoop so low as to prey upon your love of country and care for the well being of those who defend her. This person, if it is a person and not an automailer, is the lowest form of creature to crawl the earth.Do not fall for it, because if you do, it will encourage him, or them, to keep doing it, and trying to take advantage of more patriots. Please, don’t. Cut off all contact, block him on all social media, and if you can, report him as a fraudster on whatever social media you use.
