My Brother Is Going To Face Interview How Should He Get Prepared

What should I wear to by Big Brother Big Sister interview?

i would wear something appropriate for the weather.... if your meeting your new little sister or brother and their parents i would dress normally how you dress.... dress like you and be yourself and of course be polite but just be yourself that way they can see who you really are and decide if it would make a good fit. i hope that helps ... good luck!

They are asking for a background check post-interview. Did I get the job?

I am applying for a position with a large city here in the US. I went through a examination (essay and multiple choice) and passed it. It narrowed down the candidates considerably. Then I had a face-to-face interview, where I feel that i did extremely well and got along very well with the interviewers. I was told that i would hear back within 2-6 weeks. Two weeks later, I received a letter asking me to submit to a background check. Now knowing cities and their limited resources, I figure that they wouldn't conduct a background check on people they don't plan to hire. Therefore, I'm leaning towards the fact that contingent on passing the background check, I got the job. Are background checks normally the final step in hiring? Is this how the process normally goes?

How hard is it to get rejected in the interview round of UPSC exams?

If you make UPSC as your life ,then rejection in any of the rounds can be felt as a rejection of life. Most of the candidates who come to me or who have prepared along with me, treat this failure as the major setback of their life. They dreamt UPSC and the life of an IAS officer and ended up as a Group B/C officer or in a banking job.The rejection of UPSC hits harder because of the following reasons:UPSC preparation takes away the entire time of one’s youth. It demands a lot of sacrifices from the candidate in restraining himself from all social gatherings and family commitments. Not only the candidate but also the family makes a lot of financial sacrifices.Few candidates have been toppers in school and college, but when rejected by UPSC start questioning their capability. In my view ,UPSC dreams are a little addictive too. Till you get in, you keep trying one more attempts. And after 5 or 6 long years, if you dont crack it ,the society starts treating you as a failure. From marriage to job, everything becomes a nightmare.I have seen a lot of IITians and very talented students not being able to crack either the Prelims or interview stage of preparation.I have only seen the pain of the students on failure, till one day I met a student who had this reply.“ Nobody owns my failure today. So will I.”“And UPSC has rejected me, I havent .”“When Amitabh was brought to Mumbai , it seemed that Amitabh's unconventional looks and great height would seem as a reason for rejection. Every filmmaker that he approached thought he was too tall at 6 feet 3 inches. They thought him a bit too dark to be exposed on film.In desperation Amitabh tried to use the one other unique characteristic that he had, his deep baritone. But here too, Bachchan failed. He was rejected by the All India Radio after an audition test. And today he is the Shahenshah of Bollywood.”The worst days of my life are over and the best is yet to come !This is just the beginning.”She wiped her tears and walked out.I dont know what she will become in future , but her tears reflected the pain of rejection. And somewhere deep in my heart, I felt happy for the strength she carried. And wished that she is able to achieve something bigger in life.

Has anyone gone through the pre investigatory interview for correctional officer?

I am going through the selection process here in Sacramento, CA and I am pretty nervous about it all. I am wondering if anyone out there can give me an idea of what to expect.

How can I prepare for going to Harvard as a middle school girl?

Obviously, you'll want to get the best grades you can possibly get, so stay on top of your homework and studying. If you begin to struggle with a subject, get help immediately, before you fall behind and get discouraged. Get help from your teacher, other students, or from a private tutor. Actually, it can't hurt to work with a tutor on a regular basis, even when you're doing well, to maintain your grades and stay ahead of the game.

Take as many advanced classes as you can handle (honors, AP, IB, etc). Colleges want students who have challenged themselves by taking the most rigorous courses available to them. If you apply to schools like Harvard, you'll be competing against applicants who have taken nothing but advanced classes throughout high school.

Choose a few extracurricular activities that you really enjoy and/or excel at. Pour yourself into them and stick with them long term. You don't need a ton; quality counts more than quantity. Colleges would rather see a few activities that you're extremely dedicated to, than a long list of random clubs that you didn't have much involvement with. If you can obtain leadership roles in your activities (team captain, club president, class officer, etc), all the better. If you can win honors or awards, especially at the state or national level, better still!

Get involved with some community service organizations, and keep a log of the hours you volunteer with each group. Choose something you enjoy or that reflects your current interests or future goals. For instance, if you're a soccer player, you could volunteer to coach or referee for youth soccer teams. If you plan to be a doctor, volunteer at a hospital or clinic. This gets you "points" for community service while also showing your dedication to something you're passionate about.

Plan your summers wisely. Colleges will want to know how you've spent your vacation time: did you hang out at the pool all summer, or did you do something worthwhile? Taking summer classes, attending a sport, art or academic camp, working a job, or going on a mission trip will all look a lot better than playing video games all summer.

I'm an Indian. My US Visa (B1/B2) was rejected under section 214(b). Though I'm aware this is a temporary rejection and I'm eligible to apply again, what are the implications? Does this have an impact while applying for other country visas?

Let me share my experience with you.On Jan 21st 2016, I was rejected B1/B2 visa under section 214(b). The interview location was Mumbai. As this would have been my first visit to any foreign country and I got rejected in interview, I was not happy. I knew that this is not a permanent rejection, we can reapply it later but still I was not happy. Spent 2 days with this feeling and then I moved on with it.Then came in new requirement in which I have to again visit USA. My company asked me to re apply for B1 B2 visa in the month of June 2016, and I got 29th July scheduled for my interview. This time, as I had an earlier experience, I knew the whole process, what I have to do, where I have to go, what will be asked and what I have to speak. I was confident. But, while waiting for my turn, I was noticing the people who were coming out with there passports, which means they were rejected I think. To my surprise, approximately 90% of them were returning with their passports. Watching this, a bit of my confidence went down. But I was prepared. I was prepared to get rejected and I was also prepared to ask politely, what is the actual reason behind the rejection? If I got rejected this time also. Then came my interview. I was asked the following questions. What's the purpose of a visit?Tell me more about it?What will be the duration of your stay? What is so different about your application now?I clearly answered all of these questions and made the interviewer understand the purpose of my visit. I was cool and calm. During my full Interview he kept on typing something on his computer. After typing a bit more, he said "Your visa has been approved. Have a great stay."Me: "Thank you. Have a great day ahead!"

How much does a year gap for preparation of GATE matter during IIT/IISc interviews?

Aditya,First of all, the results of GATE 16 are not yet out. Moreover even if you get a four digit rank, there is still hope to get into IITs(MTech RA) or IISc(MSc Engg which is now called Mtech by research). Don't narrow down your options to just MTech (TA) or ME( IISc). You can also consider direct PhD as an option, for which just qualifying GATE score will suffice to get an interview call from some (old and new) IITs (not in IISc though). You will get good scholarship also (25000 for PhD). I insist you at this point of time to start preparing for interviews even if you are expecting just qualifying marks. Now, coming to your question, if you get extremely good rank (< 300) next time, you need not worry as you will get direct admit from more than one IIT and hence you need not face interview. Suppose if your rank goes beyond say 500, then you will have to face the interview. In that case definitely they will ask you regarding what you did for two years after graduating. If you say you were not doing anything, that may lead to some negative impression. But good idea is to join as Research or Project Assistant at some IIT or IISc and  continue your preparation. That way nobody can question you. In fact  that will be added benefit to you in interview. Joining some company and preparing is a BAD idea. Only 5 out of 100 can do that well in what I have seen around me. Good luck !
